Working from 9 to 6 seems very hectic. We'd love to see videos about your life after work because most programmers I know in real life aren't really into sports, especially football/soccer, like you are, or how you stay in shape since you spend most of your day on a laptop. So, we'd appreciate that kind of video. Anyway, keep it up, man, and godspeed.
I like these video’s honestly. There’s a relaxing ambiance to your videos. I appreciate how you actually tell about day to day things and just not showing around. Keep them coming in. ❤
I would be very greatful if u can help me bro, how can i improve my skills to get a job? is there anything that i should do 100% in order to get a job@@armankhondker
Always looking forward to your videos and always learning something new and finding inspiration as someone who has to work 10hr shifts daily! also i really appreciate how the subs don't disappear as quickly anymore so i have more time to read them :)
All these "day in the life of software engineer" videos are so relaxing to watch and genuinely make me excited for what could happen after university. Only thing I don't like is they all feel so lonely. I mean every day from 9-6 it's just coding, web conferencing and more coding. The days I've spent coding for that long make me feel like a zombie :/.
Slick Vlog bro! Loving this streak series of yours of uploading TikTok software engineer worklife from different TikTok offices! Still waiting for the LA Tiktok office vlog though ✌️
Thanks for the videos man! Helps to give insight into what it’s like to work at a large organization like TikTok. Thanks for the referral link as well.
Would be cool if you could do a video on what those of us who are learning to code should be focusing on in order to get job ready. A lot of the bootcamp/course space really only talk about basic crud APIs. I’m very familiar with how to do all that but I feel like there’s much more I still need to know before applying. Since you work at a big tech company, it would be cool if you could do up some sort of frequency list of the most common code/features you work on as it may be a good indicator of the skills us learners should be honing. Just a thought :)
Hyped to see your channel grow so much - but with the effort + quality of the videos it definitely makes sense! One question - at Amazon our PRs are called CRs (code reviews) so that's what I'm used to, but why are PRs called "pull requests"? Aren't you essentially getting your commit reviewed so you can push it to mainline (i.e. a "push" request)?
so we actually call it an MR (merge request) at TikTok, I just used PR since it is more commonly used on GitHub/more developers are familiar with that terminology. But yes agreed PR makes no sense haha, appreciate it man :)
@@armankhondker So I just looked this up - you're requesting for mainline to "pull" its next commit(s) from the changes on your branch, so I guess it makes sense from that lens.

Arman - I'm a 38 year old - would you say there is a stigma with being an older engineer? You're obviously young but would appreciate your perspective about 30 somethings in your office. I've had a successful career in another industry but am looking to get into coding.
not at all! I respect all the devs who are older and still working with and even out-pacing the younger devs. If you are older in the field, it's clear that you have passion for this industry. Overall, tech is a very accepting place and that's been consistent wherever i've been
Nice vid bro. How many programming languages do you know? And how many are required for a typical SWE role at TikTok? Or any other faang company for that matter
I wouldn't say I know too many that deeply, but I am comfortable with most tech stacks nowadays. It isn't really about how many languages you know, it's more about the depth of your engineering skills and how you can quickly ramp with new tech/languages. This comes with experience and time
