Bharat is a massive country compared to tiny uk. You should be fair and show all parts of BHarat where you get real luxuries you wont be able to afford the rich malls where you kids will get what you cannot afford in uk and then you purposely go to smaller places where kids are stronger and well looked after just not pampered because they are not spoilt. DO not give cliche statements this is reality-everything is reality-the reality is you guys stripped BHarat the golden bird bare muurdered people stole the jewels and much more and then come to Bharat and talk condescendingly as if you know everything-such pompous stupidity still exists? Correct your statement by saying if you come here they may nore blah blah blah but all places are not the same-omg western dumb wit-edness.

As an Indian (from the North-East, where the culture is quite different from mainstream India) living in Europe, I have always struggled to articulate what I feel about India. I often tell my girlfriend, India is an experience and that's it. It brings out all kind of emotions. India will make you mad, disgusted, happy, scared, amazed, irritated, melancholic, relaxed, enthusiastic, tired, lucky, shitty.... You stay in India long enough, it will bring the best and the worst in you. Somehow, after getting to know the world better, I have grown to love and appreciate India more than ever. It's not perfect, but that's exactly is the point.
P.S.: I have zero regional patriotism. I also believe in a diverse but united India.

The pollution wasn’t bad and whilst there was no Taj Mahal the Jain Temples were beautiful and the beach at Mandvi was lovely. Love love love your travel to India. Visited a while ago and lived there for 8 years. Incredible country. Did not like Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal and Hyderabad but loved the rest of our stay and travels across Haryana, Maday Pardesh, Odisha, Chandigarh (except Punjab influence on it), Daman and Diu, Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Mysore, Madurai and many places in Utar Pardesh. We want to visit northeast next time. Also felt that our media and academia in the US does a disservice in portraying that country. We actually enjoyed visiting temples and exploring Hindu way of life through vegetarian food (such a heaven for anyone vegetarian), yoga and learned about ayurveda. Hope Indians themselves can preserve all the goodness. Did not get used to the traffic and pollution so mostly stayed in places on a bit more upper middle class yet smaller towns. People are very hardworking there and seem to have gratitude. Very close to their families as well. Hope to visit again. PS: Forgot to add. It was surreal to see how welcoming and keen on sharing people are in that part of the world.

I have always tried to take spices from countries I travel to for work to make food for my homebound children when they were young. I believe as a biologist that creating 'culinary imprints' in the brain of our babies can make them easy to adjust to foods of distant lands when they grow up and travel. I can surely vouch for it now that my grown up kids feel at home when they try supposedly exotic foods for them. You are making your babies world ready by doing this. Thank you for visiting my homeland, India even though I am geographically far from her.

Travelling with kids has to be different to travelling as adults. I took my kids on a 3 month trip around Europe (ages 10, 8 and 3) we took a trailer tent and purposely avoided the cities and stuck to the countryside - it was perfect! Because we drove we could go to places away from transport hubs (cities!) it’s a great way to plant the seed of curiosity- I now have three young adults who love to travel and see themselves as global citizens. My eldest studies international development and we have great discussions about global issues. Don’t hesitate to take your kids travelling - the world isn’t just beach holidays and hotels! I agree that India is a completely different world and has a place in my heart ❤️ (and I’m just back from Morocco - which was equally incredible!)

It's more difficult to travel in West than in India. You have loads of transportation options available like auto rickshaw (tuk tuk), bus, cabs, trains, planes, Rented cars, Rented bikes, metros etc. Food is extremely cheap, just that you need to know were to pickup from. Vegetarian food options are plenty hence you would never starve. Yes for First class train tickets you need to book in advance as seats are limited and very few travel as they are a little expensive. Second class with 2 or 3 tier is a good option. If you have a local person helping you, things are sorted else you will have to juggle but if you ask for help people are more than willing to help. Sometimes the problem with foreigners are that, they end up staying and eating at shady places which makes their experience bitter. They go to places were even the locals don't visit. Pollution is definitely there, it's good to use mask but if you stay in outskirts or villages then air is fresh. Pharmacy are available everywhere and even the doctor clinics. You need not have to take appointments weeks in advance to visit them. Traveling alone is adventure if you aspire for it. Always seek locals help whenever in doubt. Have a good stay in India and make us feel proud. Lots of love from India 🇮🇳

I agree with you both, it’s so amazing how much kids cope with travel, often better than we do. Our son was 4 when we did our first overseas trip. We did an around the world trip and we we away for 10 weeks. OMG the things he experienced and learnt. He’s a very social person and just like his late father, can hold a conversation with anyone. We travel with a cheap stroller, this allowed him to rest and sleep when needed. Food was never an issue for us, in Asia we didn’t eat on the street, every where else we ate where the locals did. He ate everything and anything, nothing delighted him more than having something new. Kids are awesome travel partners.

Best time should be from mid February onwards when its not that cold or hot and sultry. That's one idea. However the best to me personally is in mid October onwards in North India and then gradually move down to South India just to avoid the pollution problem as you indicated.

The pollution in North India is particularly bad during the winter season because of the stubble which the farmers burn in that season to prepare for the next crop. Coupled with that is the fact that there are more vehicles in Delhi than in any other city in India. North Indian cities, especially Delhi, should be avoided in winters. The best time to visit Delhi is in summers and monsoon between April and September. In winters south India is safe, including the cities.

hello , my name is Greta i have found your page , i live in Australia , i have travelled extensively In India , but my heart filled with love so much when i saw your family in Goa . i have my partner in Goa and unfortunately haven't been able to get back for the past 5 years .
i thoroughly enjoyed the videos of you all in India , and i take my hat off to you those you chose to share India with your young children .
you are correct , most people actually underestimate children's ability to adapt to different situations, but it was also because of your incredible parenting style that they were able to also enjoy what you showed them .
they seemed to just adapt to anything that was put in front of them on a daily basis .
i will look forward to the day i can also return to India and go to many of those places that you showed on your travels.
and i will continue to watch your family on the videos , kind regards Greta Martin

Newby's, I for one think you are incredibly brave for spending five weeks in India! India is a magic colorful place, but the fact that Crusoe and Sawyer did so well is simply down to you being amazing parents!! The wonderful things they saw and did will be with them forever! Sawyer's going to need more travel to get the experiences that Crusoe has had but he's catching on just fine! 🐪🐫🐊🐉🐶

Good on you. My son is now 23. He's been all over the world with me starting at 9 months.. Could have used some of your info many years ago. Would have been fun for me to do a RUclips Channel way back then like you are. Just returned from 2 months in Europe yes it's so much easier to do trips on the fly making reservations the night before for the next place these days than years ago. How exciting to see your travel adventures. Hoping to get back to Portugal again in April. I don't know how I survived the long flights with my son back then now I am older and the flights and airports are becoming more tiring...Carry on. See you on the Portugal side. Hugs my friends. THANX FOR SHARING. Lots of Editing don't know how you keep up Tara?

Great vid guys, I admit I think my wife and I would have baulked taking our kid/s at the age your little Sawyer is at, only because there would be a lot of effort and the age might be too young to remember later on but I was very excited to see how much Carusoe took in, how much he was looking around and helping to look after his little brother. And he can talk about it afterwards and you know he has his memories stored. But what a great trip and those curries, and the smell of them would be heaven on a stick, we love curries and would have them with every meal….especially breakfast (nice veggie curry).

Places like Shimla , mussoorie, mukteshwar, Kasauli & other places are a good option to visit in India.
About places to stay plan to stay in hotels or resorts which are expensive
    Like ITC & Radisson.
Such hotels will not only cater to all your needs but also offer excellent service In terms of food & other activities for you & kids too.
Places like Delhi is polluted so plan to travel by cab & avoid taking tuk tuk.

It sounds like you did a great job with helping the boys be resilient. It's been my observation of families overseas that the parents set the tone for the children. Yes, children adapt, but they adapt best when they know they are safe, loved and can watch how their adults handle the good and the bad well. That doesn't mean parents don't get upset or out of sorts! But how conflicts are managed so children feel safe is the best :)

It is well known about high pollution in Indian Cities. Research is very important before you travel if you cannot follow daily news on environment issues etc. As I said Indian cities are densely populated which is well knows to find jobs to feed their families. Hence Population is dense and emissions from vehicles is outrageous. I am glad John quickly realised that his past experience as solo backpacker did not work well travelling in India with kids. You were brave to rough it out with kids. Although There are better ways to travel within India with more comfort.

Dear friends, Tara, John, Crusoe and Sawyer. What a challenge and what a blessing you did not catch any virus or turista while there, yes, the curry is phenomenal and other Indian cuisine but as you said you needed to be wise for your little boys. Glad you forgone the pollution and went to Goa, too bad you did not stay longer to visit south Goa and it's historical Portuguese heritage. However, the most substantial and imposing Portuguese mansions can be found in rural areas of South Goa, such as Chandor (the Braganza House), Loutolim (Casa Araujo Alvares and the Figuerido House), and Quepem (Palacio do Deao). These mansions are open to the public and contain a treasure trove of historical memorabilia. Next time on a Tuk-Tuk as Crusoe mentioned. As I recently mentioned, Crusoe slept well because he spent his earlier year on the back of his Daddy John. Well, we love ❤ these little boys because they each have different characters and talents to draw you, like when Crusoe was feeding his brother Sawyer and he kept eating but then stopped by telling him with his head nod he did not want anymore. Precious!!!!😊😊😊 To your next adventure. Many blessings🙏🥰👶👱☺️🏡🌅🇵🇹👏👏👏💕

I take my hat off to you both. I remember when our children were Crusoe and Sawyers ages driving from Mutare to Joburg and back on holidays and breaking up hours of sitting in a car by staying either at Beit Bridge or Messina so the kids could burn some energy. The best times to leave were at midnight so at least they were sleeping for the first part of the journey ( but dangerous on the roads, so had to take it slowly). The Beit Bridge border was horrendous to get through (going back 20 years) and couldn't help feeling that my children were going to get ill from all the pollution and flies etc. That was only 1000kms trip one way. You guys, travelling around India for 5 weeks!!! I know I wouldn't be able to cope with that. Well done. Im sure you're happy to be home

This was very interesting Tara, though I must say travelling with children to India would not have been my choice to go as you say one has heard of the Deli belly. After watching you and John with the boys going there I had very mixed feelings and I guess I would rather go far away from the cities. It was a very interesting vlog watching you in India and I guess I will keep it to that and just watch and enjoy and thank you for sharing this travel in India which I did appreciate and enjoy very much and it was wonderful to watch the boys and how they adapted so easily (as children usually are). Thank you for this really lovely video Tara, it feels like you're in my kitchen talking one on one sharing candidly with a close friend. One of the best things about you guys is your genuineness, and it's SO refreshing to follow people like you in a world where there's too much image preoccupation, if I can put it that way. You're the antidote to the Kardashians syndrome LOL. On a travel note, I traveled to several "third world" countries, as we called them, when my son was little, when I worked in international development. It never occurred to me to see if I could bring him on one of my trips abroad, most likely because in the back of my mind I felt the living conditions where I would be visiting were not safe enough (water/food contamination, getting sick from playing with other kids in unsanitary environments, violence, traffic...). After listening to you in this particular video, now I realize that it might have been an important step to have taken him with me on occasions. It would have helped both of us grow in some ways, for including him in that part of my life, and taking the chance and knowing it'll will be okay... Thanks for helping me have that realization. Love you guys.
