The Who are an English rock band formed in London in 1964. Their classic lineup consisted of lead vocalist Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century. Keith John Moon was an English musician who was the drummer for the rock band the Who. Regarded as one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock music, he was noted for his unique style of playing and his eccentric, often self-destructive behaviour. Moon moved back to London from Los Angeles in 1978, dying that September from an overdose of clomethiazole, a drug intended to treat or prevent symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. Like many famous musicians, songwriters, and artists in the 60's and 70's they abused alcohol, drugs, and smoked a lot to their demised. Some who survived today like Robert Plant. Stevie Nicks. Eric Clapton. Jimmy Page. Pete Townsend. Roger Daltry. They express their addictions in interview vividly. I met the creator of the Moog synth. When Japan killed the US market with their cheap synths, he went on to manufacture printed circuit boards for anyone who wanted them, my company wanted them. Sadly, take a look at the album cover for Who Are You, Keith is sitting on a chair that’s backwards and has stencilled on it ‘Not To Be Taken Away’. Three weeks after the release of the album, he died.😢
Pete Townshend (the guitarist) was an early pioneer of synthesisers, which he started using in 1971. Before that it wasn't a part of their sound, but after the Who's Next album which contains Won't Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley, they were used pretty heavily.
My best friend & I got to see The Who live in '96. We were juniors in high school & were introduced to their music via Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) vocalizing how this band was such a huge influence on him. That night was incredible & I'm so grateful to have had that experience. The Who set the tone for Rock worldwide in my opinion.
This is The Who’s sound in the 70’s. They were much more punk in the 60’s, before the synth, but I just love the sound they’ve developed here. Saw them in San Diego early 80’s. What a show! They rock the house! ❤ RIP Keith Moon and John Entwistle

I love the 60’s and 70’s music because it encompasses my childhood and teen years! Ah, if it’s the studio recording of them being filmed, it’s awesome, more Tomfoolery and epic musicianship! 😃
Townsend is a musical genius. He’d build soundscape loops to play within songs. The Who have two rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia. Brilliant composer
Synthesizers were brand new in the early 70s. Try Emerson Lake & Palmer, Lucky Man for the Moog.
There's a documentary about Moog. Interesting story.
I met the creator of the Moog synth. When Japan killed the US market with their cheap synths, he went on to manufacture printed circuit boards for anyone who wanted them, my company wanted them. He was located in Buffalo NY. Awesome fellow who loved the fact that I knew who he was and we spent a few hours talking about his Moog and Mini Moog synthesizer.
I recommend THE WHO'S "Can You See the Real Me?" from the Quadrophenia album.
I am sooooo ready for this!! To rewind or not to rewind…that is the question. lol!
The Seeker!🙏🙏🙏🙏
'WHO are You? 'WHO, 'WHO, - 'WHO, 'WHO? What a song🎵 the Who in 1969 released the Album Tommy my first WHO Album and l loved it, they played some of it at Woodstock 1969 but my favorite that started my WHO adventure was "My Generation" theme song of the Baby Boomers. Tommy the Movie had Eric Clapton he was the Preacher and performed "Eyesight to the Blind", you should react to Sir Elton John "Pinball Wizard" and Tina Turner "Acid Queen" "Tommy" Great movie and Album😅 Peace 😊✌️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary 💃 😉 🕺
Great Reaction 👍👍👍👍 to all 4 of todays good choices.
RIP keith moon 👀
And John Entwistle
Love this song!
Saw The Who twice in early and late 1980s. Energy and power beyond compare! ♥
"A quick one while he's away" is another great live performance where you can really see the bands personality
I concur! 😀 It has to be the live version from the _The Rolling Stones' Rock 'n Roll Circus_ movie, though!
🤩👍
Sadly, take a look at the album cover for Who Are You, Keith is sitting on a chair that’s backwards and has stencilled on it ‘Not To Be Taken Away’. Three weeks after the release of the album, he died.😢
😢
The Who has amazing songs. Incredible band! Love Reign Oer Me is goosebump inducing ❤
I'm so glad you watched this 1!! Great band, great guys & great reaction!
The Who has SO many iconic songs.. I look forward to you reacting to them all!
This song is such a great tune! ❤
The Who set the tone for Rock worldwide in my opinion.
bro.......
1978, heard this number on the radio a few times and i was HOOKED for life ‼
You need to hear their late 70’s stuff. Like ‘My Generation’.
Love, Reign o'er Me
Song by The Who
Thanks for hitting this!
This is The Who’s sound in the 70’s. They were much more punk in the 60’s, before the synth, but I just love the sound they’ve developed here.
Saw them in San Diego early 80’s. What a show! They rock the house! ❤ RIP Keith Moon and John Entwistle
I love a LOT of british bands, but my top 3 will always be: Pink Floyd, The Who and The Kinks.
Zeppelin ,Stones and Beatles too. So many great bands out of Britain
@@RockinMamaT As I wrote in a couple of comments. TO MANY, the list is too long to be able to mention every one. The Smiths, The Cure, OMD, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Talk Talk, Bronskie Beat, etc. Oh- Radiohead, Blur, etc. Oh- Yazoo, The Stranglers, etc. Oh- ... It never ends :).
I have seen them in concert several times and they are great! ❤❤❤❤
Keith Moon one of the greats🥁🤘
To say Keith was an unorthodox drummer is a total understatement. He was younger than the other three, got the gig by accident, but his contribution ❤.
Love your reactions young fella.
❤️👍🏽👍☘️
For a long time the Who held the record for the loudest concert ever
could be wrong but I heard they invented the marshal stack?
@ it sounded like it !
I Believe that. When I saw them in 1975, they broke all DB Level records for a concert in my city. Record still stands.
ICONS!! They set the standard for a lot of us. Give Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young a try. Love your reactions.😘
Yay! Rock & Roll! - getting close to 100k!!!!
I love the 60’s and 70’s music because it encompasses my childhood and teen years! I know every word to these songs because we didn’t have the distractions of computers, cell phones or internet to steal our attention. Music was such a huge part of our lives. Plus, no auto tune back then, so what you heard wasn’t “fixed” by technology. The best music era, in my opinion! It was REAL music.
“Those parts of the song” are called “interludes”
Really liking your reactions. I saw the Who three times. They made some seminal records earlier in their career. I think you would LOVE “My Generation. “ it gives a voice to the anger and frustration of the youth culture that fuelled the music in the sixties.
RINGO Starr ( Beatles) his son is the newest drummer for The Who!!
That is cool
Zac!
Good ole Keith Moon & his duct taped headphones!! RIP❤️
In the Top 5 greatest rock songs ever!
Thanks for doing this one Mollyboy! Next one to try is the first big hit from them, My Generation.
A quick one while he's away......a must see and hear
You’re doing a great job! It’s a lot of fun to watch you take this journey into the 60s and 70s. I too feel privileged to have grown up during that time.
Yes to “Behind Blue Eyes!“
Treat yourself to eminence front! It's the chef's kiss
Kieth Moon drums, Roger Daltry, vocals, John Entwhistle, bass, Peter Townsend, guitar. MASSIVE rock stars in every sense of the world.
"I can remember throw'n Punches around.."💪😎❤🤙🎶 (Yes, indeed!😉
I like watching bands in the studio as well. The one with the Rolling Stones listening to their recording of Wild Horses is pretty cool and it's on RUclips.
Brother that is not tape on Moon’s head, it is a plastic headband attached to his headphones to keep them in place… I went to school for recording engineering in the late 70’s and we had them.
I’ll post some early Who tunes on Patreon 😊
Another classic!! ❤
You really need to check out the Whos' rock opera ( Tommy ).
