Just shows airplanes don't fly with out AMEs signing them off as airworthy. Unions are much needed in the Aviation maintenance field. The forgotten AMEs that make less then car mechanics, heavy duty mechanics and other trades. But they have the knowledge on how to keep a +100million dollar life support machine in the air, safely.
@@Genevieve111 and you can find lots of Canadian Ames that earn less then $35 and hour too. And you can find car mechanics that earn $50 an hour at the big shops.
Stranded in LAX - will never fly Westjet again. I hope it goes broke and all of them lose their jobs. Westjet used to be a decent airline - now they are just slime.
Pay workers what they are worth with inflation we are getting the equivalent of a pay cut every year true inflation is over 10% a year we will see this in all industries
the union must be taking a page from worstjets playbook - for the company to say its outraged by the union ignoring the government when worstjet's been thumbing its nose at the government and its passenger protection laws for years is a bit rich - no doubt the union has noticed the government is impotent and has done nothing to hold the airline accountable
Well then West Jet better get back to the table and negotiate a settlement. Quit blaming the Union, the Government and get back to negotiations in a meaningful way.
America can’t build their airplanes right. And now Canada can’t pay their airline employees right. What on Earth is becoming of North America’s aviation industry?
The best way to give the union what they want is to boycott the company and drive it into bankruptcy, hurt it like the union is trying to do but just take it one step further and bounce that check.
Canada loves Monopolies. This includes airlines. If an airline in Canada goes on strike like it happened here, the choices are very limited due to this Monopoly.
So... your solution to workers trying to get a fair contract is to undermine them with foreign competition? Do you feel the same way about teachers? Autoworkers? How about nurses?....or is it only app[applicable with airlines?

Westjet AME's earn an average of 110K per year (53$ per hour)... the average automobile mechanic earns 68K per year (35$ per hour).

One way to fix WestJet boycott if they don't have frequent flyers, they can't stay in business

I say fire them all and hire mechanics looking for work.

So will they book me another flight or not. I can't pay for another airline, their too expensive.

I would suggest they take very many "steps"...as there are no flights...
Roger has really gone grey !! Wow
What amazing insight Look for another airline No kidding
Boycott now and for ever 🤬
Step one. Fly Air Canada or other.
We need foreign airline competition badly just like in the communications industry ( cell internet etc)

Aucune sympathie pour cette compagnie anti-francophone. Jamais je ne volerai sur westjet. Elle peut crever, ça me réjouirait! F Y WestJet!
Look up the closest striker to your home and pay them a visit. Perhaps donate some of your garbage onto their front lawn.
How about your closest westjet executive instead? Since they're too greedy to pay their mechanics properly.
