  • In this video I show you how I designed and manufactured my 4-axis CNC controlled hot wire foam cutting machine.
    I use it to cut foam cores for the wings of RC model airplanes.

    Servus, ich finde Deine Konstruktion super. Kannst Du etwas zu den verwendeten Komponenten sagen? Die Umsetzung der Mechanik würde ich gerne übernehmen. Welche Schiene hast Du verwendet?

    Love to see more of this . Looking to replace my old machine. What airfoil do you use?

    4 axis machine means it can cut swept back trailing edge or swept back leading edge wings or only straight leading and straight trailing edge even wings?

      Thank you for your question! With this 4-axis machine, it’s possible to cut both trapezoidal and highly trapezoidal wings. The left and right portals can move independently, controlled by the appropriate G-code. Any necessary adjustments to the wire length and the current for heating are automatically compensated during the process.

    Hello, beautiful machine. I also made one based on Keith's plans and made a system similar to yours with a 360° servo and a servo tester to control the tension. I am using 0.014" Rene Wire so I need a little more power to heat up. What power controller did you use to keep the power constant in the wire? Can you send the model to buy it please? Thank you very much.

    Amazing! Where can I learn more about this machine? (Maybe a post on Facebook/forum) I'm really interested to learn more about the dynamic tensioner

      Thank you for your interest.
      As I point out at the end of my video, I learned a lot in the YT and website (rckeith) made by Keith excellet. My dynamic wire tensioner actually uses a simple technology that I have not seen anywhere else. It perfectly compensates for even the slightest change in length between gantries while keeping the wire tension constant at the desired value.
      Maybe I'll make a short video soon explaining the construction and function of the dynamic wire tensioner in detail.

    I'm particularly impressed by the tensioner ..other automated attempts require complex calculations eg ruclips.net/video/KfWDov1mHDg/видео.htmlsi=D5LVb4Spexa7i9uN..and the overall design and relisation of the machine.. details of the tensioning mechanism would be of great interest to me ..and I guess several others

    Ist es möglich solch ein Gerät bei dir zu kaufen, da dein Datenblatt auf deutsch war, nehme ich an das du auch aus Deutschlan kommst.

    how dynamic tention wire , work ?

    • @risi-swiss
      @risi-swiss  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your interest. In my experience, this is a good solution to compensate for changes in wire length while maintaining exactly the same wire tension. However, it requires precision mechanical skills to realize.
      Please understand that I can't report on this in detail now, I'm very busy at the moment. But I will give you the most important information as soon as possible.
