I considered this hitch but hesitated because I had questions about hitting at up/down and side to side angles. My truck's rear end is up pretty high at the point it has to be in overt to hitch with the trailer. I worried this hitch wouldn't be able to accommodate those potential problems. I also have need for hitching and unhitching at angles demonstrated in your video footage. You did a great job expiating exactly how to GET the hitch to be at the proper angles in order to successfully hitch up. Thank you. You've made my hesitation about the potential purchase of one of these hitches that much less. 👍
Just bought and installed this hitch on a new trailer. Ive had a hell of a time hitching it up. This really helped! Tows so smooth like a fifth wheel .
Thanks for this informative video. Just got back from a trip where I was getting frustrated with hooking up my ProPride. Now I know to do the work when unhooking to make the rehooking easier. This video is worth rewatching a few more times.
Great job, you do it exactly the same way we do ours. And for you guys thinking about buying a ProPride , I strongly recommend it. Sean and Brent will be so proud of your video. If you take two minutes to do what you did on unhooking the hook up is so simple.I’m looking forward to purchasing the V2 W-D jacks. Have fun and be safe Mike and Heidi.
Excellent video. I just bought a trailer with this hitch and the previous owner did not show me this process. We “jammed” the stinger in with no adjustments on the tension bars, which, explains why I was telling my wife the hitch isn’t set up correct because my F350 felt light(er) in the front that when using the Blue OX hitch. Such a great video. I am a huge fan. You have a great voice for this and you provide great info. Can’t wait to see what else you have. Thank you so much.
One tip I’ve read about (but not used personally, yet) is to mark the safety chains (tape or paint) at the point where they just touch the ground when the receiver is at the (normally) correct height for hitching up (or unhitching). It’s taken a bit of practice, but we are now able hook up and unhook easily. I still use a tape measure to get the height of the receiver close and then G.O.A.L. (Get Out And Look).
We bought a used 27 ft trailer with dual opposing slides at the rear. We also have a 2020 F150 eco-boost with max tow package. It has plenty of power to pull the trailer at 6043 pounds. However, with any crosswind it was absolutely terrifying because of the sway. At 60 km an hour, I don’t know what that is in miles per hour, we thought our truck and trailer were going to roll. Our last resort was this hitch. It made all the difference in the world with towing even in high winds. It is definitely more tricky to hook up but we are hoping your video will make it easier this year. I really like the tip about having it set up at the campground for easy hook up when the trip is over. You may hear from us again in May😜.
Lol I believe it's easier to hook up, though sometimes tricky.. Also the company has the best customer service.. Make sure to join Propride on Facebook...
Thank you for this great video. It took us an hour to detach the first time and not without stress. After watching the video it took me alone 15 minutes and most of that time was trying to figure it all out. Very helpful!!!
Learning a lot after towing my enclosed car hauler over the past year … this hitch seems like a nice addition and money well spent .. good demonstrations here!
Congrats! You 2 definitely will get more comfortable with it.. We are new 5th wheel owners and hitching the propride up is much easier.. lol safe travels..
Wow, this was an excellent explanation of how to hook this up. We’ve had it a few years and just selling our camper. I was looking for a video to share with the buyers. Great job!
Ran a ProPride hitch for several years with our TT before moving to a 5th wheel. Loved it, and was actually a bit sad to sell it. Will NEVER pull a travel trailer without one!!!!
Just purchased a used (new to us) TT and had issues hooking/unhooking the hitch. I just watched the video....Thanks for the angled hookup....mine is at approx 45° angle to the trailer. I will be resetting my hitch so next time, this will go more smoothly!
When I get my Rockwood 8336BH. I'm putting one on. The videos helping. Keep them coming. You doing a very good job on explaining different parts on the ProPride hitch
With all the negative comments about how difficult the P3 is to hookup I had almost decided to go with another set up but with you walking us through each step of disconnect and connection of the P3 I am totally sold on this one. Thanks for such a detailed walk through. Is there code word I need to use when I make the purchases?
Brent has also pointed out in recent videos that you do not have to fully seat the stinger. The tapered area can be shy by at least 1/2” and the OCLs (Over Center Latches) will pull the assembly together.
Absolutely true... but I'm not sure why during backing you wouldn't allow the vehicle to do it for you. I mean, you're already lined up and you are inserting the majority of the Stinger into the receiver already and If you're half an inch short of the fully seated position you then you need to manually use the overcenter latches to pull either your truck backwards or your trailer forward that half inch that it is short of.
I need to ask a question. I dont understand the video from 4:36-4:56 where the trailer appears to be swinging around violently. Can you explain what I am seeing? We are considering this hitch.
Are you referring to the correct video? The timestamp references that you indicate in your question shows me talking.. as a matter of fact I don't believe this entire video I show any driving..
Nice video, thank you. We are looking at changing from Equalizer to either propride or hensly. Our driveway is at a 7 degree slope down ward, trailer is far from level. If we buy a propride can disconnect and connect. I cannot with the propride.
Sir I appreciate your in depth walk through. Can you please explain how you were able to achieve the downward angle on the stinger. I have a Hensley Arrow and I have to backup into my camper on a on a downward angle for my truck. Very aggravating at times.
Unfortunately, the Hensley does not offer that option. That is one of the reasons we went with the propride hitch. It is adjustable for not only different angles but also different heights.
Great video, im learning a lot from your vids. I am now going to check my install of this unit based on your vids. One question, i noticed your safety chains are outside of the weight distribution bars when the manufacturer clearly statesthey go under the bars. Did I miss something? Keep the vids coming!
Love the video and I'm really interested in the 3P hitch. It may have been out for a while but this is the first time I've seen it. The question I have is, how do you know your putting the weight back to the steer axle? The reason I ask is, because I used to drive tractor trailers and I'm medically retired now, but if we needed to move weight to the steer we slid the 5th wheel forward. Keep in mind that the 5th is centered over the drive axles where the figuratively speaking tongue weight is. I'm not understanding how tightening or loosening the weight distribution bars on the trailer which is now behind the vehicle instead of on it, adjust the weight on the steer. Can you explain or do a video of how that actually works? Thanks
He sort of mentioned it in the video. Imagine that those weight distribution bars are like the handles of a wheelbarrow. When you lift up on the handles, the front of the wheelbarrow points downward. The same thing happens to your truck when you increase the tension on the back of the weight distribution bars. The difference is that with the wheelbarrow the pivot point is at the wheel whereas with the weight distribution hitch, the pivot point is at the hitch.
I think I need to get a picture of my stabilizer jacks and stabilization bars to Propride. I noticed your bars stay pretty straight at your joints mine buckle up and I have you put my foot on them to straighten back out at the joint.
Lol you won't be disappointed.. We had one for over 2 yrs. Definitely a great choice, please mention our name when you order or use The link 😁 thanks for watching!!
Once hooked up that can all be manipulated out of the way and as you're raising or lowering it you can push the weight distribution bars out of the way for it to clear. In a very rare tight situation all you have to do is pull the pin and take the foot off of the straight post.
Thank you for the informative video. What keeps someone else with a "stinger" from hooking up and rolling off with your trailer? Is there some type of device that locks to prevent someone else hooking up? As always, thanks for sharing! Steve
@@Rvdaydream After losing my 2608BS with ProPride P3 installed, I asked Sean the same question. He suggested looping the tow chains thru the OC Latches and locking them together. Sadly, any lock can be defeated, but in my case the thief cut off the coupler latch lock and removed the PP hitch. Drove off with the normal ball coupler. :-( Mike, Great video. You illustrated all of the things was doing.
Geeze, just found your video . I have an 1,400Lb Arrow and I’d say it slides in perfect about 25% of the time, needs a couple of trial and errors 50% of the time, and about 25% of the time it’s total aggravation. I’ll try your tips. Thank you for the video.
I have a jeep gladiator rubicon and will be pulling a "toy hauler " travel trailer from alaska to east texas. The distance makes me nervous due to other drivers not paying attention and getting irritated with my so.ewhat slow driving.
Great video. Thanks for all the hard work you did! Still on the fence on buying one of these hitches. My only concern is that my driveway slopes fairly severely for the first 10-12 feet before it levels off. The rear of my camper barely clears, I had to flip the axles on my old camper to get it to clear. I also had to cut the bottom off my hitch and it still scrapes a little. Hopefully it looks like this hitch might be a little higher and might solve that problem for me. I also think the better weight distribution will keep the truck read a little higher. I will definitely use the link to purchase if and when I do. Just picked up my new camper and drove back across Nebraska and the winds were a killer. Stay safe out there and thanks again for the great explanation!
I have a snappad on the foot of the tongue jack and was curious whether you fully retract the tongue jack to clear the spring bars. My set up barely clears the bars when fully retracted
At extreme angles I would loosen bars and push them out of the way with my foot while retracting OR in extreme cases I would remove the two-part Jack foot entirely and then straighten out the truck once the Jack was retracted and reinstall the foot once everything was back in the line
The tip about just lifting the trailer ball coupler off of the hitch head was a game changer when I first learned about it. You can put your finger in the space in front of the coupler as there is no pinch hazard there. You literally want to stop raising the coupler (lowering the tongue jack) as soon as you feel the coupler rise. If you keep going, you are quickly trying to lift the ball, which puts load back on the hitch head.
My driveway and street are NOT even close to level! How do you hook and unhook in that case? Only drawback I see to this. Advise or insight appreciated!
If you tow in high wind areas the ProPride (and Hensley) hitches are the best you can get to control/eliminate sway. Given your truck and trailer combo it’s probably total overkill for you. However, I can see one other advantage to those hitches. I have a bad back and switched from a travel trailer to a fifth wheel because I had an Equal-i-zer 4 point WDH that had very heavy sway bars that became difficult for me to carry and manage when hooking up. With the ProPride I can see it would be much easier on my back since there is no need to carry and install the sway bars. Even at a few thousand dollars it would have been less expensive to get that hitch than to buy a new fifth wheel! If we decide to downsize from the fifth wheel, this hitch would make hooking up a travel trailer much less painful (literally!)
You nailed it! Heidi wanted nothing to do with the "snap up" design of the traditional hitch design however, she always participates when connecting up to the Propride... 👍
@@Rvdaydream Totally agree. The Blue Ox latches and bars were just as more lifting and twisting than I liked. The ProPride eliminates all that assembly fuss with a short breaker bar and a speed handle.
The ProPride manual (at least the last one, Sept. 2021) on the unhooking part says to firstly raise the central jack and then lower the lateral jacks till they are loose. So the opposite of what I have been doing and what you showed. Do you think it would be better the new way?
Thanks for the answer… Well, I’m kind of wondering if the tension in the lateral jacks would end up keeping the hitch to move on the ball - I guess I’m going to see it soon, I’m moving tomorrow and I’ll try the new way… :-)
I frequently hitch and unhitch on a downward slope (2%-3%). Would that be a problem for the propride? Would I have to do anything different than what's in this video?
@@Laurant956 I was going to ask the same thing as my 2500 with the auto level will adjust when loading weight into the bed of the truck. The truck moving up or down will complicate the use of this hitch for sure. I assume changing the control setting on the console to Tire Jack Mode like you would use when changing a tire will turn off the auto level function and allow you to make the necessary adjustment to the P3 as demonstrated in the vid. Nice work on the VID BTW.
What happens when you add more or remove weight from the truck after uncoupling? Like arriving with a quarter tank of gas(48 gallon tank) but filling up before you rehook.. So many reasons when you go to hook back up the stinger height could be different than before... Especially if you are not on concrete or asphalt RV pad... In 80 percent of private parks and state parks in Florida you park the RV in sand grass meaning the Tow vehicle is backing through those same ground conditions... Best way to get close is measure RV receiver height at unhook once the stinger easily slides out.. That's why I ran a Level Mate Pro...It also Allowed for finding level parking spots when staying hooked up for quick overnight stays.(Walmart, Truck Stops, Rest Areas)
Let's put it this way, my wife didn't want anything to do with hooking up the travel trailer when we had a traditional weight distribution snap bar set up. After we got the propride she did half of the hitch process.
@@MC-hs4mf yeah our son was looking for a car and in Colorado they all had high miles and were over $5000-$6000! Prices are high on everything right now. We are always looking for the deal of the century on a used car, right now they are overpriced..
@@Rvdaydream I agree they have a learning curve, and it looks like a great hitch. And a very informative video, however, I'm satisfied with my traditional weight distribution hitch, it serves me well. I have a 2500 Ram pulling a 25 foot bumper pull trailer with no problems. Tom, I have a 5.0 w/stop and go. Truck has a very accessible deactivation button right on the dash. Just takes a little bit of repetition to get in habit of pressing button after start up. There are also videos on how to permanently bypass it.
Well, My wife was never willing to help with the traditional style WD bars as it was heavy lifting, greasy, and required lifting the Truck and trailer together with the tongue jack and she was always concerned with "overdoing" or overstressing the jack... WITH the ProPride she did alot of the hitching herself as it was far simpler to do and took less effort, time and it was always cleaner...
Yes and no. We bought a fifth wheel after this trailer I wasn't very pleased losing all that storage underneath my truck cap and not being able to utilize my bed the majority of the time. Plus some people can't afford to fifth wheel. That's what Travel trailers are by far way more popular..

Thanks for the answer… Well, I’m kind of wondering if the tension in the lateral jacks would end up keeping the hitch to move on the ball - I guess I’m going to see it soon, I’m moving tomorrow and I’ll try the new way… :-)
My truck has a 6 inch lift. Anything I should be concerned about regarding that?
Got to start with the right drop bar... From past setups, The higher the Truck the worse the tow experience
Great info. I wish you posted this years ago.
I frequently hitch and unhitch on a downward slope (2%-3%). Would that be a problem for the propride? Would I have to do anything different than what's in this video?
Slight learning curve but no issues..
Thanks
👍👍👍👍👍
thank you!
One of the easiest hitches to hook up ~Heidi~ we have since moved on to a 5th wheel & I still think the propride is easier, lol
What window deflectors do you have on your truck Windows?

How would this work with rear auto leveling suspension?
It's tricky... Here is a video link... There will be another in that videos description to watch too.. ruclips.net/video/UfsJE94Vmc4/видео.html
@@Rvdaydream It covers airbags but not rear auto leveling airbags that cannot be completely disabled like on the Ram 3500 dually 🤷🏽♂️
I measure the stinger height when I hook up and I've never had a problem unhooking. I don't know what you're doing.
@@Rvdaydream It can be off a little and still work. Would have to take a lot of weight to take out.
Nice!
Thanks Bill 😁👍
Good information. Thanks!
Thanks. Great video. I have decided not to get a pro pride. Too much work.
There are people around the country that will install it. Once installed it's awesome
@@Rvdaydreamseems complicated when booking up.
Hooking up is easy.
Let's put it this way, my wife didn't want anything to do with hooking up the travel trailer when we had a traditional weight distribution snap bar set up. After we got the propride she did half of the hitch process.
Insert da’ stingahhh!
Seems like this would be a pretty straightforward process or the human population would it be expanding. LOL
Some day I will buy a propride
Its honestly scary that if you cant do this simple task, youre out on the road putting so many women and children in danger.
You have an extra ebike ? My suv engine blew going to Louisiana.
Oh no that stinks that happened.. Sorry we sold our Rad City bikes a few weeks ago..
Walmart has some great bikes.. While they are not electric, it would get you to places easier than walking.
@@MC-hs4mf yeah our son was looking for a car and in Colorado they all had high miles and were over $5000-$6000! Prices are high on everything right now. We are always looking for the deal of the century on a used car, right now they are overpriced..
@@Rvdaydream when did he go to Colorado?? Yeah there’s a chip shortage and caused a shortage on new cars.
@@MC-hs4mf we were there looking. Prices were crazy.
You sure do gild the lily
Thank you! 👍
Nice hitch, but looks like way to much trouble to fool with for me.
They all have learning curves... This one makes it worth the effort..
Anyway, I enjoyed the video.
I heard carpet bombahs overhead!
I hate those flying footballs wish I could shoot them all...
@@Rvdaydream we call the seagulls near the coast, dump ducks amongst other things.
Your truck does it have to have commercial plates in ohio.If so does that cost more for insurance. Were i live vehicle over i belief over 6000lbs u need commercial plates. Was thinking about going with the f250 for my next truck which i dont really need for my boat but not crazy about those engines on f150s no turbos with a 6 cyl engine for me.The 5.0 has the stop and go technology and cylinder deactivation not crazy about those either.Chevy and rams are out dont trust either one for long term reliability.Tundra i would have went for but they stopped making the v8 for 2022 models.Want to buy new dont want a used truck.
Tom, I have a 5.0 w/stop and go. Truck has a very accessible deactivation button right on the dash. Just takes a little bit of repetition to get in habit of pressing button after start up. There are also videos on how to permanently bypass it.
We do not need commercial plates in Ohio...
@@fitfifties Thanks for the reply that i was aware of could live with that but then theres the issue of cylinder deactivation.
You can’t fool us Mike! That “clip from 2019”, you just changed your clothes, but forgot to change your shoes!! Same shoes now!! Lol.
🤣🤪
How can you say this is easier ??????????????
Well, My wife was never willing to help with the traditional style WD bars as it was heavy lifting, greasy, and required lifting the Truck and trailer together with the tongue jack and she was always concerned with "overdoing" or overstressing the jack... WITH the ProPride she did alot of the hitching herself as it was far simpler to do and took less effort, time and it was always cleaner...
Just buy a 5th wheel amd not have to fool with that stuff.
Yes and no. We bought a fifth wheel after this trailer I wasn't very pleased losing all that storage underneath my truck cap and not being able to utilize my bed the majority of the time. Plus some people can't afford to fifth wheel. That's what Travel trailers are by far way more popular..
