You know guys, I really appreciate these reaction channels. I've been getting mindfkd by major depression for the last decade and a half. I've been heavily isolating myself for the last decade, which makes it worse. But... just having cool peeps to chill with on youtube over some of my favorite musical groups has helped me keep my sanity and to some extent feel as if I'm not nearly as isolated as I've been. I enjoy sharing your first experience listening to some of my favorite music and I just wanted y'all to know that I appreciate you. In my own little world, y'all and quite a few other channels are my "circle". I just wanted to shed some perspective on a side of your audience you might not have thought about and to let you know that while you may just be reacting, you're making a bigger impact on others than you might have expected. Thanks for sharing your time with us. Peace and love, my brother and sister! :)
We are grateful to be in your circle & glad you are in ours, Chris! Being able to create some positive energy in someone's day while enjoying these experiences together is why we love doing what we're doing! Peace & love to you too!
For me, the more I listen to Slipknot, the better it gets. This song is about when you allow others to let you lose your soul, your identity. “The limits of the dead” you can’t live when you let yourself get in that mode. Duality is one to hear when starting out with Slipknot.
they are more over talking about the bad society "go dig your desserts go dig your graves then fill your mouth with all the money you will save" probably reflecting on propaganda behind USA v IRAQ war. The name Psychosocial basically telling us about the social psychopaths we have more and more every day
@nancymjohnson wow, that's real deep. I never knew that about this song, I have to listen to it a hundred times to understand what the message is of the song I'm listening to
This song is about him trying to talk out against the iraq war, and how the "orthodoxy" of the time was YOU CANNOT SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THIS!!! just like the ukraine, and isreal now. How the wars are so sacrosanct(ABOVE REPROACH), psuedo (SU-DOH. AKA FAKE, he is saying all of the BS, AND THE FAKE NARRATIVE IE: LIES ABOUT IT, ALONG WITH WITH IT is driving him nuts. How people were destroyed talking about the truth of it. that is why he is calling himself a martyr. he was speaking out about it. How we have all these politicians claiming to be fighting fascism. while they are the actual fascists.
I understand the thought, but in that idea form, I would say more or less Duality. Duality has a more minor level of heaviness that overall for its song and its video, is less hectic in general overall than this one.
Entry level Slipknot. This is exactly where you start. "It's got a good beatdown and you can dance to it" Welcome to the Slipknot rabbit hole. Fun reaction.
In case nobody else suggests it, Slipknot "Spit it out" live at Download 2009, "Snuff" official video followed by Corey Taylor playing "Snuff" live, you will be surprised.
Welcome to Slipknot, this is a perfect song to start. Duality, The Devil and I, Dead Memories, Snuff (official video first, the acustic with just Corey), Spit it Out (live Download version) Solaway Firth.... and many, many more
Y'all should check out Stone Sour if you haven't. Corey's voice is badass. Through The Glass and Bother are the two that really stand out in my head atm, but they have some good music as a whole.
Would be keen to see you react to ‘Through the glass’ by Stone Sour which is the other band of Slipknot lead singer, Corey Taylor. Think your minds will be blown by the contrast in vocals.
Slipknot takes a couple times before you can enjoy it. Before totally giving up on them, at least check out Spit it Out live at download festival 2009. The crowd control from that man is epic and the drum kit is cool too. Slipknot isn't my favorite but they're cool. They jam.
Every reactor likes Slipknot more and more as they listen to more songs. Can't wait to until you get into the more songs. Their lead singer Cory is known for having one of the widest range of voices in music. I'm positive you will like alot of their songs.
I remember this song really grew on me over the years, and now i love it so much. The more you listen to this genere the more you start to appreciate aspects of it, and you will eventually like more and more heavy stuff imo.
Subliminal Verses Volume 3 is the album that got me hooked on these guys. When I was younger the louder, heavier music gave me a headache, unfortunately. As I've aged I can appreciate it more as my hearing isn't as sensitive as it once was. From my understanding, the OG Slipknot listeners hated the album because it was too commercial compared to their original sound. I'm not a music snob and love experiencing new music without too much judgement. It either sounds great or it doesn't. In my experience, some music just takes quite a few listens to really hit you the right way, so I try not to write songs off as crap until I've given them a legit chance. Mood and life experience can change one's perspective about a song too, so again... I try not to be too snobby/judgmental when it comes to music.
Duality would be a good one to check out next. After that my favorite from them Nero Forte, Devil In I, Before I forget, Wait n Bleed and Unsainted and more and more and more...lol
Slipknot songs normally take a listen or two before you can get past the shock value and pick up on the melody and song meaning fully. The lead singer, Corey Taylor, is extremely talented and an amazing songwriter.
You guys should definitely listen to the live version of their song Snuff. It’s just Corey Taylor (lead singer) in his rawest, most emotional form. He has an amazing voice and his range is insane. Snuff is just him, his acoustic guitar and his heart in his sleeve with no mask. I think you guys will love it!
Slipknot is one of my favorites of all time. I highly highly recommend listening to snuff, dead memories, before I forget, yen, and vermillion. Please check out one of those next!!!
Corey Taylor the singer in Slipknot also has a band called Stone Sour where he sings like when is singing in the “hook” , we used to call it the chorus, so the man can actually sing
Idk man. I was introduced to Slipknot at a listening kiosk at our mall record store in '99. (sic) melted my face off and I'm still loving it 25 years later. Love Slipknot. Always.
There are songs that you have to listen multiple times to get an accurate opinion. I think you should know that. I am not fan of Slipknot, but this song is a masterpiece
I actually love this one from them, but if you want a different vibe, with a less harsh/aggressive vocal, go for "Snuff." It's a heart breakingly beautiful song. I think it might be something you guys could really enjoy from them. ❤
This is one of their more commercial tracks.... Try People = Shit (live London 2002) or Spit It Out (live Download 2009) They mix nu metal, thrash metal, groove metal, death metal, heavy metal, rock, hip hop, rap and more If you want some crossover rap/metal try their song No Life!
I believe that at 13:00 when you thought there was a weird effect added to the singers vocals, that was back up singers chanting "Psychosocial" over and over. And if you want to see another band that did the mask and costume thing first, and took it a step further, check out GWAR.
So, I had to laugh, when I saw the title. Even though it's been a year, I wasn't sure you guys were ready for Slipknot. But, you're also fair and Slipknot is not for everyone. They have a huge catalog, all very different, and the more you listen, the better it gets. Sam would like Corey's other band, Stone Sour. A little less aggressive, but still packs a punch. His solo work is also great, and he's a fantastic songwriter. Thanks, guys. Can't wait for more of anything with Corey Taylor!
This is a great example of reacting more to the video than the song. I think a straight audio version with lyrics if they want to follow along that way.
Of all the RUclipsrs that have reviewed this video the most entertaining is the blonde therapist that does rock videos that help with peoples mental health
Ya like what ya like, ya don't what ya don't. Simple. The appreciation of every artist is obvious. No harm no foul. Keep going, keep rocking \m/ Personally, I enjoy Slipknot's first album more than their catalogue of music. However, anything Joey Jordison (drums) is an absolute banger. R.I.P. Great reaction y'all 🖒🖒
You will develop your ears to understand the vocals the more you hear metal. Reading lyrics while you listen helps to train yourself to understand. Also listening to so many different types of metal in the beginning or your journey might take a little longer of that makes sense.
Most people hear the heavy beginning and think thats all they are. Definitely not. Corey Taylor is AMAZING! (The whole band is really...RIP Joey Jordison) Corey has a beautiful voice anyway he does it.
Just a heads up, it's not "the preservation of the modern me", its "the preservation of the Martyr in me". I love watching slipknot reaction, especially from people who haven't heard them before. I really enjoyed your reaction and will be back to see more reactions!
Iowa farm boys, corn-silage-swine. Des Moines in the middle which is a college town and state capitol. the percussionist sings backing vocals through their mask. i agree Phil you touched on the point of commercialism of metal music. in the beginning jeans, t-shirt, and long hair, very few tattoos. now look at it as Phil has stated.
This reaction made me want to subscribe. Even though it was not your general style of music the fact that you guys at least are trying to get the music is great. They have more melodic songs. Snuff being 1 of them. Corey’s vocals have gotten clearer after his throat surgery. You guys should also check out Nero Forte. Think you guys would enjoy the different but similar sound by them
Nice, you're the first reactor I've seen that picked up Paul Grey's vocals behind Cory Taylors. Here are the lyrics for you: Ooh, yeah! If it's hunting season (psychosocial!) Is this what you want? (Psychosocial!) I'm not the only one! And the rain will kill us all We throw ourselves against the wall But no one else can see The preservation of the martyr in me And the rain will kill us all We throw ourselves against the wall But no one else can see The preservation of the martyr in me The limits of the dead! The limits of the dead!
If you want to have a huge contrast from psychosocial then listen to snuff . To totally different sides of the same coin. The band has many amazing songs in different ways. Lots to explore.
A perfectly fair reaction to a very unique group. I really enjoy the energy of this song. You might try Nero Forte by Slipknot. Pull up the lyrics so you can follow along though. Corey's vocals are easier to understand with actual lyrics. This video had inaccurate lyrics displayed.
Aw! Poor Sam. For most of the first half her facial expression looked like we were shoving slivers under her fingernails. Thanks for enduring for the songs we love.
If you really want to see all the different musical instruments, the Heretic Anthem video really shows a lot of what they're using to make a lot of the different sounds I feel.
I love Slipknot but I understand that they are not for everybody. But they have many different styles of music. Try out their song Snuff. It's a great video but they also have an acoustic version. Hope you give Slipknot another shot
You know guys, I really appreciate these reaction channels. I've been getting mindfkd by major depression for the last decade and a half. Please...go thru their whole music history...then you understand Taylor and their exceptionalism with lyrics and music...

Don’t tell them nothing they are not worthy to know they are the what the song is about . They think everyone should e like them
@@JamesPennington-w9f why do you watch then?

I love the acoustic version of the song “Snuff” It’s a completely different side of Corey 😊
Live in London Corey is a Bad ASS
Duality is pretty entry level for slipknot
I understand the thought, but in that idea form, I would say more or less Duality.
Duality has a more minor level of heaviness that overall for its song and its video, is less hectic in general overall than this one.
Dead Memories might also be pretty entry level for slipknot 🔥
Entry level Slipknot.
This is exactly where you start.
"It's got a good beatdown and you can dance to it"
Welcome to the Slipknot rabbit hole.
Fun reaction.
In case nobody else suggests it, Slipknot "Spit it out" live at Download 2009, "Snuff" official video followed by Corey Taylor playing "Snuff" live, you will be surprised.
Welcome to Slipknot, this is a perfect song to start. Duality, The Devil and I, Dead Memories, Snuff (official video first, the acustic with just Corey), Spit it Out (live Download version) Solaway Firth.... and many, many more
Honest reviews is what we come for. Was perfect. You may be ready for "Duality".
Another excellent entry Slipknot song.
"Before I forget" & "Duality" are 2 must listens...you'll love it
Yes the singer COREY TAYLOR has a second band and yes has very beautiful singing voice..he's a few things wrapped in one..very talented
Corey Taylor...lead singer of Slipknot and also of Stone Sour who sings Bother...an all time favorite of mine!! such a vocal range!!
Some would say he must be stopped, though.
Hell yeah! I'm glad to see you hitting this group. The 90's and 00's have some great music.
Please react to “Before I forget” or “Duality”
Nice reaction guys, just give them a chance !
Slipknot takes a couple times before you can enjoy it. Before totally giving up on them, at least check out Spit it Out live at download festival 2009. The crowd control from that man is epic and the drum kit is cool too. Slipknot isn't my favorite but they're cool. They jam.

Slipknot goes much deeper than this and does many different sounds. If you guys continue to react to them you’ll find a song you really like
Slipknot is a very dynamic range of metal you should try before I forget from them , they won a Grammy for it!!
You gotta check out Corey Taylor (Slipknot's singer) doing "Snuff" solo live.
Check out Vermillion. It's a more chill sound from them.
Slipknot, before i forget. Love that song. This song is good as well.
Read and understand the lyrics. You will get it. They're actually deep.
Subliminal Verses Volume 3 is the album that got me hooked on these guys. When I was younger the louder, heavier music gave me a headache, unfortunately. We NEED more SLIPKNOT
Until you've grown into your metal ears, may I suggest pulling up the lyrics to songs you're reacting to as opposed to using the closed captions?
Duality would be a good one to check out next. After that my favorite from them Nero Forte, Devil In I, Before I forget, Wait n Bleed and Unsainted and more and more and more...lol
Slipknot songs normally take a listen or two before you can get past the shock value and pick up on the melody and song meaning fully. The lead singer, Corey Taylor, is extremely talented and an amazing songwriter.
it's worth looking for the lyrics version of the songs, people coming from rap usually enjoy the lyricism from Slipknot
You need to give them another listen. This time try Duality. They are an acquired taste for sure.

Slipknot is that band that their music lights a fire in you. It makes you want to stand up.
You should watch a lyric video instead. Sometimes the video will distract you from the message especially with Tool and Slipknot.
Idk man. I was introduced to Slipknot at a listening kiosk at our mall record store in '99. (sic) melted my face off and I'm still loving it 25 years later. Love Slipknot. Always.
I saw them twice because of my son (not my type of music) but their shows are adrenaline rushes. Great reaction
The coolest dad ever?!
Try People = Shit (live London 2002)
or Spit It Out (live Download 2009)
They mix nu metal, thrash metal, groove metal, death metal, heavy metal, rock, hip hop, rap and more
If you want some crossover rap/metal try their song No Life!
Hi Phil & Sam, I'm 65 and I was introduced to them from my son with this song🤟🤟🤟
Now your banging. These guys are actually very good. Keep up the great work buddy 👍
That line you mentioned is "the preservation of the martyr in me"
Check out Corey Taylor snuff acoustic
before i forget slipknot is my fav should def check it out
I believe that at 13:00 when you thought there was a weird effect added to the singers vocals, that was back up singers chanting "Psychosocial" over and over. And if you want to see another band that did the mask and costume thing first, and took it a step further, check out GWAR.
I would say Gwar "the road behind " is a good start with Gwar
So, I had to laugh, when I saw the title. Even though it's been a year, I wasn't sure you guys were ready for Slipknot. But, you're also fair and Slipknot is not for everyone. This is a great example of reacting more to the video than the song. I think a straight audio version with lyrics if they want to follow along that way.
Corey Taylor has the ability to go from gritty scream type vocals to clean pop vocals like it's nothing. Dude's got incredible range.
Also RIP Bassist Paul Gray and Drummer Joey Jordison
Check out Duality it's, IMO, the best introduction to Slipknot and the lyrics are way easier to understand.
Of all the RUclipsrs that have reviewed this video the most entertaining is the blonde therapist that does rock videos that help with peoples mental health
Ya like what ya like, ya don't what ya don't. Simple. The appreciation of every artist is obvious. No harm no foul. Keep going, keep rocking \m/
Personally, I enjoy Slipknot's first album more than their catalogue of music. However, anything Joey Jordison (drums) is an absolute banger. R.I.P.
Great reaction y'all 🖒🖒
You're in for a ride
Im ready are y'all 💯🤘🏽🔥
More Slipknot suggestions.....The Devil In I (great song, disturbing video), Duality, and the acoustic live version of Snuff.
I love seeing non metalheads react to metal it's so funny I'm a metalhead and I love slipknot so much
Dead on this is what got me hooked on Slipknot...there live show is awesome.
Spit it out - live at download. Great live performance
With groups like Slipknot its the sound that matter not the words.
RIP Joey and Paul.
Forever #1 and #2
You will develop your ears to understand the vocals the more you hear metal. Reading lyrics while you listen helps to train yourself to understand. Also listening to so many different types of metal in the beginning or your journey might take a little longer of that makes sense.
More Slipknot. Try some newer bangers. Nero Forte, Orphan, Solway Firth and Hive Mind
Gotta take a look at: The Devil in I; Wait and Bleed; Spit it Out. You'll be surprised how they show how diversive they are.
his lyrics are very intense and his vocabulary is wat beyond most people
Now you need to listen to stone sour and keep in mind it's the same lead singer
Love the honesty
Here's a few more songs to check out
Wait and Bleed
All Out Life
Nero Forte
Duality
Unsainted
Legends! Masterpiece! 💯
Let's get angry 😡 It is the United States after all. Perfect song for it.
Most people hear the heavy beginning and think thats all they are. Definitely not. Corey Taylor is AMAZING! (The whole band is really...RIP Joey Jordison) Corey has a beautiful voice anyway he does it.
Go back and listen to “Snuff” you will enjoy that!
Just a heads up, it's not "the preservation of the modern me", its "the preservation of the Martyr in me". I love watching slipknot reaction, especially from people who haven't heard them before. I really enjoyed your reaction and will be back to see more reactions!
Please do KILLPOP by Slipknot.
Your workout soundtrack is about to grow so much.
Music catalog spanning 25 years. It's alot.
Duality, vermillion pt2, snuff, and before I forget…these are the ones you should actually check out, this one is a brutal introduction lol
Sometimes you need a heavy metal song in your life xx uk 🇬🇧
I think those "added vocals" are former member Chris Fehn. He had sick backing vocals! 🤘
Slipknot- duality
I'm sure you will like 'Vermillion' from them.
You actually can try Slipknot - Dead Memories
you guys really should react to more slipknot!
one of my favorite (and underrated ) song is solway firth, it has a great videoclip too🔥
This reaction made me want to subscribe. Even though it was not your general style of music the fact that you guys at least are trying to get the music is great. They have more melodic songs. Snuff being 1 of them. Corey’s vocals have gotten clearer after his throat surgery. You guys should also check out Nero Forte. Think you guys would enjoy the different but similar sound by them
Welcome!
second post. band called CRYPTA song "from the ashes" live at wachen festival.
Nice, you're the first reactor I've seen that picked up Paul Grey's vocals behind Cory Taylors. Here are the lyrics for you:
Ooh, yeah!
I did my time, and I want out
So effusive fade, it doesn't cut
The soul is not so vibrant
The reckoning, the sickening
Packaging subversion
Pseudo-sacrosanct perversion
Go drill your deserts
Go dig your graves
Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save
Sinking in, getting smaller again
I'm done, it has begun
I'm not the only one
And the rain will kill us all
Throw ourselves against the wall
But no one else can see
The preservation of the martyr in me
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Oh, there are cracks in the road we laid
But where the temple fell
The secrets have gone mad
This is nothing new
But when we killed it all
The hate was all we had
Who needs another mess?
We could start over
Just look me in the eyes and say I'm wrong
Now there's only emptiness
Venomous, insipid
I think we're done
I'm not the only one
And the rain will kill us all
Throw ourselves against the wall
But no one else can see
The preservation of the martyr in me
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
Psychosocial!
The limits of the dead!
The limits of the dead!
The limits of the dead!
The limits of the dead!
Fake anti-fascist lie (psychosocial!)
I tried to tell you, but (psychosocial!)
Your purple hearts are giving out (psychosocial!)
Can't stop a killing idea (psychosocial!)
If it's hunting season (psychosocial!)
Is this what you want? (Psychosocial!)
I'm not the only one!
And the rain will kill us all
We throw ourselves against the wall
But no one else can see
The preservation of the martyr in me
And the rain will kill us all
We throw ourselves against the wall
But no one else can see
The preservation of the martyr in me
The limits of the dead!
The limits of the dead!
Before I Forget and Duality are great songs more intro songs, Before I Forget is maybe the best one.
If you want to have a huge contrast from psychosocial then listen to snuff . To totally different sides of the same coin. The band has many amazing songs in different ways. Lots to explore.
I don’t like their masks but love their music🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Those voices you hear will be Shawn Crahan and Chris Fehn, the two percussionist who do the backing vocals.
yeah, they are not gonna remember any of those names...
Check out the following Slipknot
The Devil In I
Kill Pop
Solway Firth
Wait and Bleed
Before I forget
I hope you give a few more of their songs a listen.
Before I Forget is a perfect entry level song for yall.
Aw! Poor Sam. For most of the first half her facial expression looked like we were shoving slivers under her fingernails. Thanks for enduring for the songs we love.
“Before I forget” might be a little more up your guy’s alley, its not as heavy of a song and personally I think it’s a catchier song.
If you really want to see all the different musical instruments, the Heretic Anthem video really shows a lot of what they're using to make a lot of the different sounds I feel.
Spit it Out is a good one to look at as well. Live at Download think 2009.
I love Slipknot but I understand that they are not for everybody. But they have many different styles of music. Try out their song Snuff. It's a great video but they also have an acoustic version. Hope you give Slipknot another shot
