hi Vince, just came across your video and it brought back many memories. As kids in the early 50s we would ride our bikes to Dobbs weir to swim in the lagoon at the base of the weir. Also, we would camp in a big field at the back of the pub at Broxbourne and spend many hour canoeing and swimming in the river. Also Waltham Town lock, the lock keeper worked at Limehouse but i married one of his daughters at the Abbey church. Also worked at the Dunlops tennis racquet factory which was at the end of Lea Road and directly opposite the river. I would ride my bike along the towpath from Enfield lock to the Abbeys to work and to go courting.

Cannot see the point in going to the Big Smoke....when there is so much to see that is peaceful and quiet.....
The Rivers Stort & Lea are cut off from the rest of the country by London! So in order to see all them lovely areas in England I have to go through London!
Been looking forward to the next part since you started talking about it (what seems like) a long time ago.
I started talking about it from more or less day one Mike!
Are they supposed to leave the gates open on that river?
Yes Les!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle not according to the boaters handbook.
@@ifax1245 Can you tell me the page and paragraph please, as I'd like to see that! Because different Rivers have different ways of doing things!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle page 27. "Moor up at the landing stage
and check that all doors, gates
and paddles are closed."
@@ifax1245 I had a look and you are correct Nigel! Looked on the net and saw different rules for some Rivers. When I'm on the Canals I shut the the gates anyway! Will keep the peace in the future and close the gates everywhere unless told otherwise!
You left the paddle up at bridge 34 just saying
I noticed that when I looked at the film! Luckily no one died!
