One addition to the Super 2, if you hold forward while doing the move you will jackhammer without side switching, so it is still an option if you aren't sure you can land the follow-up from the hold-punch variant. And for SPD you can do the motion clockwise or counter-clockwise using the shortcut too, which can affect some things like if you are blocking at start (hold back) or going forward before doing the actual motion.

See this is why I say to mention things in the comments..really good addition also for the wrestling fans the animation jack hammer to do the same side is a throwback to same jackhammer Goldberg gave to Christan back in the day!
BIG EDIT .. the are actually three different jackhammers..the initial one with the taunt.. the forward one tomppa mentioned...AND a n away one which looks similar to the one Goldberg deliveres to heavyweights.. both the forward and the away versions deal 100 less damage but clearly have their uses

@@TeknoOdin I do more jackhammers than SPDs in the matches with all my messed up inputs but still #worthit

This was an awesome video; laying out what tic throws are, how they work, and why Gief's good normals are the ones that you can tic throw off was super helpful

Great simple guide. I know I’m late to the party, but this video needs a follow up!

Great review of zangief. I decided to pick him up with introduction of manual mode and got to platinum in my placements. Thanks for covering the 5 different normal throws and their advantages.

Highly underrated guide, so glad RUclips recommended it to me.
I also found that if using keyboard or a mixbox (wasd config) the 360 input can be done via 63214 and then hit 8 and punch at the same time. Makes it easier than going for the diagonals on the up.

Useful stuff mate. Been a Ken main for every SF, but for some reason when I was looking at trying ranked I just said "Screw it" and picked Gief. Little did I know how much SPD that 'screw' would entail. Even got a perfect round and beat a Diamond rank JP. Would love to see some match-up tutorials for Gief if you feel like making more content on him. Good hunting!

Well once I've got a good grasp on the roster themselves and understand what makes them tick , I can look into some matchup stuff!

Drive rush a knee strike into to the spd instead of just rushing to the spd

how do you get around Ken doing repeated OD uppercut, or ryu and other OD capable characters, i find it annoying, espeiciallly OP KEN! hes so cheap

Depends on the context ..if they're ODing on wake-up hold off your attacks and just block/parry..say if your rushing in you can just not a track and hold the away button and then parry and you'll get rush back and just get a spd off ...really you're always expecting the od if they have the meter to use it 😁
