Another great video dad! Bet that was very interesting to see the bridge where the robbery happened... I haven’t been glamping before, but wouldn't mind giving it a go! Looking forward to seeing you the weekend for your birthday! Keep the videos coming and stop showing everyone your arse 🤣 xxx
I love this type of vlog. I told my son about Buster but he thought it was fiction! So, thank you for posting this..I can’t wait to see his face when he watches it 😁 Take care mate 🙂
Thanks Vanessa! I think it's best not to get carried away when making these vlogs, and try to be yourself! That's why I really enjoy watching your channel.
Thank you for another great Vlog. Thank you also for the History bit on the end. I remember it very well. Buster was released in 1988. There was a London premiere, but for obvious reasons, it was not a Royal premiere. There was also another film made about the great train robbery in 1967. It was called "Robbery". That village looked very cute. Take care.
Never even heard of 'glamping' - till now. Boy! I must have led a sheltered life!! Another great video Vince, and interestingly informative, good for you and well done.
Another great vlog from one of lifes adventurers. some great winter weather and lovely scenary. Take care Vince and looking forward to more of the country side that we don`t see from inside a car.
Brilliant video Vince, I think they were made an example of lol, once again a very entertaining informative video, Up the Ammers and all the best mate, Terry.
Happy new year, great to see you back. Lovely bit of countryside too. The stack of tyres is in fact a silage clamp. Silage is fermented grass, not as dry as hay, but still used for animal feed. It is covered with a sheet and the tyres are used to hold the sheet down. The clamp is gradually uncovered according to how much feed is required. We have a "Slapton" down here in Devon. All the best.
Glamping here in the US is having a huge camping trailer with 2 to 3 slide outs. My sister's is 45 feet long with 3 slide outs it has a faux fireplace, leather furniture, a master bedroom, and bathroom including a bathtub. I spent most my life tent camping until 10 years ago when I bought a pop-up camper. It's nice to not have 4 inches of water in your tent while floating on air mattresses inside the tent. That happened in Maine, Bar Harbor, Arcadia National Park. Our National Campgrounds are somewhat rustic providing just toilets no showers or electric hook-ups. State campgrounds provide toilets, showers, and electric some even have cabin rentals. Private campgrounds provide everything plus entertainment centers but can be quite pricey at $100+.per night. I prefer the rustic and somewhat remote National Campgrounds at $23 a night. It's all in what comfort level you want. I really enjoy your channel, keep up the vlogging!
Thank you Barbara, for giving us all an insight into what Glamping is in the US! A very informative comment, and is much appreciated. All the best Vince!
Thank you. Another great video. The scenery was terrific and the narration was excellent. I really enjoy seeing some parts of the small canal side villages as well. I remember that train robbery and the stories about Ronald Biggs and his (mis) adventures in Australia and Brazil. I have to admit that part of me was secretly rooting for Biggs and hoping he wouldn't get caught!
Thanks Gar S. It was nice to see where all that happened. And It is nice to have a look around the different places that I moor Aitch up, I should show a bit more of that I think!
Lovely vid Vince , gorgeous colours of the tress, the light was superb and you captured it well . You and I were nippers at the time of the great train robbery ,as it was called, they got 30 years because they all but killed the train driver, Jack Mills , who never worked again.
You are half right Glen, the rest was to do with the crazy politics at the time. Here is a famous quote from one member of the 'establishment' to another; What! thirty years - for robbery? Terrorists don't get that.
Fabulous vlog, as always, Vince! That bridge brings back memories! I lived in Tring in the 1970s and learnt to drive all around there. I remember my instructor telling me about the bridge as I drove - very carefully, in his dark green metallic Vauxhall Viva - underneath it. Thanks for that little trip down memory lane!
That was a great vlog Vince and lots of information. The great train robbery always fascinated me so that was a brilliant piece at the end. Good to see you cruising and the weather looked great too. Take care and see you next time bud.
Thanks for another great video Vince. I think you're an incredibly fortunate man to be following a dream like you are are. The sharing of your experience is made all the more richer by your reflections on the experience of your cruising, the people you meet, and even the misfortunes that all boaters experience. It speaks well for your outlook on life. May you have a long cruising life! (If I get unexpectedly fortunate, maybe I will have the chance to come to the UK and charter a boat for a couple of months to absorb what looks like a terrific experience...:). Be well and stay healthy!
Thanks John for the nice comment! This life does have its ups and downs, more ups luckily! Hope you get lucky and have a go at this! See you next time!
Hi Vince, Nothing wrong in being a little bit common 😉 that made me laugh. Sorry I haven't shared you videos lately. I'm going to rectify that now. Keep boating, keep happy. Love Babs
That's how it is being brought up in Plaistow, and proud of it haha! Don't worry about things like that. Keep well, and look after yourself love Vince xxx
Hello Vince. Interesting bit of info about the great train robbers. Mooring single handed etc. When I did my helmsmans course many years ago,(because I kept on getting off to pull the boat in) the lady running the course kept telling me that the helmsman should never leave the boat to moor, it was the job of the crew!!!! I kept thinking what if you don't have any crew? That is the difference I suppose between an ideal world of manuals and training and the lived one. Keep well.
I suppose it's a bit like passing you're driving test. No one drives like that after they pass! I couldn't do without a centre line, most important bit of kit when you're single handing! See you next time Kevin!
Hi Vince. Another great vlog. Really interesting and what a beautiful day for cruising. Good history comments too with the The Great Train Robbery episode. A few got away but were caught in the end - shame. Hope you get your driving license sorted. Been having a few problems with my computer and mobile and missed your vlog but hopefully my problems ll sorted. As for the builders bum, I have changed a few of your nappies so wasn`t too shocked. Haha!! Catch up with you soon. Love Mum xx
Thanks mum! You ain't changed my nappy for a while, I can do it myself nowadays haha! That's a bit of a pain, glad you got it sorted. See you soon love Vince x
Trick is Vince, if you get H stick on the mud when pulling up for a brew, just leave him there on the mud, make your tea & wotnot then deal with the situation, you never know, with you moving about onboard your boat might even rock free of his own accord, at very worse it becomes a future Vince problem but at least you’ll be refreshed. The mountain of used tyres is actually silage, this is how grass is stored for winter feed. They cut the grass, collect it all up in trailers, make a big pile & squash out all of the air then cover it with black plastic sheets, the tyres are holding the sheet down.
Thanks for the good comment! City boys like me have a lot to learn about the country side and it's ways. I thought it was strange to have a pile of tyres on a farm!
A great little cruise while having a coffee, thanks Vince. Good to see cow's in the fields and not on the towpath 😅. Stay safe and happy cruising until the next time. Kath
As a youth, I used to think the south Midlands was boring. I spent more than a few years working in that part of the country, while living in Ilford, on the Essex/London boundary and really got to appreciate some of the country side once you get off the M1. Lots of trees and slight hills, make it attractive.
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle Yes indeed. Again, when I was young (in my teens, I am 66 now), I spent several months on the Norfolk Broads on a broads cruiser. Old fashioned wooden boat. There are so many sights and memories of places people NEVER see. Good times. Enjoy.
Vince, How are you doing mate, now a bit of knowledge for you. The tyres are be used to keep the silage heap covers from blowing away, so in fact their being recycled. the silage is grass mixed with molasses and fed to cattle over the winter months as they cant graze the fields. one the grass doesn't grow fast enough to keep em fed and two the hooves would cut up the field too much. Must tell you a little story. At the time of the Great Train Robbery a mate and I did contract delivery work for a dental supplies company, the last job each day was to deliver parcels in mail bags to the local post office. This day I had another appointment as as there was only one bag of mail I used my Ford Zephier, dropped the bag off at the PO, they gave me 6 empty bags that I bunged in the boot. Went to my appointment and then up west for a meal, while putting some stuff in the boot after the meal a copper walked by and noticed the mail bags. All of a sudden we were surrounded by cop cars, it wasn't until I remembered the PO receipt for the earlier post drop, that got us off the hook. All the time the police were looking for the robbers I never used the car to drop off mail, once bitten twice shy. The alter your angle and maybe stop you from grounding, store your coal on the other side. Safe sailing and lots of info thanks.
Thanks for all the advice, and putting me straight on a few things! I was only a baby when that robbery happened, and I'm nearly sixty! So I reckon you must be getting on in years, so look after yourself, and hope to see you next time, Vince!
Hello Vince, how ya doing? Down at my father in laws in Devon, village a mile away by the sea is called Slapton, I walk down there to get my ice creams! Don't know if its a common name.
When you ground and get off to push the boat off, throw the center line onto the shore and you can always run back and pick it up to pull her back in if needed.
