TheZoonder where do you draw the line though. I think he did the minimum in reality. Probably easier to get those golf wheels than even source new skoda wheel trims
I have ACTUALLY always wondered what happens when a bunch of people put in disgusting amounts of effort into maintaining and then restoring regular cars to perfection. Thank you, Alex. Thank you, Car Throttle. Let’s all go and restore and pamper old bangers now.
Joshua D'Oliveiro I'm doing exactly that: I'm currently restoring an e39 528i that has 374.xxx km on the clock that has been the family car since '97. It's absolutely worth restoring cars from the nineties, you get a lot of car for prices that the currently have
Mitrofan Vlad You should definitely keep hold of it, the diesel e39's can go up to 600.000+ ! And for the money that you have to pay for an e39 these days, there's not aot of other cars that offer you more than the e39 does
Alex, Miles is looking awesome but please please put some centre caps on those wheels. Miles deserves those finishing touches :) keep up the good work Ash @TheGuysThatDrive
And they need to earn a living too? They make probably around 70k$ a year from RUclips. Divide that to two, for both hosts (and lets think that the cameraman and the rest of the guys, work for free, people love to work for free), thats around 35k per person. Thats 26k GBP, which is basically covering for their living expenses and thats it. Not a whole lot of money if you think about it.
I'm pretty sure a lot of companies give them stuff. Hell, skoda official gave them a brand new interior. Meaning obviously that they save quite a bit of money.
Yeah, thats the only reason why it got restored. Restoring is a lot of work and money. its not something you can do in a day. Like have you even worked on a car before?
I never thought I’d say this about an old Skoda diesel...but Miles looks mega. Everyone involved in the project has really done a number on him. Here’s to the next 430,000 miles.
I love what you’re doing! Miles just looks too clean now and you’d never think he’s done more than 50,000 miles 😃 Also I think some VRS rims would suit Miles better 👌🏼 keep up the good work.
Damn didn't notice that but it is a very real threat. I hit my Fender once or twice with the Hammer when I was changing my front suspension but my paint is cracked and bad anyways and not new like Miles's
Mark Plenty Awesome! Btw all of our Miles show ~220k km on the odo, even for veterans of 30+ age. So just add 500k to that. It's kinda part of culture I guess.
What a great show, love the high mileage hero, Miles the Skoda. More episodes please :) Make them as long as possible, under 20 min is just about right but no less than 15.
I think the car looks epic man. It’s crazy. I’d actually buy that car if it were on sale. (Still needs newer headlights I think though. Projector housing with LEDs and a DRL set up. The car is amazing 👌👌👌
Like putting on stupid wide body kits that don't last more than a week because of reckless driving, fartcans which will drive everybody crazy and such things can be considered destroying them? I wanted to say lowering the car too...but some cars look nicer lowered...But not too low because then it looks stupid.

Great stuff. Fantastic. Wonderful job. It's very heartening to see some love given to a selfless workhorse... I had a 1999 version of one of these and it served me well. Utterly dependable, completely reliable.
Cool Car Hq definetly. He could put lifted tail lights and headlight from L&K wersion. I also don't like black door panels which don't fit to rest of grey interior plastics.

Miles the High-Milage Hero: Not fast, not strong, but has seen a lot and can't be beat. Edit: Damn Alex has muscles. Probably from lifting those heavy-ass shocks. I also cracked a big smile with those sprayed-black rims. Awesome! Loving that cinematic/b-roll but sad that at the very end when the cinematic went dark, you didn't rev the engine as high as redline.
Amazing job. A small advice i want to give you. Tint the windows 😁 to give the car interior a better protection from the UV light and to keep it a bit cooler in the hot summers :)
Smellsliketuna234 actually I have 2000 Octavia TDI witch 391kkm milage and there is nkthing wrong with them whereas in Volvo XC70 in - 400kkm they were crap. This one here looks preety solid
No kidding! Hell, I bought all new plates for front and back when I replaced my Rio suspension at 180k kms, and I don't have people footing the bill for me. If you are going to the time and expenses to restore the car, don't cheap out on parts.
I know the feeling picking up something you've had painted. I had the wheels redone on my E23, such an exciting moment walking into the wheel shop and seeing them sitting there!

@Swordie - WD acts as a solvent to loosen up the tar and road grim that soap cant and it has enough oil in it to make the dull and faded parts black again. WD is good because its cheap by the gallon, there is better silicon based sprays like Maxima SC1 but that would get expensive.
It might dissolves tar and road grime, but I wouldn't use it as the last chemical applied. The way WD40 gets rid of moisture dries out A LOT of materials. Including plastic..
Best series I've seen. Miles still needs the headlights and wheel covers sorterd. Also, want to see how the car drives, handles and feels now! You should do another long trip in Miles as well so you have one before and and one after restoration.

They are glass headlights. They don't need any restoration...

Joshua D'Oliveiro if I had the money man.
Joshua D'Oliveiro I'm doing exactly that: I'm currently restoring an e39 528i that has 374.xxx km on the clock that has been the family car since '97. It's absolutely worth restoring cars from the nineties, you get a lot of car for prices that the currently have
hell yeah, we had second 525d in family since 2011, It would also need a full respray with little rust removement
btw mine e39 had 433k km since I left my country one month ago
Mitrofan Vlad You should definitely keep hold of it, the diesel e39's can go up to 600.000+ ! And for the money that you have to pay for an e39 these days, there's not aot of other cars that offer you more than the e39 does
Alex, Miles is looking awesome but please please put some centre caps on those wheels. Miles deserves those finishing touches :) keep up the good work Ash @TheGuysThatDrive
Guys That Drive I agree. No center caps is really bothersome to me. Especially after they went through all of that trouble repainting the wheels.
They are centre caps that are on it. Look at the final reveal.
Black Bash from a face-lifted model in need! This is also a finishing touch, a big one!
It really puts me off without them, hopefully If they put them on they will be Skoda badges.
It’s driving me insane. Maybe we should put a go fund thingy to help miles and give the rest to @carthrottles charity of choice?

Guess what? Restores like this cost something called money.
That means we should blow out $10k+ on top of all the other projects we are doing just to restore common cars! Great idea!!!
And they need to earn a living too? They make probably around 70k$ a year from RUclips.
