So beautifully played. I learned this piece in college. I wish I could have played it this cleanly. Now, several decades later I'm trying to get the piece back into my fingers. What I think the piece needs to improve its musicality is a bit more dynamic and tempo fluctuations. A "diabolical suggestion" suggests a conversation. I think any performer could benefit from interpreting the piece as a conversation between them and the devil.... otherwise, it ends up sounding like an incredibly difficult metronome exercise.
The faster they are the harder they are. Ugh I should know, I accidentally hit the keys with the flesh of the my fingers and had blisters. Absolutely sucked but taught me a lesson.
I had this piano work played bij Jean Philippe Collard,… I heard this played bij Evgeni Kissing and I was able to buy the complete piano music of Prokofiev by Frederic Chiu… all marvelous,… Now we have an new one,…Katharina,… Chapeau Karharina marvelous played 👏👏👏.
Whoo...marry me!!! :) Nice job on this sick piece! Okay, to be completely honest this is not quite the best I've heard but still pretty damn nice, especially considering the challenge of something like this. And I can appreciate the fact that the videographer actually let us see her play without panning all over the piano, her face, her eyes, the bottom of the piano, then her hair or whatever, just like every other video does, drives me freakin' crazy.
Do you generally listen to music or rather watch all the fetishes around it, mate? Your last two words could be enlightening, but maybe you have improved in the latest eight years after writing those words, I'd be eager to know..., although you are not ought to reply, of course...
@@gynuskeen9205 What are you even talking about? I was liking the video because the video actually shows this the way I would watch someone play live, it shows them playing. Too often now you have these videographers that think they're being "creative" by panning all over the place, showing me views I couldn't care less about and making the video absolutely annoying to watch. Yeah, it drives me "freaking crazy" watching some of these stupid videos! If I'm watching a person play, I'm watching their hands, not their face, not the underside of the piano and all the other stupid views they show. What's the big deal about "last 2 words" that you think I need "improvement" on? You don't make any sense ... "mate", I don't need to "improve" how I watch a "freaking" video!
Listen to the 1974" International Tschaikowski Competetion Moscow " gold medal winner maestro Andrei Gawrilow. He played it more cool than the devil could do it. Respect also to Mrs. Treutler. This piece is not so easy.
At about 1:05 she makes a tiny pause to adjust her hands to the big chords, one of the several moments that suggest the technical control is not quite at 100%. Which we can all sympathize with as it's such a difficult piece
While impressed here, I like K much better, greater dynamics and exaggerations - plus I think it was a performance where The Creative was flowing thru him. (doesn't happen all the time but when it does the results are spectacular.)
Can someone please explain to my why everyone likes this piece so much, I think it’s really strange sounding and tuneless, that’s just my opinion. Can someone give me some backstory on this piece? That might open my eyes a little.
I know it sounds bad at first but the more you listen to it, the more you adjust and you’ll find you actually really like it. I read somewhere that it’s the last movement in something and is supposed to be ghoulish and scary or something like that, but idk, I personally wouldn’t think of it like that. Basically just listen to it a few extra times and you’ll see that it isn’t that bad. Same with Soaring by Schumann. It sounds a little weird but gets better the more you listen to it.
You have to learn to appreciate dissonance and melodies associated with that. And how tension and relief can be created inside the dissonance. Nevertheless it is not for everyone and that’s okay. I personally think it is superb
It is not a difficult piece... it is an atrociously difficult piece. Excellent performance...
Она настолько трудная? Я хотела взять её на летнюю сессию😢

I swear Prokofiev brings out one's Inner Child.
Yes!!!!
The 2 glissandos in this piece are sooo good.
but prefer them a little quicker than this interpretation

You're a brilliant performer, congratulations!Geert Dehoux, pianist.

one of the best video performances of this piece on youtube, thank you very much for this!
One of the best interpretations of this piece I've ever heard!
Agreed!
One of the only "interpretations" of this piece I have ever heard. Normally all you hear is noise. Great performance!
magnifique!!!! aussi je crois grandieuse!!!!

@@flyurway I beg your pardon, I misinterpreted your original words. Sorry again, now I've caught what you meant to say

This was greatly done!

Il n'y a pas le "souffle " puissant de Richter mais l'interprétation est quand même impressionnante.
Wow real virtuoso
I just watched Kissin’s cover and I like yours more.

Mind=blown ಠ_ಠ
Wow!! Better than Gavrilov and Kissin !!
😂😂😂
jolis croisés
nice performance, I know this piece is insane, but she can‘t stand a chance against kissin.
Actually, I think she can.
I like hers more.
1.55s is not good
xiaodi zhang if that part isn't so "good" then why don't you play the piece yourself and quit judging her performance?
Please indicate the specific issue instead of making baseless, soulless claims.
Love you Katharina! 🇰🇷
Verkrampfte Spielweise. Instrument klingt dadurch wie ein Blechkasten.
Someone should have told Prokofiev he couldn't compose.
john evans some people did it. they are now forgotten and Sergei is part of the hall of glory
Kind of lazy playing
Jalen Knight hard piece
That's only a compliment, my friend
Just imagine............ a boyfriend and she would readily chuck all this garbage
Absolutely no respect for this piece
perhaps you had trouble hearing it from your ivory tower.
Your playing is bad
