8:52 - For me it's: If everyone hurting, I'm hurting. But if I'm hurting then usually no one else is hurting 😭
😅
360 camera looks great! The 'fisheye' is kind of cool when changing angles more constantly but this is smoother. Such a different 2 races!
Now I know how Jeff takes the W so often. He's just getting so aero that his handlebars disappear!
Hi, I just wanted to drop a comment to say that this video was incredibly well put together! The content was top-notch, and it provided great entertainment. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you!
Great commentary, definitely like this camera setup better than the last one. Blaine seems like he just comes out to mess with you lol
1. The 360 cam is amazing, and definitely makes these videos much more exciting to watch.
2. Why don't you guys all throw like a $10 or a $20 bill into a pot and winner takes all? If anyone doesn't want to do that, they don't have to, they'd just be out of luck if they won. That would change the dynamic. Instead of people just sitting up and not chasing a break, they'd be working their butts off for a chance at that money!
good idea!
I got my $10 ready let’s go
Blaine redeemed himself. Good riding, kept attacking and as soon as his team mate was in the break he was all over Jeff, always on his wheel.
Also shout out to the guy in red. He found himself in a break with a much stronger rider. Yet he kept rolling turns staying within his limits (just). It was up to Jeff as the stronger rider and sprinter to drive the break.
The zoomed view is definitely better. I've watched dozens of your race videos now and still find them entertaining. Lots of people are posting similar videos now, but very few have figured out how to make the commentary interesting. Keep up the good work!
really looking forward to the "how-to" video! thank you so much for sharing your insights
You got it!
Love this old school NorCal content!
i really like the transition at 4:38, camera panning to follow the attacker, very smooth
360 is pretty sweet. Especially when you can follow the attacks from behind, up the side, and out front in one continuous pan.
Curious how much more work and time it takes to edit. I’m sure that’ll be in the how-to video. But nice work so far!
editing is really hard with the 360 cam mostly because of the constant reframing, and the fact that the video files don't play nicely with premiere pro which is what i use to edit. for example, audio is off and for the life of me i just can't figure out why
Maybe not the best for racing, but would be nice if the 360 was mounted slightly off center so you can get a better view behind.
You didn't actually put a link to the cam in the description. Get those affiliate clicks!
I remember this race! The day when Jerome and I pulled a fast one on the field and snuck away :D .
We were both committed up until the end. I pulled the last 2 corners at tempo, but thanks to aero, the rider behind me didn't get much benefit from the draft despite me leading it out!

360 cam is so dynamic! It feels a lot more like being in the race.
Solid video! Tough luck with them gangin up you 😂 that’s the worst!
Wouldn't it be nice if you could combine all gpx files so that we can follow the other riders on the map. Don't even know if it is possible
Do you have the link for the mount you use to this camera? I have one 360 camera too, but never find a mount for this position. Thanks
Hey nice videos! Can you share your setup with the insta360?
Killer race! want to join some time.
Loving the 360 Jeff! Agree on the front view - you'd never know it was the 360 (meant in a good way!) Also, what program are you using to power overlay? I'm still looking for a good alt to VIRB (since their GPS map bug finally hit me 2 months ago) EDIT: sure you got outplayed but what coudl you have done? 2 v 1 in a breakaway. Only Stannard can beat those odds!
Being a small, local, week-night training "race" why is the agreement not every man for themselves - no teammates?
cycling is a team sport, and like joe said it creates interesting dynamics
I road a similar race here in Sweden last week. Had wirtually the same ride. I have a fairly good sprint so people won't work together. I totally understand thou, I wouldn't pull with myself on wheel😁😎
If you did a triathlon, during the swim you could breathe through a sNORCAL 😁
you got jumbo visma'd in that one
Do they not close off the roads during the race?
If I'm hurting, it does not mean everyone else is hurting 😂
The camera looks good. Why are you not using the Trimm bike computer you were sponsored by a few months ago? I get that it was a sponsored video but you made it sound like you actually preferred it to the garmin. None of your other video after that one lookd like you were using the Trimm.
it's on my bike (winspace) and the garmin is on the team bike (cervelo). they are comparable for the features that I use, and the trimm is thinner, lighter and cheaper. Garmin has a bunch of features that I just don't use.
Jeff will you be racing any of Chicago Grit (formerly Intelligentsia) this July?
not 100% yet but i don't think i'll make it this year.
@@NorCalCycling sad to hear it. Always look forward to the Intelli vids!
I love that we can see the gritted teeth - makes it more personal! 😅
🔥
If you have their permission, it would be nice to see a pic of the people you always talk about (timmy, gereome, thirsty bear, etc). I know them by name only, it would be nice to have a face to match them
Good ol' G2 syndrome! jaja
When is the 360 how to video dropping?
Would be interesting to see the Strava data. I don't think anyone is going to mine your data in search for an advantage for the local 4 corner office crit 🙃🙃🙃🙃
"You know you've made it when this happens to you" ahh video (this happened to me)
Hey man why don't you use the 52|63 wheels?
I like them a little lighter and shallower for the snappy accelerations often experienced in crits.
Legend cheers mate
Red shirt could have been the chosen one.
No longer using the Trimm? Or are you waiting to check out the Trimm Two?
it's on my bike, this is the team bike
Feels very much like zwift racing to me this episode.
Says there is no draft and literally pushes 180 in the back and 380 in the front?
Coming to Intelli (GRIT) again!?
still working on it, but seems unlikely
Interesting comments regarding the aero positions of some of the other riders, Jeff. It would be cool to see you jump in to a wind tunnel and work on your own position, or get one of those aero sensors to play around with. Feels like I have a few less watts each year, so I have to find speed in new ways. I'm sure you're finding the same!
The 360 camera is cool, but I don't envy you the X4 file sizes or the reframing in editing. Also, you're suddenly on camera all the time now! Looking forward to some weird facial hair styles ;)
He did a video about aero position like a week ago, using a sensor
@@ianbent0n sweet. I'll give it a watch. Thanks!
Jeff, are you racing as a solo cyclist? Has Mike's Bikes racing dissolved?
ok chill you dont have to gulp 100g carbs per hour on a nice zone 2 ride
i sure do love those undisclosed insta360 sponsorships!
insta360 is sponsoring me for some videos, like the upcoming "how to" video is a paid sponsorship which will be clearly disclosed like FE was clearly disclosed in this video. I have seen some of the buzz surrounding insta360 though, and I was surprised because I didn't catch any of that from them.
@@NorCalCycling maybe only bigger channels get those, like corridor or mckinnon. Love the new one tho, those shots are dope and make the whole race more readable
but be careful one camera only means if it goes out battery is empty....0 footage.
Are you not on Mike’s bikes anymore?
I am
@@NorCalCycling you literally got me into crit racing. Imma veteran and was once a competitive bodybuilder and I had a cancer scare and said this will not end me and got into cycling and your videos of the local races got me to get active and push. I have not missed a single video in the last 3 years. Thanks for the awesome content!
Ummm his name is Red Shoes, not Red Shirt.
Nah it’s red kitten
And right they should. 😉
😅
Just commenting to see if you read this haha
