Personally this would be a great way to get over blog burnout. I still find it difficult consistently writing long form content, so this could help flesh out all those ideas in a much easier-to-create format. Very nice! Definitely going to be playing around with this. Thank you! Had no idea this existed!

What is your ‘why’ for blogging and does it need to lead you to burn out and take you away from your passion ? There are always alternatives or just content creation schedule change - from daily to weekly from weekly to fortnight etc and other alternatives to give value other then blogging.

So here is the future, Google may put a separate section for Web Stories on their search pages and just like we can see google images, we can see google stories, besides images or news link.

Three very quick questions for you guys:
    1. Am I right in assuming that Google can read the text on these story slides?
    2. How will this work with a keyterm, does it come from the text or perhaps the URL?
    3. I noticed you don't have the stories in your site menu. Do they need to be or will Google find them anyway?
Thanks in advance & keep up the great work.

This is just like creating a Lumen5 video except there's no audio and you have to provide the images. Otherwise, it looks the same. Of course, because it's Google Stories and they index it then that may end up working to bring in more traffic than a Lumen5 video.

These small “snackable“ stories are exactly what’s wrong with the Web these days. Gives just enough information to for people to think they know what they’re talking about creating a world of people who think they’re experts. We need to get away from mini narratives and have a long form discussions.

@@ahoosieratheart I agree. Many things really worth having/doing need more investment from people than these tweet size bites of faux. But as Claire Cumberland indicates, it is what most people (think they) want so it is hard to get the engagement time for more textured material. I think the only way is to wait for people who do want something more special than the Hipster triviality game. To do that you probably have to make it very clear from the beginning that you are not that thing, as in you can't half-half it or neither type of mindset will want you.

I haven't tried embedding it on a page build with Elementor. But normally I'd either make these stories and leave them as stand-alone pages (not embedded), in which case Elementor won't have anything to do with it. Or, I'd embed them in a blog post. And I never use pagebuilders for writing blog posts. We reserve pagebuilders for special pages, like the homepage, sales pages, gear pages, about me pages, etc. So if you follow that guidance, then once again, Elementor won't have any impact on your use of stories.

I was looking for the word shortcode to embed on an Elementor page - since they only mentioned the Gutenberg editor. So i think, I will just have to redesign my single post template optimized with the additional stories(maybe on the top part), then do the posts in Gutenberg where we can embed the stories.

IMHO it’s worth knowing that this exists, and it may be helpful to creators for a few use cases, but the result is no huge paradigm shift for consumers, so they will not be driving the thrust to expand it. You may get a few SERP points from Google for using it, but that’s all. 🙂

Actually, you can’t use the plugin. I’ve been at it for a while now and it doesn’t work. When you submit the URL to Google, Google says there’s an “Error in required structured data element” in the code that the Google plugin created. Go figure. Even if you use one of the pre-designed templates.
Have you tried to submit a page to Google? Perhaps I’m missing something. I LOVE making the articles in the plugin, but it pretty much stops after that.

I'm building a site which I couldn't really build effectively with WordPress, so I had to code it from scratch... But I would like to use stories... do you think having a separate subdomain (ex stories.mydomain.com) would be a usable idea... So I could have the stories on the subdomain and point to the actual site where the meat of the content is, or is this a bad idea? Have google release any developer tools or format requirements for Google Stories so I can do it without their plugin?
