I am a bachata and salsa teacher running beginners classes and these are exactly the same topic I talk about with my beginners students.
They often come having all sorts of expectations, after watching videos on social media. ❤❤❤
Happy it helps. We are in the same boat. Our main “job” is teaching. We have our school, teaching from 7 pm to 10 pm so We know the reality of what is happening and we try to help as much as we can.
Show them this video and tell them Marius said in order to be a good dance you must lower your expectations and increase you the work.
same thing ;)). The girls are used to dances at the club, were everyone tries to touch them ::D:D they afraid to dance with everybody, searching for their partners to come together, but they ae not willing, girls want to drop dances. Yeah, as instructors we work a lot as a psychoanalytics :/

Am here for myth #4. Those couples that avoid the circle drive me mad 😂😂
They work against them because they stay in their comfort zone and if they don't bother anyone else, okay... but they won't become better :D

Myth no2. I have to disagree 50%. You are right in some way. You HAVE TO work on your body otherwise you cant’s do few moves, especially the older generations, who has more stiff body. Come on! you both has spine problem in the past. I heard many times from the follower has back/neck pain next day after a long social. If everybody dances like you said, simple moves focusing on the music could prevent that. But most of the followers (higher level) due to social media want flashy moves.
Myth No5. In a Pink Unicorn World could be true. In a real World unfortunately, the followers doesn’t like to dance with beginners and some leaders too (but mostly girls). The only followers who are humble with begginers the instructors, because they know how hard work from the leaders become good. I’m a strong intermediate/low advance leader, still found girls who are dancing with boring face, because my style is moderna, based on lots of turn patterns, and I don’t use many flashy sensual loops.
While what you said it's true, it is on a "separate" topic. We didn't say you don't have to train, but you don't have to be a gymnast to dance bachata.
We are talking about myths, that usually stop people from even starting, not from continuing.
About your experience with myth n5. maybe it's not the followers but what you transmit. Don't shoot the messanger but it depends on how you actually dance, regardless of the level you have or not.
I have a beginner student (1 year of experience) that is hunted on the dance floor not because of his dance style or his abilities, but because of his charisma (and well, he's trained by us 😅)
In short, more comprehension about the situation leads to better understanding of the problem and solution. It depends on the perspective.
@@MariusElenaBachata I don't think one year experience counts as beginner. I am talking about 4 weeks ones who knows couple of moves and wanted to try socials. They have bad experiences. Why more girls in the socials? (even tough my town more guys start to learn then girls) Because the first year or two is harder for the leaders.
