Something that my mom told me that has always stuck with me is this:
“a woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle”
And I just think that’s profound.
My Health teacher in high school said a very similar thing: A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.
"They both are very different and can go perfectly fine being separate" nice
Honestly a bicycle would be a cute aquarium decoration

I love that Witches vs Patriarchy is such a trans-inclusive space. I was a lil worried that as a trans guy I would be turned away for "abandoning womanhood" or something, but everyone there is so welcoming. ❤️
Feminists can be make or female.
Witches can be anyone of any gender. Whether you're a witch, wizard, or warlock depends on where you got your magic from, not gender

If a romantic (or any) relationship does not make you feel happy, loved, and fulfilled, it is 100% acceptable to nope out. I’d rather be in no relationship than a crappy one.
that is my fear if I "get one" and "i don't like it, I don't feel it. it's not like what other people have, not what I expected" there is nothing wrong with breaking up because of that right? how does one make the lack of satisfaction not look shallow and petty?
"well Tanya's boy friend does this and that, and she is happy, why can't you be more like her boyfriend?" deal.
@@kaiyodei if you're unhappy and it's just not compatiable/you don't see it working long term that's the reason, it's not shallow it saves you wasting both of your time so you can both move on with your lives. Being trapped will cause resentment and it will not help your mental health. So yeah, not shallow or petty better for everyone involved eventually
@@kaiyodei To add on to what the other person said, obviously you should try to make a relationship work better first if you're still invested in it, but it's better to ask for what you want without framing it as a comparison with anyone else (unless you have to point out that this is a very simple quality of life adjustment, like not leaving dirty laundry everywhere.) You can't force other people to make compromises though and the same is true for yourself; they can't make you change either. That's why it needs to be a conversation focusing on what you want, how you feel, and touching base with what they want too; rinse and repeat as often as necessary. Some things you may just have to agree to disagree on but obviously not a deal breaker; you can't fix being incompatible. And you can always change your mind if you realize something is more important than you initially realized.
But after all of that, if you've had discussions about what you're missing in the relationship and this leaves you unhappy and nothing is working, then you're both better off ending it at some point because you'll both become resentful (think of all the terrible jokes from comedians who hate their wives...) You can stay friends with him after the breakup if that's what works but if you're happier not talking to him any more, that's fine too. Things can end amicably even if it still hurts but odds are you simply got complacent with how things were and you'll miss that comfort more than you miss him. It helps if you can decide what's really important to you and find someone who agrees with most of it (but of course everyone is different so you'll never find someone who agrees completely about everything lol. Maybe 70% is a good target? With 80-90% being top tier cohesion but unlikely unless you're very lucky.)
The thing is anything that's important to you isn't shallow or petty and even some of the things that seem that way on surface level may run deeper. Like, if he insists that you always do his laundry and he leaves stinking piles everywhere, there could be multiple reasons, one could be depression IDK, but another might be that he just wants a free maid, his mother always did his laundry for him, and he doesn't respect your other obligations. That's a bigger issue right there so talking about it first is good, to bring up what is frustrating, point out how you feel about it, and find out why he's like this and if he'll actually stop because what he says and what he does also matters. If he really is just using you, then that's something you want to recognize and dump him for unless you're okay with that arrangement.
Maybe you'd rather be the one doing the laundry but you also don't want to pick it up off the floor, so the compromise could be as simple as asking him to use the hamper. If he agrees and then refuses to actually follow through, it would seem like he doesn't care about keeping his promises or he needs help and while it's always good to give someone a second chance, not everyone deserves a third or fourth chance, depending on what the actual situation is. And if this is the only issue, possibly not worth it? But only you can draw the line in the sand for what you're willing to deal with in a healthy relationship and things that seem shallow can sometimes be indicators of something worse. Just don't ignore any red flags, keep your expectations realistic, talk first, and don't be afraid to quit because there's nothing wrong with removing discomfort from anybody's life, especially your own.
ALSO if you're not happy with him, reflecting on any other relationships you've had and looking for patterns could be helpful. Maybe you're dating people you think you should be dating and not the people you actually want to date. This is another reason it's good to decide what's most important; you can weed out what you don't want faster.
Rather happy alone than crappy together ❤
Alas, this isn't always the case. Sometimes, leaving would put you in danger. I know this all too well.

Fun Fact: Tarot Cards were originally just playing cards. They have their own suits and there are numbered cards. Cards like "the Wheel" and "the hanged man" are basically like face cards. I think. The suits are if I remember: Swords, Cups, Coins and Wands.
It's usually swords, cups, pentacles and wands but maybe there are different suits too, just in my experience I've only seen swords, cups, pentacles and wands in my decks. That's a super cool fun fact! Hopefully I don't sound rude just figured I'd share what I know 😊
@@eowyn6436 No no, glad it was interesting. More knowledge is always good. I've yet to see Pentacles, maybe it has to do with coins but interesting to think that maybe some version do have different suits.
@@4akrosslastname764 I've only ever seen pentacles in modern decks too, but they were originally coins in older decks. And the face cards didn't exist until sometime during the late 17th/early 18th c. when people decided to use the cards that had been the coolest new thing back in the Renaissance (for a game named Tarroc...) to do some light, whimsical fortune telling. Some of those old decks were mass printed, then colour was added by hand-painting, and they're stunning! Can you imagine a tipsy game of Tarroc in the gardens of Versailles turning into an impromptu, frivolous fortune telling session? Because I can see it so clearly.

I recently learned a few things about Athena!
A) Medusa was turned into a gorgon as to not get harassed by men
B) Zeus cursed the spider lady so she could never weave with a spinning wheel again. So Athena turned her into a spider that way she could pursue her passion without defying Zeus!
There are many many retellings of these stories but these ones hold a special place in my heart.
Yeah it’s really dependent on the source as the main source for the Greek mythos was a Roman who rewrote it cause he struggled with authority cause he wanted to marry (I think his sister or niece, don’t remember), and was told no. So he ended up writing anti authoritarian rhetoric in the green mythos. Making it almost impossible to tell actual mythology from pure fiction.
Medusa was not cursed by Athena, because Athena is a greek god and in greek mythology, she was born a gorgon (Athena just gave Perseus the means to kill her).
Medusa was cursed by Minerva, the roman version of the god, which, while she was adapted by the romans from Athena, is not the same god.
@@lorien1147 Just gave a quick Google but it looks like the difference is age of the story, not Greek vs. Roman; older stories have her born monstrous, while relatively modern (still old) stories have her cursed.
The retelling's I recalled went thusly:
Medusa, a beautiful lady with wings called a gorgon, slept with Apollo and in a fit of rage was cursed into ugliness (either by Athena not sure why, Artemis who was Apollo's sister, or Aphrodite out of jealous spite) and when Apollo woke up he was holding ugly snake haired Medusa and stormed off. The power of her ugliness turned men into stone and so she hid herself away.
The spider lady was named Arachine and she boasted to her village that she could spin and weave better than Athena who was the patron goddess of the skill. Athena then challenged her to prove her talents and when Arachine failed, she was turned into a spider so that she would always remember the skill that had doomed her.
Fun fact: during COVID a church in Germany decided use super soakers to spray babies with holy water for their baptism in order to keep the appropriate distance 😂
Not too fond of religion, or more like, not fond of religious zeal that humans tend to exhibit, but I find any non-standard applications for practicing religion very cool. When churches started streaming and adopting technology during lockdown, that was also cool. In general, when places that are usually restrictive and not forward thinking decide to do that, I just go 'yaaay', this is how progress is being made.
non-religiously, but we have freshman baptism at my uni, I have no idea if this is common, and neither do I give a shit, and usually we would be dunked in a tank of water, but due to covid, we were just super soaked too. Just saying I think all the current ones could use an extended stay.

I had the impression that it was a list of reasons for the people in that time period coming in. So like 5 different people were admitted with "issues" linked to masturbation, a few about the war and army etc.
I cracked up with the contrast between that and things like "asthma" and "THE WAR"
My sister and I were watching this together and laughing our butts off at the list of reasons to go to a mental asylum.
*The War*
As someone who had asthma(I am using past tense because I am fairly certain I grew out of it because i haven't had an asthma attack in quite some time) I would absolutely be in a mental asylum. I would absolutely try to escape because books are to good to let being locked up in an asylum get in the way of reading. Yes books are my only reason to escape a mental asylum if I am out in one.

I'd argue that "Dude, your car is literally on fire" is also a valid thing to shout out at another car on the street, if it's true.
ATHENA DIDN'T TURN ARACHNE INTO A SPIDER OUT OF JEALOUSY!
There are multiple versions of the myth, sure one does exist wherein Athena is jealous of Arachne's skills in weaving tapestry and turns her into the first spider, BUT THE OTHER VERSIONS ARE BETTER! The best of which has Zeus hold a competition between the two, and the loser be disallowed from ever touching a loom again, and Arachne lost. But Athena was so touched by Arachne's entry she decided to turn her into a spider so that Arachne could weave forever.
DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES, ATHENA WAS COOL!
There are also versions where Arachne's spider-transformation-provoking sin was weaving a tapestry of Zeus and Poseidon's sexual indiscretions...and presenting it to one of the worst gods (Athena) she could've possibly shown it to.
Athena did not particularly want or need to see her father or uncle (respectively) with *anyone*. So, y'know...sacrilege means spider-time.
The version I read as a kid (iirc) said either Arachne states she was the best weaver, even moreso than Athena herself or people were praising her and declared her more skilled than Athena. That pissed Athena off (not so much because she was jealous, but because it was disrespectful), so she went to Zeus who held a competition, and it went the same way you described (took pity on her and made her a spider to keep weaving).
I loved this version because it seemed to fit the image I had of Athena (I was 8 and hadn't learned much about the gods/goddesses yet 😂). Now I love this version because it has a happy ending and, let's face it, the Greek pantheon needs more happy endings. Damn. Lol
The version of the myth I remember learning was that after Arachne lost the weaving competition she tried to k*ll herself and Athena turned her into a spider out of sympathy.
(Also it should worth noting that a lot of Greek myths were written/rewritten by highly misogynistic Ancient Greek men).
In general, Arachne's transgression was always some form of hubris.
A lot of the worst Athena stories are from Ovid. I think he had some beef.

On the QR code thing: sadly, most modern phones ask you if you want to open it before doing so. Your best bet is probably to have it link somewhere enticing that can distract them long enough to forget what they were doing. If it's men you don't want filming you, the hub maybe?
Or it's a link that looks enticing, but leads to a malware download. Of course, probably wouldn't last long before whatever exploit you're using gets security patched...
Its also very illegal. Have it link to a jumpscare instead legal and punishes people who film you.
Some QR Scanners have a setting to automatically go to scanned link, though it only works if you specifically have this app opened (and not during filmik). So I think it still has some chance of success. But at the same time, i'd be worried about accidental damage, because people might just get curious about QR code and where it goes to, you wouldn't want them to hit malware, hmpf.

going through my first period as a trans gal and ot posted! thank you for the mood lift :D
Stay strong sister, I'm still working up the courage to start hormones again.
I mean this as genuine curiosity and I could and will probably ask Google as well. As a trans guy desperately wanting my ovaries to stop beating my abdomen mercilessly as a cost of refusing crotch goblins, can I ask how a period works for you?
Of course I don't need the details, but is it somewhat similar to the moodswings of an afab person and you get all of the mental things, or do you have like... I don't know... a period-like thing that you use to simulate it? I'm genuinely curious, feel absolutely free to tell me to just Google it!
@@luniticarmor6843 It's all good! I'm on hrt and have been since last April, the symptoms I get are stomach pain and the moodswings! I'm not 100% sure it's a period but the cramps continued from last night so I'm pretty sure it is!
Yeah my first period was not pleasant.... cuz I was amab and it turns out I'm intersex and got so stressed it triggered one..... I was not amused
Congratulations and condolences on your first period -an afab ally
I showed my Mom part of this video (around the 13 minute mark). She seemed to enjoy it and explained a few things I wasn’t clear on and had a healthy discussion about the topics discussed. A long way of saying great work, keep it up! ❤
2:36 hey. Give the cat some space. It’s just trying to be friends with Sadako. The girl from the ring. She’s probably lonely.
Literally seconds after commenting this I got a ad for dead by daylight mobile. The character shown in it was Sadako.
@@shadowking278 😂😂😂😂 amazing.
All I know about her is a cursed VHS tape and drowning, where does the flower pot come in?
About the one with the deities, can confirm,
Loki picked me out of the trash can cuz They enjoyed my flavor of chaos
OT, I know you probably won't see this but; thank you. I know you're some random youtuber on the internet, but still. thank you for doing the job you do. because of you I got to realize that I'm not cishet, without you I wouldn't be able to know the real me. and I know you do this for alot of people, but it still helped with my mental to understand myself more because of you.
Yeah, same. Thank you OT.
congrats on finding yourself!
OT has always been a really welcoming space for me. This channel is just so cozy. I love it.
@stop Igbt cool. good for you! is this why you're fatherless and bitchless? I think it is!
Hey, we're both some random people in youtube comments, but you're good, you do you, you're valid. 🤗

Nah, that could lead to legal troubles over time.
It should be a QR code that automatically open "Never Gonna Give You Up".
that list of names for unmarried women depending on their age is brilliant. it's like leveling up. my mum reached the silence state before she married my dad because she's putting some of her money into the house now and marriage was the easiest way of sorting out the shared property.
That list of reasons you could be sent to an insane asylum was so long that I actually forgot what the list was about, which just made it even funnier! 🤣
Thanks OT! I really needed this today!
The moth and butterfly one got me. I think both are beautiful but I've always loved moths more. During Summer I often get a nightly visit from one because I get up around 2 AM where the sun is still down. If it's hot, I have doors and windows open. I sit in the darkness by my computer, and sometimes a moth lands on my screen. I know, for the light, but I enjoy it so much. Last year I was lucky that one landed on my finger. I don't know why it just sat there and chilled but I took a picture of it and captioned it: "I do the Disney princess thing my own way."
I always thought that the difference was that moths are nocturnal and butterflies diurnal since their larval states don't have real differences... i usually don't have a problem with neither, except when they decide to land on my face while I'm using my phone in bed.
Woot Moth Club!
The poor mom with the toddler, he should know to not reveal our invasion until the mothership has returned
17:50 The Danny/Kermit thing got me. :'(
Also, as a witch since 16 years old, I had no idea this subreddit was a thing!!! Gods, I love this channel!!!
As someone raised catholic, yeah the holy water thing is real and it is "majority of volume" to convert it.
One of the priests I met is French and he used to hold mass at my local church during his time in the US. He mentned he was taught the holy water rule of majority and "emergency blessings" for Last Rites while he was on his first visit to the Vatican. Far as I know he's there now on a more permanent assignment. And he's one of the good ones.
Im in a weird boat with that, like I was raised catholic but also my family never fully converted so like I learned witchcraft from a line of witches going back to before plumbing was a thing but I also had to get confirmed? So I started 2 covers and a cult in my catholic high school got my fave priest to join and got excommunicated just because they made us recieve the eucharist for a grade even tho 27% of the students weren't catholic
@stop Igbt i know you're possibly a child and likely confused if you are, but that is not the way to do things.
If you are an adult *posing* as a child, however. Shame on you.
If you're a click farm, even more shame.
Lol, until he mentioned the "majority of volume" thing I was beginning to think the ocean and most of Earth's water was holy 😅
@@dunno6161 I think they're a bot tbh
I know this might never be seen but I want to thank you OT. I was having a really rough day. Im dealing with a lot of troubles with friends and they’re not really being nice to me rn. And watching your content both as a witch and an lgbtq+ teen, they just always make me laugh and I can never thank you enough for all you’ve done. Thank you OT for making my day just a little bit brighter.
Dear youngling, you deserve friends who are good to you.
I hope you're having a better day today. If not, that's fine! Another one will come
I hope you are feeling better. No one deserves to be treated badly. I hope you can safely communicate what's going on and that will spur things to change. If it's not I'm hoping you will find safety and support elsewhere. 💐 🌈❤️🩹
17:08 Kermit the frog is cool yo! Jordan Peterson, how dare you speak in his voice!?
Broommates XD
dude,. OT is my therapay. Him being chaotic and funny, while also being very kind to everyone makes my metal health reach new hights. Thank you OT. You are a lifesaver, dont ever think that you dont make good content.
The Medieval Tavern post reminded me of a book I'm currently reading. "Legends & Lattes" by Travis Baldree. It's about an Orc adventurer, who at the start of the book retires to open her own coffee shop in a city that's never heard of Coffee before. It's wholesome, cozy and a wonderful time. I definitely recommend reading it if you get the chance.
I really enjoyed that one.
Thank you this is now on my tbr

No problem! I love whenever I manage to introduce someone to a piece of media. It's a nice feeling.
I saw that at the starbucks in my local barnes and noble and i would've bought it, had I not been there for different books

I hope you spot it again in future.
I don't like pantry moths because they get into grain, lost a whole canister of Durham wheat flour to the b*stards. But I absolutely love the larger, fluffy moths, with their giant eyes and totally gentle nature. I particularly love the rosy maple moth that has a beautiful array of yellows, oranges and pinks. Moths deserve love too, they pollenate like butterflies and are an important part of the ecosystem, bats, amphibians and birds feed on them in their natural diets.
I love the rosy maple moth! So cute and fluffy!
The other day, I saw this giant, think hand size, polyphemus moth outside my apartment. Meanwhile, I bought air-tight containers to prevent pantry moths and other unpleasant bugs.
How I treat moths vs butterflies is a prime example of how I don't care what you look like you'll still scare me because you are tiny and able to suddenly lunge at me.
Finally! r/WitchesVsPatriarchy is BACK!
Witches vs the Patriarchy!!! 🖤 it's one of my favourite subreddit, especially when OT is the one covering it 💙✨
Spinsters took fibres and spun them into yarn for weaving and knitting so they were basically magical.
This is literally the only channel where I like and comment on every video. You're just so wholesome and lovely, OT, it really makes my day every time you post a video.
So while I am a just drop in the algorithm ocean, I really hope that by engaging I can help others find this moment of peace and joy that you provide, and help you to be able to continue making them.
Ya with all the anti drag and Trans laws popping up in each state lately is concerning me greatly we are going backwards. As a ace drag king I'm just taking my flags down and hide who I am in public just aces can tell by my black ace ring now if they want to find me. I have zero hope Florida won't follow the other states
Unfortunately this is how genocides work, people in power make it more hostile towards a group and eventually start imposing means of identification that target that group and after a certain point they start killing off that group.

I love crows and ravens, but I think we don't talk enough how freaking cute Jackdaws are
Like, they fly like they pay being fighter jets
The "boop" at the end of every video always cheers me up by a significant amount. Thank you, OT!!! (:
Every time I hear that little "Get outta here" at the end I get an instant boost in mood. Thank you for making things a little bit better :)
The first story reminded me of this video I have of my mom after I dyed my whole head (blue) for the first time. So I walk into the kitchen and she is cooking breakfast, wearing a blue shirt. So I say "looks like we wore the same color today!" She turn around, looks at my colorful shirt, that had blue on it, and says "I guess so?" So I ask if she was gonna notice and she looks at me, IN THE EYES, and says "notice what?"
Well, my mother took a week to notice i shaved my whole head after 3 months of no shavings and 3 years of not cutting my hair, so don't feel too neglected, coukd be worse...
This is honestly my favourite subreddit (close second goes to r/actuallesbians)and I would love to see you cover more of these memes.
I also wanted to thank you so much helping me figure out my identity and making me feel welcome in a community I never thought I’d be a part of. Love ya OT, never change.💖💜💙 🏳️🌈

I got picked by a fictional deity. As in from a fantasy world. I got ARCEUS. THE POKEMON.
And I KNOW I got picked by him because whenever I ask for anything or call him by name, he'll send something for me. Drafts, plants, funky feelings™, every time.
So yeah, he just sorta went "mhm. That one. Mine" and crossed the damn multiverse for it, knowing I practically worship giratina, the Pokémon equivalent of satan (according to the dex, but the dex lies a lot, sooooo) 🙃
That book bus would def work on me…. If there were cats! Many many cats… and all the books!

Fantastatic video
Hail all witches 🖤🐈⬛
I enjoyed the video(words of affirmation for you since this was a theme this video). The post about not lowering your standards had me pointing at the screen going, " Yes, this!" The poster said it so much more eloquently than I have ever managed when family starts in with 'you're too picky' 'you'll die alone'.
3:50 Well, yeah, but that's why the Dwarves didn't try to unalive Snow White, and the bears...well, they would have shown Goldilocks exactly what bears do, but she yeeted herself out a window and shamed Usain Bolt~🤣

45 is a GRANDMA for you???????
Ot, be real with me...are you actually 3 children in balance under a shirt?
The best part of the list of things that could send you to the asylum post was everyone in the comments tagging themselves on what reasons they’d be going
I want that menstruation crustacean station in my house, it’s so cute!

Random Asylum Worker: You're insane!

I kept track of how many reasons I would be admitted for- got 11
as long as I've known you existed it has never occurred to me to think of you as anything but one of the most shiny, beautiful, humans on the earth.
With that last one I instantly got the idea to dump some holy water into the ocean to bless the entire planet... Then I heard about how at least more then half needs to be holy water for the entirety to be converted... I need a lot of water from the pope now.
I always love a good witches vs the patriarcy video 😁.
@stop Igbt really? Which one? There are so many, you'll be busy for a while 🙃
That last one about the holy water made me laugh so hard, as someone who was raised Catholic
Fun fact about the holy water post: I fell down the stairs a week after that was posted. I think that is significant somehow.
I am so happy that we made it back to this subreddit. And I have been wanting that malware shirt for years!!!
Also, Andrea is an absolute LEDGEND!!!!!!
Upside, you introduced me to Witches vs The Patriarchy. Downside, when you come back around to it I've seen everything you're reacting to already.
18:08 I have a moths onesie/bodysuit, and my favourite part of it is gettin to let ppl know that all those beautiful butterflies on my clothes they just complimented are in fact magnificent moths.
Moths and butterflies look prty much the same in many cases, tho if they look just a little closer theyll see a few stereotypical moth lookin moths on it too; but they usually notice the butterfly lookin ones first
I find both to be wonderful and worthy of lookin at as beautiful and magnificent :3
So when the crow popped up I initially thought the reflection on it's eye was a 2nd pair of eyelids (Like cats have) and ended up googling it, I realize now that I saw the video wrong BUT I learned that birds DO have extra eyelids!
16:11 Vanishing into the trees is a goal I've only been chasing for the better part of 40 years now. Even though it hasn't worked for me, doesn't mean it won't or can't work for someone else. Keep exploring those overgrown trails.
I must argue the moth vs butterfly. Moths like to gather around lights, so anytime I came home late from work, or when working 3rd shift, leaving for work, just walking out the front door, I would disturb the moths hanging around the porch light and often had one or more fly into my face or hair. I never had that problem with butterflies.
You've clearly never had a butterfly drink blood from an open wound, I mean it didn't hurt but like hey that's my blood to drink not yours
Moths also like to eat fabric and ruin people's clothes. I think that's the main issue
