    UPDATE: After 24hours sitting the the trailer at normal racing PSI (10psi), the tire shrunk back down to 88.5".
    Putting new shoes on the car for this weekend, and decided to check roll out/circumference of the tires to make sure they were the same diameter. Being that M/T tires are behind and limited on stock available, we got the last two tires in the warehouse. As luck would have it, the numbers were way off from each other so we had to try to stretch the small tire.

    When you buy new tires make sure that the mold numbers are the same (match). If not, your rollout will vary for sure.
    Never had issues once I started doing that. Also, I ran the same 28x10.5S at 10.5 psi warm. Great results and repeatability.

    Hey John when putting tubes in tires you may want to air up and let air out 1-3 times to adjust and make sure there are no knots. It's actually a pretty known problem that can cause alot more problems. Just a suggestion.also will throw off size. You have One if the most interesting, entertaining and informational channels around. Great job.

    Good video, some things are not so obvious!
    We would have this problem with new perelli tires on new dealership cars, you couldnt get the car to go straight, then you swap the tires and the pull changes sides.
    We would have to put new tires to fix it

    • @wizzkidelectronics

      Oddly enough they usually stay once and a wile you have to rotate if the car has alot of uneven bite . Just put the one thats a tick longer in the right rear has been my deal ... the first burnout on new slicks is the most important

    Medium prepped tracks on a 275 pro. Turbo fox 1500HP 1/8 mile deal. I run. 1.80 glide with a 3.27 gear. Any improvement to be made going to a 3.55 or 3.73 without it being a wheelie monster?

      It depends on the converter. Mine has a 3.90 now and it seems better. But too much starting line ratio will become an issue at some point.

    I remember waaaay back 70's. 80's all the Pro Stock guys did this . Bob Gillden said he put 80psi. in them! I'd recommend no one try that.

  • @n2fastcars635
    @n2fastcars635 3 года назад

    I bet your tire will change back to where they were before you stretched it. You really need to do a couple heat cycles on the tire to make sure it stay's. I leave tires for days over inflated then drop the tire pressure over the course of the day before a race. I raced Karts for 20 plus years and we stretch and shrink tires all the time to get the stagger set. Front and back tire stagger both will change scaling numbers quite a bit FYI. I'm sure any sprint car guys could really help with Hoosier tires. I dont think i would go 40 psi for days but if your going to run them at 11 psi then go like 20 psi for a day then bring them back to 11 and then check after some time like half a day to make sure there still there. Always wondered if drag racers use tire prep? Good luck!!!

    • @TurboJohnRacing
      @TurboJohnRacing  3 года назад

      I don't use any prep. Thanks for the info too, good stuff!

  • @Justintimemetal

    At what mph do you reccomend going to a stiff sidewall slick. I've been running the regular 28x10.5 without a tube (even though its reccomended). I switch back and forth between the et slicks and Hoosier qtp dot bias plys. I've noticed both move around a fair amount the last 330.

    You wanna know why there was only 2 Mickey's in the warehouse? Mickey decided to close their production facility when the whole country started racing due to the election infection. That's a great buisness model. BTW I have had a set on order for 2 months they kept telling me two weeks.
