  • I give a play by play of that time a semi truck, hauling huge wind turbine towers, got stuck and then had to be towed over the bump at the top of the hill.

A traffic jam was caused when an oversized semi became stuck on a hill top near where I live. The company making these towers (MARMEN) is situated not far from here (Trois-Rivière, Québec) so these semi trucks pass through here all the time. They usually use frameless trailers (The Towers themselves act as a sort of frame) and they are supported by a Schnabel trailer in the front and steerable wheeled dollies in the back. (See one at 1:19) However, on this particular day, someone decided to use lowboy trailers for some of the smaller mast pieces. These trailers have a lower ground clearance (At least that was my observation) and so got stuck on top of the little hill here. A Heavy duty tow truck was called in to winch the stranded convoy and get it unstuck.
