I'm Indian-origin, outside of India for my entire 40 years. I moved to India on a whim at the beginning of the pandemic. I knew just the basics of Hindi and the local language where my grandparents were from. And it feels like I finally took a breath, and my arms were filled, and my heart was beating.

Just watching this makes you realise why India has 1.5 billion people and yet has some of the worlds most recognisable and magnificent animals, all living in harmony, while the country races ahead economically. I hope India’s ancient culture is preserved on its march to modernity. Thank you for this video.

What glorious experiences. Thank you for showing me why my grandmother, American born and raised with a life well lived, adored India and both she and my grandfather had converted to Vedantism before they met. She dedicated her later life working for and becoming dear friends with Swami Nikhilananda who founded the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center in NYC a Vedanta Temple. My grandmother traveled with him throughout India. I knew the Swami as our family friend but was not old enough, nor schooled enough to travel with my grandmother who sadly passed away when I was seven.
Crusoe for sure will have some vivid memories of this trip. You are giving us all such a wonderful visit. Thank you so much for every post you make whether from Portugal or your travels. Happy New Year❤❤❤❤Ellen

Henna is part of tradition but their is cool reason behind that henna makes our body cool and controls our tension while seeing that beautiful design 😅.
Google answer if you won't believe.
to utilize its natural medicinal herbal remedies, cooling the body and relieving the Bride of any stress before her big day. Henna is applied to both the hands and the feet as a means of cooling the nerve-endings of the body, preventing the nerves from tensing up.

I've said before how good it is to see the real India in your videos, this one took it to another level with all the people you met along the way. They were just regular folk (if you can say 'just' that makes them sound like not much, they were so friendly and welcoming and that's a lot).
The 'Wattle and Daub' building materials were used in most of Europe until transport made cement more accessible. There are still stone buildings where it's used for internal walls and I know of cottages not much more than 100 years old that still have wattle and daub roofs.

17:35 There is a reason why the house is made of -
    1)Sticks & Grass for roof
    2) Mud - Cow dung mixture for plastering of walls & floor.
Rajasthan is mostly an arid & desert state , During summer avg temp is around 40 - 45°C and peaks at 50°C , so
1)Roof needs to be porus & ventilated which is achieved by grass & wood, if you cover it with terrace & you don't have external cooling system, during noon , one will come out as boiled egg!
2)The walls & floor are plastered with Mud mixture bcos it has a water retention capacity , so during summer with hot winds blowing they sprinkle some water on the walls so the room remains cool from inside. Also the plastering is not permanent they reapply it on monthly or season basis. To maintain its uniformity & water retaintion capability.
These are all traditional ways to counter nature in absence of any electricity or gadgets.

My 2 most precious takeaway from that experience was 1) how awesomely they honor their elders and 2) how resourceful a family of 22 is while living in a 1 room (albeit large room) dwelling.
I hope that the boys have this same opportunity again when they are older! Much love to you all!

India is very sacred land. Its been called as "Land of liberation " by spiritual masters for ages. You will get the extraordinary experiences if you immerse yourself into rural spiritual India. It will touch you forever. You wont get these experiences in city lives as cities are similar everywhere in the world, fast paced, materialistic and self centered

What a wonderful adventure you are having!!! I had a similar experience as you had. We lived in San Diego, California while raising our children. Since we lived so close to Mexico we were able to vacation in places where our children had opportunities to play with the local children - successfully without sharing a common language! My favorite memory was visiting with a friend who worked in San Diego and lived in Tecate, Mexico. Jose invited our family for a visit to the home he had built to meet his wife and children. Although his house was modest, (Some Anglos would call it ramshackle.) Jose was so proud of it. Jose and his wife greeted us so warmly. The best part was how our children got to play with their children and kittens! Again, not sharing a common language! We were sent home with freshly homemade tortillas and the best memories. I can't wait to see your next amazing chapter! ❤ Prescott, AZ

When you are traveling with kids, it's all about kids. As parents we are over protecting most of the time. We tend to underestimate how much kids are able to adapt. We are worried for them but kids just manage it, without fuss.

Wow- what amazing experiences you’ve been having. Wonderful to see how the boys are taking it all in their stride. Glad you’re documenting this - whilst we can enjoy it now, the boys won’t remember it in years to come as they are so young so it’s great you’ll have the video evidence to replay for them in the future and for you keep and cherish the memories yourselves. Can’t wait for the next episode.
Ps it will be interesting to hear what’s been the highlights AND the lowlights for yourselves on the trip (there’s bound to be both). I’m with you on the nervousness when abroad and taking in a ‘scheduled’ experience that it might be more staged than authentic but you have struck it lucky with some of yours. Cheers to you all.
