The real world driving range figures are now available from multiple owners in China. Random sample of six users show the BYD Qin L actually obtained 2547, 2497, 2410, 2363, 2408, and 2327 km. This translates into an average range of 2425 km with standard deviation of 82.3 km. BYD's advertised rating of 2100 km is about 4 standard deviation below that sample average which is actually quite conservative. People may be very surprised to see the real world range is actually significantly higher than BYD's CLTC rating. In fact, this is not a surprise if you understand the intent of the CLTC rating. The CLTC rating is very detrimental to the ICE vehicles because it uses a lot of stop/go cycles and biased toward lower average speed during the test. This is designed to reflect average driving condition in China where there is a lot of traffic congestion. Pure EVs always perform better under the CLTC rating. The BYD Qin L is not a pure EV. The majority of its range is obtained using the ICE power therefore the CLTC rating of 2100 km should be easily surpassed if the actual driving condition is at higher average speed and facing less traffic congestion.
This is a new technology, meaning it has big room for improvement. So the range can only be increased.

It is 2100 km not 1100 km! Some one tested actually it reached 2400 km.

A mainland Chinese YT has done a real life test, drove BYD Seal 06 DM-I from Xi’an in the North all the way to Shenzhen in the south in 5 days, used it until the battery gone flat, clocking 2408.8km total distance, with one single charge and fuel with AC at 24°C
With the speed average of 120km/hr as information said they would need less than 18 hours to drive. Why would they spent 5 days to reach the distance of 2100 km? Especially during the testing they had a team to test it. How do they do the testing, It will need more detail explaination?

My round trip to and from work is 12 miles in town driving. With this car I could go for 6 months on gas without refueling, or never need gas if I home-charge it. But I’m deprived of the rights of buying one for usd16k, what the hell!

It's not 1100km,it's actually 2100km on pure fuel and can go up to 2597km in a real test with full battery and when aircon is not turned on. Toyota is going to use BYD’s DM-i technology, but I think BYD will only sell the older DM-i to Toyota,not the current 5th generation DM-i.

Only issue o have is the neck support is fixed at an angle that makes me get pain in the neck, so far only VW, Skoda and Audi have option to adjust in both X and Y axis, not even Xpeng nor Zeekr have it and I need it.... 😢

Stupid design. Who needs 2400km range in a vehicle only to carry around a lot of redundant 'deadweight' in engine, fuel. Better to have 150km pure EV battery with fast charging, and portable engine you can take out for long drives.
You can charge without refueling during daily driving. When driving for long distances, you will still find refueling more convenient, and BYD makes long-distance driving more cost-effective. BYD provides more options.
