And way younger. I don’t know how kirk’s agent got the falcons to pay him 180 million over 4 years, and he is definitely not good enough for that contract.
@@FormalCarrot1... His agent should be in the NFL Hall of Fame for Best Agent of the Decade💰💰💰💰💰💰 We paid Kirko 125mil in 6 seasons... Atlanta got fleeced
@@brett6314I like Kirk but it is time to move on. As a Viking fan, I do realize our team is not capable of winning the division or even competing within the division if we have a $45 million hit for one player.
Sam Darnold is going to be the Cinderella story of 2024. I have a feeling this is going to be a breakout year for him. We may have our franchise QB and just don’t know it yet.
I kinda think so too, this is his best supporting cast and the best coaching staff he's ever had. It could be another Sam Bradford story, except he stays healthy
Sam is gonna surprise a lot of people. I’m not saying he’s gonna lead us to a Super Bowl or anything, but most people view darnold as a flat out bust when he never really had a supporting cast and also had some of the worst coaches. He will keep the Vikings competitive and will earn himself some money next off season
Excellent video. You did a really good work. Love what the Vikings did breaking out of Cousins’ contract prison. If Bradford learned to run that offense in San Francisco then things will go well for the Vikings. Shanahan taught Cousins in Washington DC. Hope he taught Darnold well.
Darnold went 9-8 with the Panthers in his 2 seasons there. That’s a better record than the Vikings the last 3 out of 4 years. You’d think he’d win at least 10 games here

Same here. 66 years old and still waiting for that 1st SB win. That ‘69 team still my favorite led by Joe Kapp and the Purple People Eaters. Let’s go get one!
An excellent take on Sam Darnold. Kyle Shanahan loved Darnold, but couldn't, rightfully, let him compete with Purdy for QB1 after the latter's surprising rookie success. I hope that the Vikings use pick 11 to build around Darnold.
Kirk and Dak are numbers 3 & 4 when it comes to QB rating over the last 5 years but what has either done in the playoffs? Would you really want one of them over Herbert, Burrow, Allen?
Yeah.....Josh Dobbs was also "in the perfect situation" last year. QB friendly coach (unless you're a running QB), good offense. Granted he was just tossed into the fire. But did you notice the more KOC tried forcing him into the Cousins type of role....the worse he got.
@@randylewis8628 KOC in incapable or unwilling to coach to the talent he has. So it's going to show us if he's able to develop a QB when he gets HIS GUY. I give him 2 seasons after this draft.

Darnold is turning 27 in june! Still very capable! The jets and the panthers!? Ha, let him cook with a organization with some consistency like the vikings. Also, darnold was mostly a linebacker in high school. He's relatively new to the qb position.
@@trevonpernell0814As a fellow jets fan firmly agree with you when Sam was our QB you knew there was a chance we could lose, but when Zach was our QB you didn’t even know if we were gonna score a touchdown😭

You said it well, guy has had a raw deal. Jets and then panthers? Terrible o-lines on both. 9ers felt they had lightning in a bottle with Purdy, so Sam didn’t even get a chance. Maybe…. Juuuust maybe….. he can be Shane Falco for us.
And as much as I like Sam, I don't even think his ceiling is Kirk Cousins. Kirk was able to elevate some pretty bad Redskins teams back in the day and made the Vikings a lot better than otherwise would have been especially when he first got there. Sam, at his best at this point projects to a top 20 maybe top15 guy imo. He dosn't have the natural feel for the game/moxy attributes to be much more.
Sam is one of those QBs that has never had a chance to play on a good team. He has never had weapons or an offensive line that gave him any time. There are few QBs that could have succeeded in those situations. Time will tell how well he does with the Vikings.
Why does everyone think Sam Darnold is our QB of the future? Yes he is decent and has potential, but we have pick 11 in the draft and could easily move up. Darnold is a better backup for the Vikings.
We can't get one of the top 3 QBs. Chicago will never trade with us at any realistic price, Washington needs a QB, Patriots really need a QB. We get to pick through second tier QBs. Are any of them franchise or are they coach killers?
🤔 But Donald, Kenny Pickett, Mac Jones, Trey Lance and Daniel Jones aren't meant to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. These teams and coaches keep on trying to make them starters and they're not. Facts Dude, Sam Donald isn't shocking anything but a car battery. Lol
I like Sam, I think this is the best they could have done after the fact, but lets be honest, this was one real dumbass move to just let Kirk walk out the door for nothing. Your talking about at least a top 12 QB in football with stretches of elite play and you let him go, for what so you sign Sam Darnold who hasn't proven anything and take a flier on a rookie. Around 70% of even first round rookie QB's don't end up being long-term starters much less elite, and you just let a guy who is on the fringe of that just walk for a few extra million?
They couldn’t have traded him though unless he wanted to be traded. The Vikings were in a tough spot and still are. They could not have paid Kirk that much money coming off a huge injury and Sam is a solid bridge but eventually they would have to draft a QB sooner or later.
Your right in the fact he had a no trade clause but imo should have kept him no brainer. Clearly the Falcons thought highly of him and they are in even better draft position to take a guy. Achillies injury is not the end of the world nowadays remember Kobe came back from an Achillies and played well at age 37, almost 10 years ago + he's a basketball player. Kirk for another $100m guaranteed to the $28m they just had to eat, and 4 years, no thanks. Apart from Tom is there another QB that has even looked OK at 38? Ryan imploded at 36. Rivers and Big Ben both declined markedly after 36, and the Packers look better with Jordan Love than they have in the past 2 seasons with 40 year old Rodgers. 50% of 1st round QBs play at least 60 games at a decent level, but only 5% of QBs drafted after the 1st do, so there is still a 10 x better chance working with a 1st rounder than taking pot shots on late round guys.
