We use Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, English and Tamil (with many other dialects/languages also), so in mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia, we use "la/lah". However, since we have been mixing together as one country, we started "importing" the words from the other languages and mixing them up in the English language which is known as "Manglish" (malaysia + english = manglish) The la/lah slang is meant to accentuate or emphasize on the tone of a sentence. I can't express the tones audibly here (obviously) but one example might be "Can you please go away" (Proper english request) but if i want to let you know i'm more annoyed than just making that request, i might say "Go away lah". There are many other variations to it of these slangs like "meh, ma, loh, leh....." it will take time for someone to fully understand these slangs, watch more of dmingthing videos and you might eventually catch on one day! :)
