I'm facing the same issue of coolant drain on my Dominar 400 2017 model. I have given the bike to service center 2 days back. Now painful thing, they have to open up the engine change the pipe sealings and the head gasket of the engine. I'm worried if later the pickup and the performance might drop, post servicing and fixing the issue. I have cloaked 21000 km and am facing this issue from 19000. My mileage dropped drastically and engine over heating. I'm planning to upgrade to Himalayan 2019 FI AbS version. Dominar disappointed me very badly. And Mr.Vikas you earned a subscriber ❤️
How should coolant on an KTM 890 be mesured? Meaning on its side stand or centerstand? There is a difference. For example, on the side stand the coolant shows at the upper lavel but when placing on a center stand the level is towards the lower level mark. Im thinking it the side stand but the book does not specity. It just references a "horizontal surface".. Thanks

In ktm just checking the instrument console should be enough right? It clearly shows overheating and the radiator fan turning on. In fact most of the bikes show this these days

Sir ktm engine cannot be seazed bcz it has already inbuilt thermostat.......whn engine gets overheated it will automatically cutoff the engine preventing from engine seazeing..
Ro quadz yes you are right but thermostat only works when coolant is on level when coolant is low engine may be seized b'coz thermostat take the reading from coolant

I don't understand how can the coolant get mixed with oil cause the the Chanel of the coolant is on the exterior of the engine not in the interior with the oil. It's got a totally different path with the engine case and metal dividing the two.

Clocked 280 kms in odo.. all of a sudden the coolant level has dropped to MINIMUM.. examined thoroughly and can't find any leaks from hose nor radiator ! Contacted KTM person thru phone and he told that it is not a problem as my duke hasn't completed 1000 kms.. My place is far from KTM SERVIcE STATION.. Is it fine to drive my duke for around 20 kms with coolant level in minimum ?
Its normal on brand new bike out the box. Level goes a little down on brakin period. You dealer will check and top off all fluid levels at bikes first breakin service.
My bike has done 20k in 4 years, and service guys everytime says that no need to top up coolant..infact yesterday.. and i think its completely abnormal and unbelievable.. is it okay sir...? Or should i go for the coolant change..?

I got it checked from the service center and they told that there is a damage in one of the shaft due to which coolant mixes up with oil. The shaft replacement will cost me about 11k. 😩

Yes, bro. It is completely safe and it's a procedure which is followed while transporting a vehicle. We need to remove the fuel. It's a matter of security also. U can buy fuel in mineral water bottle and use the same to fuel the bike, once it reached the destination

If you topup the coolant reservoir to Maximum , no problem it actually comes out through the overflow drain pipe when the coolant gets expanded 😊
