Hi Matthew, I mentioned in previous comments, I have Widex 440 Sheer hearing aids, and iPhone 13 and Windows 10 laptop. I ordered the Widex Sound Connect as soon as my provider could accept orders. The Sound Connect works EXACTLY as described! It is FLAWLESS! I'm so happy with this wonderful product. In fact, I'm listening to your RUclips with it right now!

Hi Matthew, thank you for the enlightening video--as always. Just this week, I picked up my new Widex SmartRIC aids and am enjoying them already. Since my computer is a new MacBook Air with an M2 chip, I presumed, after watching your video, that I would be able to pair the SmartRICs with my MacBook WITHOUT requiring the use of the SoundConnect dongle. When I discovered they wouldn't connect, I checked with my audiologist and she asked Widex. To my surprise, they said I do need to use the SoundConnect--even though my MacBook has the M2 chip. Doesn't this surprise you, too?

I had hoped for the same thing when I got my new MacBook Pro and they announced the connectivity option. Unfortunately, none of the Widex hearing aids are compatible, giving Widex the opportunity to sell you another external device for $150.

Windows and Android. This only works with other widex aids, right? That's of limited use, then. Using a Phonak P50 and it pairs with my phone and laptop simultaneously. It switches to phone when I get a call but I have to manually switch it back to the laptop once the call ends.

I'm using a Mac Studio M1 and Rexton's. The setup went just as you instructed and the connection worked and showed both left and right however I'm only getting sound on the right side. I tried going to the Music app as well as RUclips and I'm still no sound from the left hearing aid. When I go back to regular hearing aid mode I get sound from both sides. Any advice? Thanks for the clear and helpful video. I have always hoped to have this function and I just needed someone to show how to uncover it.

I have worn NHS non-bluetooth hearing aids for years, so I was thrilled when they became faulty in November 2023 and the replacement pair issued to me is Bluetooth (Phonak - don't know what model). They immediately paired and worked with my Samsung S.series Android smartphone, which is great. I am a daily user of large desktop PC (Windows 10 with Bluetooth built in). The PC seems to have "paired" successfully with my NHS hearing aids. I know this because on screen, I can see a list of devices and it clearly states the presence of my Left & Right hearing aids. But when I go to "sound/playback", I cannot see my hearing aids (only my bog standard desktop speakers). Does this mean that I need an intermediate device to bridge this gap?

I have Oticon hearing aids and have an Intel Mac, so it’s my understanding that I would require additional hardware to connect to my Mac. However I also have an iPad and an iPhone, to which I can connect directly using Accessibility Hearing Devices. So I connect to my iPad instead of connecting to my Mac.

Windows/Android. Anyone know if Signia AX work? Hate to splurge 200 for a small brick. Sounds like it's only guaranteed to work with certain widex hearing aids. With the latest Mac hardware. That would highly limit the market. I've learned those compatible lists for android should be taken seriously. If not on the list you may get it to work, but will probably experience some technical issues.

It sounds like you're contradicting yourself b/c you say, "Firstly, Apple Macs only make up around a fifth of the market share for desktop use in the US, so four fifths of you out there won't benefit from this tech update," which sounds like the Widex SoundConnect WILL work with Macs. But then you say, "Secondly, you need a pretty up-to-date Mac for it to work, so if you're an older Mac user, or not a Mac user at all, then the Widex Sound Connect is perfect for you." Aren't those statements contradictory? This also makes the title of the video "Connect Your Hearing Aids To ANY Computer With The Widex SoundConnect" misleading.

Windows and Android user with Signia AX hearing aids. I recently got an iPad for school and now it has become my main device because of how easy and well it streams to my hearing aids. I can’t afford to switch over all of my devices so this tech is interesting to me. Connecting to my laptop requires the signia microphone and it’s terrible and never use it. Connecting to my android is more possible than the laptop but not nearly as good as the iPad. I also have to speak into my phone during calls while the iPad is hands free.

Hi there, sadly there’s been a misunderstanding. There was a Mac update recently and so hearing aids with LE audio can now connect to newer macs. The issue is that this is limited to newer macs (as you and I both agree on). So for those that don’t have a new Mac, or that have a PC - they can use the Widex sound connect which can indeed work with any computer. Hopefully this makes more sense now. Thanks for watching, Matthew
