    find all the places that sell pet-bird food and equipment and ask them to hang your flyer in the window. people who find the bird sometimes decide to keep it. it stands to reason that the first thing they'll do is go to the pet-shop to buy food. if they see that someone is grieving over a lost bird, and that the bird probably won't be happy in an unfamiliar environment, they might decide to report the find.

      Thats a great idea, thanks for sharing. I remember I was in a pet store and someone walked in with a Cockatiel on their head. They said it just flew to them so they wanted food toys and a cage and wasn't going to bother looking for the owner.
      The store employees told him that he needs to search for the owners before deciding to keep him.
      Not sure what eneded up happening.

    🐦 In our budgie case..me, sister and mother followed him around the neighborhood. He stayed on some tall trees, we called him, letting him know we were near. Finally he went to a small tree, so I could show him his favorite mirror. He can't resist the power of mirrors, so he jumped on my arm. I ran home like never before!! 😅 💓 All in 2 hrs.

    Such a good video. My daughter Aviary Quaker got out a few weeks ago and I panicked as it was my fault, She paid alot for him. After he got out wild birds started chasing him and I watched him fly until he was out of sight, I thought he be lost for sure. The nest morning he was talking to his mate on top of the Aviary and as soon as I went out he come to me.
    I think what helped was there first winter we brought them inside and he became very friendly, He use to sit on my shoulder and when we put them back out late spring we continue to talk to them and give them treats out of our hands.
    What help him find his way back, Well I think helped was our Aviary Kakariki that next to him sings his heart out at first light.
    After his taste off being free little bugger was a battle to keep in the Aviary so had to bring him and his mate inside, Just couldn't take that risk again. Specially seen how the wild bird was on to him as soon as he got out

    Been raising canaries since I was 6, most of them flew out windows when I was growing up, one in middle of winter with snow.. all I had to do was to put out their mate cage and hearing the sounds they would come back on cage and I caught them. Canaries are easy to catch. Budgies are a pain in the arse. I lost 3 when I was 6 as the cage was out for sunshine and one of them learned how to open the door and they were gone as they are high fliers they flew over neighbouring buildings...

    My Bourke's hen got loose, and flew up into my sugar maple. She was afraid to fly down, and was calling to me to come get her! I kept coaxing her, and she flew down, but got blown off track, because they are so light, and not used to flying in outdoor conditions. She eventually made it down to a neighbor's landscaping, and waited for me to come get her. I am lucky she is so tame!

    It has been a week since my lovebird flew off... Is there still a chance of getting her back? She was sighted two days ago but they were unable to secure her as she's not clipped. I've been searching daily and pasting fliers, to no avail 🥺😞😢

      She is not tame... 🥺

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, please keep searching and post on all the lost and found pets and birds pages on social media. Contact vets, pet stores and animal services and let them know you have lost your Lovebird. She was sighted 2 days ago so it's best to search that area and surrounding areas. Knock on doors and ask if they have bird feeders in backyard as that's usually where pet birds are found.

    • @Jeb9221
      @Jeb9221 6 месяцев назад

      Yes.... I have advertised everywhere, contacted the media and pasted about 60 fliers.... My concern is that there is a forested area near where she was sighted. There is a possibility that she might've flown into it... 🥺
