Thanks a lot my friend, some flies take more time than others, but if you want to tie a good imitation for trouts that used to reject most of the flies you have to go to a better imitation like this one and trust me many times this do all the job. Best regards
Thank you your work is inspiring. Your choice of music is excellent, on some videos I have to mute the distracting obtrusive music. Yours is truly background music. I was stunned that someone actually tried to give you advice on how to tie a better fly. I had to laugh.
Once again Ruben, I am indebted to you for instructing me in the fine art of fly tying. This was a great lesson. I am still learning the art of spinning and watching you do the body on this fly was informative. Thank you sir.
Thanks for sharing your amazing talent for tying flies, when your finished tying them they look so realistic it's absolutely amazing. A True Art my friend. Thanks again for sharing your craft, tight lines. 🎣
Great looking fly .......thanks for the video.....this should be a fish catching machine.....I tied up a few but used olive uv pheasant tail for the legs looks super realistic ....cheers tight lines
I made my own fly vise from a pair of forceps with a 3 inch screw soldered to one handle.... Screw it into a log in the bank.... Actually works better than any vise I have bought.... Bring a few tools and things and tie on the bank what ever it is they are eating... I use natural material found on the side of the creek..... Seem to catch way more this way.... I use bark grass weeds pine needles and always find exactly what I need to match the bugs there.... Never had to buy any of the expensive stuff that fishermen bite on in the shops.... Made all my own custom tools when I was a kid because I couldn't afford the fly shop stuff and these days it's easy worse the costs... Now I have a 450 dollar Powell fly shop carbon rod and custom self made reel.... Also have rods I made myself from bamboo or other stuff..... Expensive stuff does not catch more fish... The only thing I do buy that is important is mustad hooks and a nice sharpening stone..... And now that I'm old and need glasses a good magnetic hook threading tool..... My favorite fishing is fly fishing then cast net then bobber and beer lol
Great-looking pattern. Can't wait to try it on our warm water species down here. Also, killer choice for the music. So tired of all the garage band stuff on RUclips.
South Louisiana. Warm water includes bass, sunfish (bream) crappie. Salt water (inside marsh fishing) includes redfish, speckled trout, black drum, and flounder,
fantastic work really amazing im just starting out fly fishing but i have been course fishing for years and i would really love to try out some of your work if thats something you can do
Great vid, i'm going to slim this down for a damsel nymph pattern, excellent pattern, great choice of music too... for the next one consider Carmina Burana for the finale...
i tie mine much simpler that looks very complexed but easy to follow thanks for that but straight up u have passion in ur work and i know from buying and tieing that wudnt be a cheap fly for your own pleasure ?
@@rubenmartinflies Wow. I didn't actually expect a replay. Would you please tell me what type/brand of mono you used for the eyes that changed color like that? Thanks!
Instead of using those tubes to build up the sides of the body you could take lead wrap and rap it around that area and smash it down with pliers. That way you have added some weight and made a nice body 👍
hermano es primera vez que veo tus videos y la mera verdad eres muy profesional en tus señuelos yo soy amante de la pesca un cordial saludo desde Veracruz dioz te bendiga
If you used brown raffia or other color of your choice as the top covering over the dubbed body, it could be even better. Also if you used 2 or 3 wraps of a partridge / grouse / ptarmigan body feather etc. and trimmed out the excess with sizzors it could be faster and easier for your legs. Excellent concepts and very good fly. I fish in Newfoundland for Brooke's and often find them full of dragon fly nymphs....this surely will catch them!
I like thin skin for thoraxes because it comes in many thicknesses and can be colored with permanent marker pens. It also looks more authentic and is more durable than something like raffia.

Kind regards my friend
Yes, buddy it will survive, we use it a lot here on Patagonia Argentina in lakes, we have very selective trouts and when they sims not to strike with any fly we use imitations like this one and if the fly brake after one or two catch its ok because the fly made his purpose. Best regards

I hope people stop complaining about the cost of hand tied flies after seeing the amount of time and skill it takes to create one. Great job sir!

Hola Rubén. Xfa qué material usas para las patas. Gracias
Ah ya vi. Fibras de pluma. Pero no son tan fáciles de manipular.
If you used brown raffia or other color of your choice as the top covering over the dubbed body, it could be even better. Also if you used 2 or 3 wraps of a partridge / grouse / ptarmigan body feather etc. and trimmed out the excess with sizzors it could be faster and easier for your legs. ptarmigan in winter is white so there
I like thin skin for thoraxes because it comes in many thicknesses and can be colored with permanent marker pens. It also looks more authentic and is more durable than something like raffia.
Sheila Emes white ptarmigan would be excellent if it could be colored with permanent marker pen or lacquer paint.
