As a working example, I was (some decades ago) in a newly amalgamated team. We were sat in a group to get to know each other. One individual started needling me, clearly intending to provoke. Tension in the room climbed as the others fell silent. I was untouched and unaffected by what he was saying and so he ramped things up until he said 'why aren't you reacting?' I said 'In order to react I'd have to attach importance to what you say and as you haven't said anything of the slightest importance so far I see nothing that I need to react to'. That drew a laugh, so he had one last go - 'Why do you talk like you're reading from a book?' - 'Why do you talk like you've never read a book?' I replied. Another laugh. We were solid workplace friends thereafter. The point is, I had no power to stop him being provocative but I had absolute control over my side of the coin and therein lies the truth in the quote.
With a lifetime endless depression with schizophrenia and Christianity involved all these three troubled my mind. This philosophy of the stoic is new to me, this is my first time watching your channel and essentially can help and uplift my mentality

some ok stuff...you're on the right path....but don't fully cling to any 1 philosophy...and ultimately this is all mind / thought. Sit / Be in silent solitude in nature for 7 days....this is where it happens. Also - drink in some hermetic philosophy - will take you to another level.
