With a ton of mounting evidence (including newly uncovered things), it seems the game is making a return to one of Warcraft’s most iconic places on Azeroth: Lordaeron. It was basically wiped out undead, yet is home to the beginning of humans and some of the most important human things in WoW, including Arthas, Prince of Lordaeron, who became Lich King. There are a ton of storylines that can be carried forward and made fresh, we might see an uncorrupted Lordaeron for the first time in-game, lots of political intrigue is possible with the allegations of a forgotten true heir to the throne from an evil anti-undead cult everyone loves - the Scarlet.

in all these years the alliance never had problems between them like the horde had… like 4/5 warchiefs and allot civil wars going on, now is the perfect time to give the alliance side a war between themselves, Andwuin coming back to take hes Throne many humans in the stormwind city dont want him on the throne, now is the perfect time for them make Turalyon go away from stormwind and unite the other human kingdoms to create a new order of the light with the Scarlet crusaders ,the league of Arathor and the rest of the paladins from argent dawn and Anderhol. let Turalyon get all those light order people back together and they cleanse Lordearon from the plague and they get back undercity for the humans as other capitol city. the undeads could get that back living in the underground or along side with the humans above, sense millions of the undead are priests and warriors along side with mages from the scarlet crusade. and now its the perfect time to interduce undead Paladin class in the game! why undead can be warriors / Holy priests and they cannot be a paladin? a paladin is a warrior that uses holy magic to heal and imbue hes weapon to fight! Taurens get their paladin class from nonsense! they one day they look at the sky saw the Sun oh look sun = paladin? blizzard stop making stupid stuff without a sense!
i am not an alliance player, for 20 years i love the horde and my orc warrior! but it would be awsome to see something like this to happen! i just give an idea of a huge patch and lore that blizzard can work with. DONT destroy THE TURALYON LORE he is the most badass guy the alliance have! let him be the King of Lordearon and Rule with arthas sister.
Turalyon could create the new Order of the Light by naming it *The purifiers* and bring the Light to restore all those places destroyed by the scourge of old!

The best possible next expansion would be a full revamp of everything north of the Thandol span, from Gilneas to Sunwell, Hopefully making Zul'Aman more than a hole in the wall and connecting Stratholme to Deathholme like they're so clearly meant to if they were on the same map. There's so many hints starting to point this way; Even the Silver Hand popping up in the DF Tyr questline. We must also remember The Hinterlands - with the Wildhammer Dwarves, A mix of troll clans, and even some of the only official alliance high elf NPCs, who stayed aligned with the Wildhammers (And mostly got killed by horde players in a quest). But I think that whole chunk needs some love too.

Calia might become a problem for the Forsaken eventually because that whole "bringing her back as the Light and she herself would have her be" is kinda concerning. I mean the only reason the light would want her as an undead is to control the only race that can resist its influence. Cant think of any other reason why the Naaru can suddenly bring people back as undead. So Commander Belmont has some good reasons not to trust her.

Bring on the Scarlet Onslaught. May they cleanse the land of undeath for good and all, which the weakling Anduin couldn't bring himself to do. Burn them all and salt the ashes--just as the mongrels did Teldrassil. No forgiveness, no mercy. If Blizzard actually does an Army of the Light-as-villain expansion, I hope they let us choose sides.

The problem stands. Whom are they populate this new Lordaeron with? Most of it's citizens are now Forsaken. Those who fled to Hillsbrad got rounded up later in Cataclysm or accepted Worgen curse in order to escape undeath.
Most of Lordaeron refugees lived in Southshore and Theramore which both got destroyed. Those who tried to return to Western Plaguelands also fell under Forsaken sword either during Battle for Andorhal or during guerrila warfare on the surrounding farms.
Stormwind doesn't have men to spare as they still have Westfall and Duskwood to restore. Unless Blizzard shits out magical numbers out of thin air that can rival Forsaken numbers then I do not know what else can restore Lordaeron.

Also there could be an angle using priests and paladins using the power of the Light to restore life. Think of how many times our toons are rezzed by those classes, or simply by ghost running. The Scarlets take back Lordearon, cleanse it and have their true heir take the throne and is threatening the entire continent/Azeroth somehow. Lordearon is a raid and and when the heir/final boss is taken down in the throne room it cuts to a cutscene. The heir uses the light to somehow immobilize/bind the heroes, all looks grim as we are surely defeated. The cutscene pans outside as a dark cloaked figure is walking down the entry to the throne room mimicking the cinematic of Arthas coming to kill his father. The figure once facing the boss is unveiled to be none other than Anduin, now quite aged/battered and more resembling his father but with blonde hair, battles it out with the boss in a massive light vs light fight and when the boss seems to be gaining the upper hand and will be victorious Anduin unleashes his void powers along with his light abilities, and slays whoever this heir is. This is Anduins reintroduction into the story and sets up a multitude of complex plot points to be future content. Anduin possibly returning to power, being the reclaimer of Lordearon but also being a deserter and also wielding void. Diving into where he’s been and what he’s been doing.

Canonically, the Forsaken should be the strongest faction following the Fourth War. They continuously raised the dead with every casualty taken & even made the slain night elves Dark Rangers. There's absolutely no basis for Genn to have the strength to take back Gilneas, its Forsaken territory. As for the Scarlet Onslaught, they got owned in Northrend, why have they suddenly returned?
Seems to me like Blizzard have yet again forgotten their own story in favour of "OOO LOOK WHAT WE'RE DOING TO THE OLD WORLD, PLEASE COME BACK"

Do you see a possibility that the Alliance will have a council like the horde, where Turalyon and Anduin will have more or less equal power? I could see that. Anduin could retain the title of King of Stormwind but it would be more like the position in the Alliance that Genn holds now. If Turalyon retains control of the Alliance united armed forces, he's essentially more powerful. I do not think that there will be a power struggle. I think that when Anduin returns, he will not want to be commander of the Alliance. It might be kind of like what Thrall did back in the day. I could see him focusing more on his priesthood and social projects and leaving the military to Turalyon.

Funny to me how people ha e forgetten how The Light is so fundamentally against the Undead, and fights them as vehemently as it does the Void (since undeath is part of Death's cosmic force, as made clear in Chronicles).
The Light resurrected the remaining heir to Lordaeron, then seated her on this council, and literally no one (in the playerbase) is suspicious of her?! It's hilarious, honestly. The Light is infiltrating Death. Rememeber, the Lich King (all iterations), and Sylvanas (the prinary leaders of the Undead) ALL server Zovaal/Death. You dint think the Light is gonna play infiltrator too?
Caelia is a plant, and you're a fool if you think she's not a sleeper agent for the Light.

This reminds me a sad truth how WOW is so focused on big threats on new continents that it often forgets to move other story lines forward. I would love to see bigger focus on updating the old world according to newest lore and proceeding with its stories. Even if it would be done as side stories during minor patches. Return the World to the World of Warcraft.
PS: I actually liked how in BFA we got more old world focus, stories, warfronts, it wasn't done perfectly, but we got something out of it that still lingers around and reminds us what happened, it made the expansion meaningful.

There's so many stories they could do with the original continents, I'd love to see lots of small factions fighting, like gilneas, the forsaken, blood elves, scarlet, silver hand, ebon blade, scourge, amani etc etc.
The only thing I'd worry about with this is how to make this an expansion that would keep people interested. One of the best parts of a new expansion is the exploration of a new unknown place. I'd love it if they could make it work, though.

This new expansion has been great in many ways, but it feels so sanitized. We've been helping people get married, raising cutsie baby dragons, peacefully ending rebellions with leaflets, etc. and even when we do fight, it feels more like Disney violence. I miss the Wrath Gate cinematic.

There’s plenty enough to make an expansion entirely focused on the existing world. I’m just not convinced that Blizzard can make such an expansion with engagement gameplay consistently throughout. Leveling could be solely story focused in the applicable areas. Revamp some of the applicable graphics. New dungeons, new raids, new reps. As a game within a game, I still think they should implement a thing where you do jobs on an active ship on the seas then through events end up as captain. From there you can explore some open sea things and islands, get new crew, upgrade ship in various ways, etc. It would be a lot of development work though.
The big unknown though is on whether Blizzard can make a good expansion when coming off of a full expansion. Remember that DF (and Legion) were born out of giving up on the prior expansion quite early and devoting extra resources to the new expansion.

They really do need to revamp the old world. People don't really play through it all. You could revamp all the maps to be current. Maybe have a main quest line that take you through each zone again and levels all the way to max level. Kinda like a second path instead of going through old Expansions.
