I know it's a weird thing to say, but the 'world' of these adverts, the era, is the earliest world I remember and one I feel sort of safe and comfortable in because of it. I understand it. Which is ridiculous, because it was just as confusing and fractious to the adults of the time as the modern world can be to us now, I'm sure. And in 30 years time the young children of today will look back on compilations of RUclips adverts from now with a warm glow of nostalgia, of a safe and secure world which they understood.
I know, I feel the same. Feel like a bit of a saddo watching this, but, the nostalgia is comforting. I'm sure the adults at the time / our parents would also hark back to the prevailing culture of their childhoods. Yet, I do miss those simpler times: 4 TV channels with no choice other than what was on at the time - because you really appreciated the good stuff when it was on, and, the nation watched at the same time and had shared experiences e.g. BBC1 7.30 Top of the Pops. I do think the internet has changed things and made the world a very different place from when we were kids / teens in the 80s compared to now. And although without it we wouldn't be watching this on RUclips and commenting (as well as not having all the other things the internet provides), sometimes I wonder whether our lives, and those of our children, would be simpler, safer and more straightforward without it.
I used to have an Atari ST. It was the nuts back in the day! I love the way old computer ads had to have a futuristic robotic sounding voice over......you know.....because its technology and stuff
Simon Fraser .but comparing Peugeot to some other cars like German .British. Italian or American. Peugeot is a crap . Sorry buddy I have driven almost all kinds of cars as my job is a driver at big oil companies. I have been on that job for 35 years. So Peugeot is a crap . Forgot to mention the fantastic Swedish Volvo which I mostly did drive .
there was some one try that trick of driving their new car through a flaming field unfortunetly the car was toast and for the drive he got 4 years in prison for setting fire to a field and dangerous driving
This is when ads where watchable, not like the shite you see now on TV
+Chris Obrien I agree

Too many ads about life insurance, FGS should be limited to maximum 5 minutes per hour.
You wouldn't say that about the Flash adverts!
My all-time favourite advert from 1989 is the BP Supergreen and I`m completely hooked so much and I do missed my favourite adverts from 1989.

@@desertrose1226 Man, I agree, the new ones are pretty nice now. I like the look of the E208 especially.
That water privatisation ad reminds me too much of the "AIDS: Don't Die of Ignorance" PIF.
Great to see that classic Atari ST advert in there. I've got the 520STE.
