This detail was honestly so funny

- I loved a lot of the details in the Mandalorian Season 3 - one of my favorites has got to be the treatment of the Mon Calamari on Coruscant. We'll talk all that and more in today's Star Wars The Mandalorian lore video!
The disciplinary officer's deadpan double take when Pershing says it was a trap. I love it so much.
I 100% got a, "Can you believe this motherfucker?" vibe.
"It was a trap!" Funny as hell. 😂
I paused it, and burst out laughing! My wife didn’t understand what was so funny!
I don’t think the Mon Cala in the Opera House cared about Pershing shading the outer rim because that jagoff is a Coruscanti elite
I found it fascinating that Bo Katan did not take off her helmet once since her dip in the pool. Throughout the show, she usually takes her helmet off after barely wearing it for 3 seconds!
I wonder if seeing the mythosaur changed her somewhat
That means Kate Sackhoff will voice Bo-Katan while her stunt double takes her place with the helmet on.
She just wants to fit in
She probably took it off, because no one was in the ship with her and they only care if someone sees your face.
That's something I noticed as well. The little trip seem to have changed her
The taxi droid has the face of Ralph McQuarrie's C-3PO concept drawings.
You know what's consistent about any of the shows? Regardless of how we feel about them, whenever the writers go right back to the OG concept art, it always ends up playing well in both construction & narrative. People like McQuarrie knew what they were doing & how art could build myth. It works.
That it was a trap gag was so brilliant it was both a joke and a throwback reference without feeling forced, and that shows you how well crafted was the writing on EP 3
It's not that the nobleman can't tell the difference between the Empire and the new Republic it's that he doesn't care enough to know.
Spot on. He's not going to care as long as he isn't personally affected
I liked the reference to the holographic zoo, which if I recall made its Debut in the Jedi academy book series. When Chewbacca and Threepio lost Jacen and Jaina while visiting there.
Your PFP threw me for a second.
@Yang Song I always thought it was an odd inclusion in that book, felt kinda out of place, disconnected from the larger story. But I do remember loving the part when hobo king ( or whatever his name was) returned the kids to Han and Leia, and Chewie and Threepio were so relieved until they saw the looks Han and Leia were giving them.
Mon Calamari easily being tricked and trapped is an offensive stereotype I am here for.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t even notice the “It was a trap,” reference when I was watching the episode. I was so entranced by the horror of the scene that it went right over my head. That attitude of ‘yes we’re brainwashing him but it’s alright because it’s for his own good to make him more like us’ is exactly the thought process that allowed the tyrannies of the 20th century to thrive. Those New Republic officers genuinely thought that stripping a man of his free will because he was out after curfew was a good deed and the right thing to do. Sends shiver down the spine.
Well, not just out after curfew, but also sneaking around an impounded Star Destroyer searching for lab equipment to continue his experiments: The exact thing that got him in trouble in the first place.
I love how that mon calamarian is voiced by Soos's VA
Alex herish really wow
I can imagin it now
Darth stan
“It was a trap”
👁👄👁
I really enjoyed the detail of the opera house scene and how it shows that the wealthy elite in Star Wars, just like in our own time, are basically amoral and only care about "progress", and they don't particularly care who is the one in charge of cracking the eggs to make their omelets. It's a cynical (but realistic) detail that ties the "Mandalorian" to some of what we see in "Andor".
the reference to *Its a trap!* was epic if you think about it
they literally managed to fit a meme and easter egg into film dialogue and tailored it well to be a fitting comment
I kept expecting this whole thing to be a simulation in his mind.
Mon Calamari are so freaking weird! Their funny, but weird. Especially the bad machanic from the New England planet from the Mandalorian.
“New England planet” LMFAOOOO
Question for the main video: what would be a list of other gunship/light freighters to replace the Razor rest instead of the N1? The question has come up several times in the Star Wars subreddit the last few days, and I thought it was something up your alley. I like the N1, just so far in season 3 it's been more of a hindrance than a blessing. I can't imagine sleeping g in the cockpit long term is going to be great for Mando.
A hindrance? Have you been watching the same show? Lol. The dude must have escaped two life threatening situations by speeding away or jumping to hyperspace, and kicked asses on multiple occasions versus pirates, tie advanced, and that giant alligator creature
Man everyone is hating on the N1
@@wasdwazd In space combat dogfight it's like trading a Mirage 2000 for a Huey ( Bell UH-1 Iroquois )...
A space transport is a civilian transport ...
Gunships are more air to ground than air to air .
For a lone adventurer with a pocket sidekick it is a a good choice , with the heavy list of ennemies who he will make.
The Milenium Falcon is more like a pocket dreadnought with an insane armor and shield , a two quad laser turret and concussion missile tubes.
In the Return of Jedi it was taken for what it was a warship.
Mando just needs to hook up a space trailer to the rear of that N1
I doubt Admiral Ackbar is widely known in-universe for his "It's a trap!" remark.
I really liked how they put Glup Shiddo in the background after the TedTalk.
I really liked this episode, it felt like we were getting some genuinely new Star Wars content (instead of filling out a period we already know about). I do agree that the pacing droops a little in the middle, if it were me I would have moved the scene with Din and Bo at the end to the middle, before the train sequence, just to break up the story a little bit and stop it feeling like the whole episode is one massive tangent. But that's really the only criticism I have of this episode.
The best part of this scene, is that aristocrat that almost got drafted and the concept that through republics, empires, and first order there is a class of landed aristocracy that have the luxury of not caring. Episode 8 introduced this concept poorly with the casino planet but its a very cool concept....almost too real...hope we get to see this concept a bit more.
I gotta admit I was a bit bummed that the Mon Cal officer didn't reply with "No, this is not a trap!"
I guess the Emperor just let the rich people go about their normal business.
Pretty much the consistent way of tyranny through all human history. Wealth = power/voice. Upset that voice and it speaks out against you. Leave it alone, and its very easy to see why the rich 'don't know who's in charge'. They don't need to know because it doesn't effect them one iota. The luxury of ignorance.
I liked this scene to and I think the episode did a good job in describing the socio-economic aspect of the Star Wars Galaxy. Also besides Mon Cala being in the outerrim. Muunulist which probably backed the New Republic credit was also located in the outerrim and is a very wealthy planet.
I mean, that Coruscanti guy is one hundred percent right. The Outer Rim IS a shithole. Dude was just keeping it 100.
You must understand: the parties were flipped back then lol
Charle has insider knowledge, you just know lore.
Ok and?
@@LuchtLeiderNederland Knowing how a movie would end is different than knowing lore. Lore can be more interesting.
I felt if they are going to stick with the timeline of events it’s no wonder the new republic ends up falling to the new order within a year of its creation. The Empire under Palpatine lasted a little over 20 years and in legends it would last in one form or another for over 157 years to the old republic’s 25,034 years. My guess is even in that short amount of time I felt like the New Republic didn’t have a road map ready on how it was going to run the day to day operations and a lot of the administration just seemed to carry on as normal as it was done in the empires days and just slap a fresh coat of paint on it. Had the new republic lasted longer I believe it would of back tracked on some of the imperial ways of doing things but honestly i don’t think it would completely get rid of them. Which is scary to think about but as the old saying goes if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
I have worked with members of the aristocracy,in the past, and a lot of them really are this insensitive.
I think it's fascinating about how we respond to all the different species presented. Long, long ago and a galaxy far away, right? So patently no humans whatsoever. Call it convergent evolution if you will. So where's the homeworld? That's what I'd like to see.
I don’t know if “it’s a trap” is an in universe joke…? That’s just a wink to the viewers right?
When he said "It was a trap."
I figured the Mon Calamari would snap back something like, "Was that a racist joke? Do I need to set you up with sensitivity and diversity training, too?"
ITS A TRAP!!!!!!
I enjoyed the small section of the episode that contained the star of his own show but did not enjoy the filler. Some of the Easter Eggs were indeed interesting, others amusing, but overall the episode felt flat and drawn out to me. This had a Book of Boba Fett feel to it where the Mandalorian was playing second fiddle to a tertiary character. I would have enjoyed more Bo Katan or Mandalore. I understand they're setting up for something later but I'm just not interested. I watch The Mandalorian for the Mandalorian.
Oh, I really don't think the Mon Cal was offended. They're have some of the most civilized and crime-free worlds in the Outer Rim. He would be more understanding than most Core Worlders and less offended than most Rimmers.
It’s a trap!
I've got a question. Can the mandalorians be aliens? Or all of them are humans?
Grogu is a mandalorian foundling, so you have your answers.
@@mtsen771 yes, but i meant previously (for example in clone wars or rebels, i can't rebember if there were aliens in Mandalore)
I assume so. It's a culture, not a race. It's probably just laziness that you don't see truly wierd aliens as Mando's. And there could have been tons of Near-Humans and you wouldn't know.
How do you know they are all humans, we dont see most of their faces! :)
@@whocares435-z9v actually at one point mandalorians were a species of war like guy's and girls and then some weirdo was taken became the first foundling and then the mandolorians went extinct cannot remember if it were themselves or an outside force any way a bunch of humans who went kpop stan over the mandalorian culture took it upon themselves to simultaneously uphold and somewhat warp the mandalorian culture into what it is today oh and they've (recorded) lost between 2-3 mandalore homeworlds as of the current standard mandalorian.
I rewatched Rouge one today and idk how I forgot this , but Andor was in it , same with loads of other characters and things that tie into games and shows now!
Rogue. 😜
I'll tell Charlie you're videos are just as good as his, this ain't no podrace
Wasn't that the guy who tried to add Data to his collection?
@Yang Song thanks! I'll check that out! The purple costume in Mando is pretty much identical to Rubinek's in TNG
About the last comment maybe as that is the most people being in their species but then again it could taken as pride... Like if someone mentioned a George Washinton quote... Still it most hurt hearing you fellow corsanty talk like that regardless if your family is new residents or not... Kinda like IRL mentioning "Your English is good" to an American. Edit: Read some comments as I did not see the show yet... I will on Blue-ray one day but yeah I don't think the cloner meant anything by it other then he was set up... Like no one should be that offendable.
I only watch your videos. When I hear that accent I close the window
Who's Charlie?
This whole B plot was was a really weird tangent. Is this suppose to be a back door pilot for another spin off? Is this going to tie back to the main Mando story arc some how?
It was a so abrupt and random.
So that bish is gonna be responsible for the First Order because according to Disney of course *she* is
Tch, at least I don't want to orbitally purge Mon Calamari/Mon Cala/Dac... gods, that planet just had to have numerous names.
Edit: Also, time will tell if your vids are better than EcksToo's or Corey's, oh silly Eck.
I really didn't like that pershing guy...
Charlie, his videos are better.
The "It was a trap!" bit was admittedly funny but tonally wrong and detrimental to the scene it accompanied. We're supposed to take this dark scene seriously but it's MCU levels of totally deflating the dramatic tension with poorly placed/timed humor and nonsensical character choices (sure, let's have the medlab technician just walk away while Kane can fiddle with the mind flayer controls... makes absolutely no sense in the context of those circumstances).
Also, who let's people just bring food and eat during a medical procedure, come on now.
Pretty craptastic writing this episode.
Thanks for pointing that out. I was gettinga bit fed-up of hearing how funny that line was.
Because god forbid somebody be in a trap
The line made sense. A lot of people watching the show didn’t get the joke because they aren’t into Star Wars so much. It was honestly fine, not a big deal.
This is one of those rare situations where your opinion is factually wrong
@@chewy99. The line was _obviously_ meant to be an in-joke. And therefore, totally inappropriate and unnecessary. It makes no difference at all how many people "got it".
Feel like it's a bit of a stretch to always assume the line is an intentional reference. It's not like the phrase is unique to Star Wars.
Hey, Charlie. My videos are better!
the ruling class can‘t tell the difference as if
Look, I didn't hate the last episode, but fuck if it didn't feel like Auralnauts Star Wars. I really expected a Dirk Lasermaster performance when Dr. Pershing and his Tomboy GF were in Monument Plaza.
Auralnauts is peak starwars.
That Mon Cala worker at the end 100% sounded like Auralnauts' Admiral Ackbar.
star wars sucks
Then why you here then?
