Most professionals coach/teach lessons often. I’ve seen some grandmasters charge 100 dollars or more per hour for lessons, whereas some only charge like 20 or something. But then I’ve seen some NM charge 40 dollars per hour too, kinda depends on their country though. But a lot of strong players seem to make a living teaching or streaming. Or at least supplements what else they are doing to make money. If you aren’t in the top 100-1000 in the world, then you just need a lot of students or to stream consistently. It’s not too hard getting students thanks to the internet nowadays. For me I’m close to NM and I’ve coached a bit before but I plan to get more students or people that want to play training games against me after I get the title. Being a titled player stands out. Although I’ve purchased training games from a streamer I like cuz they are strong although not a titled player yet (around 2150 uscf) they only charge me 15 dollars for two long rapid games that usually take between 1-2 hours. But generally they charge 40 dollars an hour for lessons too.
