    Honestly, I didn’t think I was gonna like your travel channel. But I watched it today, and I was filled with happiness, wonder, and even got tearful when I saw the lake and the mountains. Such a different culture than what we have here in Texas. Really a moving experience for me to realize what it’s like for people like you… (whom I feel like I know from watching your other channel over the last year and a half)… what it would be like for me to go somewhere far off like you have.
    The fact that we have huge, huge spaces full of people with different ways of living, different cultures than our own, is mind blowing.
    This world is so big!
    Thank you for taking me on a journey to India today! 🙏

    Thank you John and Tara for taking us along on your great adventure! It reminds me of the time we have raised our children in India for 7 years, well, we left 25 years ago, but some things never change, like the pinching of the cheeks. Our kids hated it as well. When out we always had the Dettol disinfectant spray handy to keep the kids hands clean, were strict with clean water and overall cleanliness. By the grace of God we hardly ever got sick. Wishing you an awesome time in this amazing country of India!

      Indians are friendly people hence they do cheek pinching out of love. And Not just to foreign kids, you will find Any random person doing cheek pinch of any naughty, active, smart, good looking Indian kid as well. People usually don't mind as we Indians live with family, culture and traditional values.

    • @noornoornoor23
      @noornoornoor23 5 месяцев назад

      @@pradym2497 as an Indian, I will be teaching my kids about consent and boundaries and about saying no if they don't feel comfortable with a person pinching their cheeks or whatever. Whether the person is a stranger, a relative, or the parent themselves. Love and all is great but respecting everyone's personal space is something we Indians need to learn a bit more :) Love is no love if it makes the recipient of love feel uncomfortable. Best regards.

      @@noornoornoor23 Ok ask for consent for showering 1 second of love on adorable little kids, make the whole human relation mechanic Not spontaneous. Great going. For some of your types every aspect of human life and relations is about perfection....

    • @noornoornoor23
      @noornoornoor23 5 месяцев назад

      @@pradym2497 I don't know what you mean by 'your types' and all. I would request you to keep this conversation respectful. I am sure there's something we can learn from each other, even if we may have different views :)
      I understand that you think spontaneity in showering love is reduced when you bring in the concept of consent. At the same time, I have seen way too many instances of young kids/toddlers receiving some physical affection from elder relatives and at times getting very upset. Seeing such instances of these little kids being upset, often very upset and even crying, makes me feel that we need to be a bit more aware of whether the particular child in the particular case at the particular point of time wants to receive our love. Because if our intention of showing and showering love makes the recipient become upset or cry, instead of feeling loved, then as elders our hearts will hurt from that too. And as loving elders I guess the last thing we would want is to upset cute little kids, na.

    I'm so glad you've been enjoying your time in India with the boys. I'm sure John is well aware of this having been there several times, but for those who may be traveling to India but don't know, most food or water borne illnesses you'll get as a traveler in India are easily treated with antibiotics, which are (for better or worse) available over the counter at local pharmacies, which are everywhere. And it's also relatively easy to get house calls in your hotel or guest house by a local doctor who can treat the illness if it's more serious or you're more worried about it. Hospitals, especially in big cities, are generally excellent quality, and you'll get very good health care if you need to go in (recommended to contact a doctor if you're very sick for more than 24 hours). You're less likely to get sick at street vendors serving hot food. And twice I've gotten sick eating at certain five star hotels. It's always going to be a bigger risk when you're eating out at restaurants rather than eating home-cooked food (which is almost always safe to eat). But after about my fourth trip to India, I figured out the basic rules and stopped getting sick.
    Again, I'm sure John knows all of this, but for those who don't: only eat food that is hot and freshly cooked; eat cut fruit only if it is cut open in front of you; choose very popular places, and places where local mums are taking their young children to eat; no ice in the water or other drinks (five star hotel restaurants are usually okay for this, but not always); bottled water only (check the seal, if the seal is broken or loose, get another bottle-reputable vendors will exchange no problem). Most homes use water filtration systems, so it's almost always fine to drink water given to you in a cup in someone's home, especially in more developed areas. Brush teeth with bottled water, even in nice hotels (unless you are 100% certain the hotel has a reverse osmosis system for tap water). Tea is safe to drink, as the sugar, milk, and leaves are boiled with the water. Lassis typically include water and often also ice, so be cautious-choose popular, reputable vendors. A lot of homes have clean tap water these days, but most still don't, so best not to drink or brush teeth with water from the tap unless you know for sure it's safe. This all becomes second nature after a while.
    I also travel with a travel UV filter for situations where I need to brush my teeth but don't have any bottled water left (I actually need to buy a new one, I gave my old one to a friend in India who does a lot of traveling, he uses it all the time), and next time I go to India I'll probably also take a Life Straw water bottle that includes a carbon filter, because I sometimes go to pretty rural places. This together with the UV filter makes safe drinking water that also tastes okay. The UV filter makes clear water technically safe to drink in terms of bacteria and viruses, but Life Straw carbon filters improve the taste and safety of the water by removing things that can make it taste foul and can damage your health in other ways.
    This can all helpful for anywhere in the world the tap water is suspect (which is true in developed countries, too-it includes some parts of the US these days, for example, where water infrastructure has not been well maintained, though these are not typically areas tourists will visit).

      @@anadorsamp3560 Nah, it's not that big a deal when you go, within a couple of days you get used to the kinds of things you should do to stay well and avoid the various digestive infections. A lot of people are really afraid of getting sick, and it doesn't have to be inevitable. If you do get sick, medicine and medical care is pretty easy to get, especially in larger cities where most tourists will be. India is a wonderful place to visit, with a deep and diverse culture, amazing people, terrific food, and lots of things to do and see. After traveling there extensively for many years and living there for a while, it's one of my favorite places in the world.

Its blood boiling sometimes reading their so toxic stereotypical comments about the places they never visited or stayed longer to experience. People judge rest of the world based on where they live instead of having open mind🤦 They don't know they have nothing but privileged life in their rich countries. The real world and oldest civilizations are outside which they consider as backward or third world countries with full of wonderful things n people 🙌🤦

To take off my shoes for me a no no. I did that back in Hungary in the 70's picked up some bug took me over a year to get the fungus out. Love to see all but the price to high to pay. You are so brave. 🫂🫂🫂🫂 Keep healthy please and thank you to taking me into a place I will never see in person. Looks like Indian people very caring and kind. 🫶

    India is a mixed bag, especially for people coming from a quiet country and still quieter countryside. It overwhelms with sheer number of people and noise and cities like udaipur and Varanasi are noisier. As an Indian living in India, i had tough time handling the nose in Varanasi but the city was magical.
    You are being smart about telling people that you are willing to be photographed but not the kids or Tara.
    Take a day off from sightseeing to just give rest to your senses. I'm not surprised that kids are experiencing sensory overload.
    When in Delhi, check out Carnatic Cafe for a meal and don't forget to order coconut water. It's the best electrolyte for the body - all of you will love it and especially the kids.

    How wonderful you're in Udaipur. I was just watching another travel couple who were also there driving round India in their tuktuk! You're so adventurous going there with your toddlers. What amazing experiences for them. When I was there we took a boat trip, with massive fruit bats flying around us, out to the hotel/restaurant in the middle of the lake for a scrummy evening meal. Happy New Year Newby's. I was so looking forward to this vlog and once again guys, you didn't disappoint so cheers for that. We were in Italy with our 5 and 7 year old grand kids earlier last year. Our grand daughter has long, almost white wringlets, quite pale skin and the bluest of eyes while our grand son is fair, green eyed and quite tanned. Both kids got a lot of attention, compliments and people wanting to touch their hair which was a bit annoying at first but afer a couple of days the kids started trying to speak Italian to the people and they had such positive engagements with everyone that it turned into a joyous learning experience for them. The best part was that they are both now going to conversational Italian classes in their after school time. They are also saving very hard for our next family holiday which will be to Canada for a white Christmas. We're in Perth W Aust and it was 37 here Christmas day. I thought it was glorious but will confess to being very excited to experience a cold and hopefully snowy Christmas just once.
