    I had a knife I've been working on (mostly by hand filing and sanding) that I ruined during the heat treat. got way to hot and cracked it. hours of work gone. almost broke into tears to be honest, this is the inspiration I needed to get back out there. thank you. keep up the good work!

    Thanks for what you're doing! I like it that you explain what you're doing, so many guys just have a video with no explanation and I have no idea what they are doing or why. Keep up with the great videos.

    Amen....I made a lot of different styles of blades before I settled on what I liked and what I wanted to make. For me this is enjoyment and If I'm not liking the style I'm making then it stops being fun. But that takes time to discover....not only style but materials, the look and finish.I wanted what seemed like a million You Tube videos before I ever decided I wanted to even give this a try. The info is out there...just sit back and watch it.

    Do what works for you is great advice. There are so many variables that go into knifemaking that while a person might be able to begin in it by copying what they see someone else do sometimes they will not do it well until they go in their own direction. I feel this has been the case for me. I do what works best for me based on my particular set of variables at a particular time. I think it is silly that some profess theirs is one best way. I have had people tell me that my way is cheating. What? As if there is one approved method to do it. I use the set of skills and talents and time I have.

    when I make a different kind of knife I try to break it to see where it needs improvements if the blade bends new metal new design..no tears.

    yes Google is very valuable, I've spent countless hours researching shit for smithing, there's so much to learn and do, plus just trial and error and fucking shit up is just as valuable, ur not gunna make a perfect knife the first time, or even the 5 or so after that

    Why does your blades always end up so black after heat treating? Is that scale? Anyways great video..... Thanks for the advice! :)

    • @WhiteBoneKnives
      @WhiteBoneKnives  8 лет назад +1

      +Alejandro .S Thanks for watching man! Yes! it is the scale from the heat treat that I do not grind off to give the blade a bit of contrast.

      +White Bone Knives i like the look of leaving the scale on. Looks like it came right out of the throat of the dragon ;)

    For the first three minutes of this video all i hear was this *in his voice* "Stop asking me all these &^$# questions that you can find on the internet!" lol but yea, researching for yourself will lead to more information that you might need and wouldn't have received if you had only asked one question and got one answer back.

    • @WhiteBoneKnives
      @WhiteBoneKnives  7 лет назад

      jmrenteria100 I really don't mind answering questions but sometimes people ask me 5000 questions and abuse my time. Like they don't want to put in the work to learn. Show me some ambition and I'll be glad to help!!!
