I miss the territory’s. All Star Wrestling was my wrestling world. Until my first wrestling magazine. Late 70’s were the best. Playboy Buddy Rose, Roddy Piper, Rick Martel, Sheepherders, Don Leo Jonathan, Moose Morowski, Ron Bass, and Ed wiskowski.
There were other fine legends in Vancouver. Dutch Savage, The Brute(Bugsy McGraw), Mr. X/Guy Mitchell, Siegfried Steinke, Dean Higuchi/Ho, Iron Mike Sharpe, Chris Colt, Yaki Joe, Bobby Bass, Igor Volkoff, Erich Froelich, Joe Ventura, Salvatore Martino(Bellomo).
I have to honestly say, that I didn't even know this territory existed, so I am learning a lot from these documentaries. What I grew up with was Central States Wrestling, which ran shows in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. We grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and our Parents did tell us about St. Louis Wrestling.
This brings back so many fond memories for me...I was a teenager at the time and went to a fee tapings with friends...it was so much fun and got to meet more than a few wrestlers
Honest to god, I am a huge wrestling fan and I am from Vancouver (went to the same high school as "The Canadian Earthquake")... This video means the world to me...
We had several field trips in elementary school to the weekly tapings off Lougheed Highway. Funniest memories was watching Morrier interview the wrestlers after their matchs. Gene Kiniski was the best as Morrier just stood there holding the mic while Kiniski yapped non-stop but always congratulated Morrier for his great interviewing skills...LOL. Bulldog Brown was the same except Morrier needed a raincoat because of Browns spittle. Steven Little Bear, Don Leo Johnathan, Dutch Savage, Haystacks Calhoun, the midgets...the list goes on and on with Kiniski the legend of the scene. The bad guy everyone loved, sorta.
NWA losing Canada 🇨🇦 to the WWF was a huge blow to the promotion. I grew up in Toronto watching NWA and my friends and I loved it and preferred it over WWF . Ric Flair was way better then Hulk Hogan.
That opening song was the opening and closing theme to All-Star Wrestling after host Ron Morrier's passing. Never liked it. I much preferred the classic opening and closing themes of ASW during the Ron Morrier era of the 70's and very early 80's. It had an orchestra-marching band sound to it...THAT was All-Star Wrestling.
I have fond memories of watching All-Star Wrestling in the 70s, via CKVR-TV from Barrie, hosted by the great Ron Morrier. Gene Kiniski, Don Leon Jonathan, Bulldog Bob Brown, Moose (The Black Avenger) Morowski, Dean Ho, Moondog Ed Moretti, Eric Froelich and others made it a very entertaining hour each week. If Al “The Egotist” Tomko had focused on promoting instead of making himself the headliner, the territory would have lasted a lot longer. Ed Karl did an admirable of hosting a show with some decent talent, but the Master Sergeant effed it up…
I'd just like to point out that CHAN channel 8 and BCTV channel 11 are *one and the same* . BCTV is the *name* of the channel, whereas CHAN are the *call letters* . Also 8 is its *over the air* channel, whereas 11 is its *cable* channel.
ASW should have never changed its longtime classic theme in favour of the Warriors theme. The change happened after host Ron Morrier's passing. Poor move by Al Tomko and/or BCTV.
Watched this at the grandparents just before hym sing came on. tomco once lost a bet to Ed Karl and owed him a steak dinner. Al brought out a meal with a wooden steak instead of meat lol
You skipped out all the top stars such as Don Leo Jonathan, dory funk sr, Abdullah the Butcher , tolos bros, Rocky Johnson, Bobby Shane , Jimmy snuka, Jesse Ventura, Roddy Piper, Rick Martel, Jake roberts, iron sheik. The brute (bugsy McGraw) , buddy rose, rip Oliver, Jay Youngblood, the sheepherders, Adrian Adonis, Dutch savage, the original kangaroos, the assassins, bearcat wright, hard boiled haggerty , Dean Ho, Don muraco, David Schultz , etc etc
The original All-Star Wrestling opening and closing themes were awesome. Unfortunately, they were discontinued in favour of that crappy Warriors theme after when original host &:announcer Ron Morrier passed away.
Vince fucked everything up, he should be lobotomized. He's a POS! Seattle is so corrupt, politically, then and now, how could they be against some good Ol rasslin!
If you like what you see, help support the channel and throw a few bucks in the tip jar!!

thanks i appreciate that
I was really young, but I swear I thought I saw big john studd there for like one match. But Maybe i might have confused him with john tenta.
No mention of Bruiser Costa? For shame! That said, im glad to see Vancouver's All Star Wrestling get some attention.
Bruiser was the best, one of my favorites on the mic!
Dont forget Leo
I had no idea that Mauro's career in pro wrestling started so long ago...
You taught me something.
You should watch his documentary if you are a fan

I remember Vancouver all star wrestling would come on at 2pm after maple leaf wrestling on Saturday afternoons in Ontario
NWA losing Canada 🇨🇦 to the WWF was a huge blow to the promotion. I grew up in Toronto watching NWA and my friends and I loved it and preferred it over WWF . Ric Flair was way better then Hulk Hogan.
It’s amazing how these small territories were able to be profitable.

Did Froelich ever win a match? LOL...He was the resident punching bag as I recall.
Yup , Al Tomko killed Vancouver wrestling with his greed and bungling.

4:15 Don Owen doesn’t always drink adult beverages but when he does he double fists his drinks 🍹 🍹
Was wondering at 7:05 if that's Mike Shaw (Bastion Booger), he wrestled there under the name Klondike Mike
Unfortunately yes.
Please do JWA(The Predessessor to NJPW & AJPW).
good video
That opening music is from the movie The Warriors,a movie based on gangs in1979 LOL
ASW should have never changed its longtime classic theme in favour of the Warriors theme. The change happened after host Ron Morrier's passing. Poor move by Al Tomko and/or BCTV.
The Staples I remember Gene Kiniski. Eric Frolic. Don Leo Jonathon. And they had the midgets on a lot
the opening music made me want to run fast.
The Warriors I believe it is
Wish I could find some episodes of this. Ws opne of the best from the 70s

A bunch of bums in this promotion
When Al Tomko and his out-of-shape ego took over. Brought in all his friends from Winnipeg.
Maybe after Tomko took over but during most of the late 60's and 70's it was good.
I miss The Brute and our announcer Ron...uh, Moreah
I grew up with ASW.
I never knew there was a king kong bundy rip off
A fat out of shape wrestler who pushed himself to the top? Sounds like Dusty Rhodes to me.
Tomko then began pushing his son “Rick Davis” as the top star in the promotion. Pathetic.
Another blunder that killed Vancouver wrestling.
Background music was horrible!
The original All-Star Wrestling opening and closing themes were awesome. Unfortunately, they were discontinued in favour of that crappy Warriors theme after when original host &:announcer Ron Morrier passed away.
it is one hundred percent AL TOMKOS fault- BOOOOOOO , Gene kiniski never should have sold
