Thank you so much for the great explanation of a pickit line. I do not have mules but I am the daughter of a cattleman that has left this Earth occasionally I will hear terms I so want to just call and ask Daddy!! I just want to thank you for explaining things 4 us daughters and that can no longer call Dad I pray you had a great Father's Day
Hey Paul, Try this... I use a piece of heavy surgical tubing at the picket side of the rope. Tie the tubing in between the picket stake and the rope. That way, as the animal pulls the rope taut, the tubing will start to apply more and more tension to the rope. They learn to stop pulling on the rope way before the rope gets too taut. They can also free themselves much more easily if the rope gets wrapped around their hind feet. The tubing i use is a three foot piece of spear-gun rubber. Its very strong and elastic. However, any stretchy tubing will work. Good luck.
Hi -- I learned that when you tie a horse the normal way (not a picket line) you don't want there to be any elastic involved because when the horse puts tension on the elastic and then "gives to the pressure", there is still tension on the rope so they don't get the immediate release. They'll get it eventually if they move toward where they're tied, but they won't get it immediately. And the release is how they learn yada yada. Wouldn't the same dynamic apply here?
@@williecosgrove Why? Seems like a reasonable suggestion and this guy doesn't seem particularly cranky :) I'm new to the channel and the low sound is problematic for me as well.

"Good afternoon, all you mule lovers out there in Facebook land." I subbed
Is it a Cotton or poly rope?
What brand is that aluminum picket stake?
Made and sold by Tuff Enuff in Arkansas.
Nice rope halter. What is the brand?
Specially made for me and to my specs.
@@mulatier Excellent. It is a nice one.
My pops once told me to never trust a man who wears a belt and suspenders at the same time.
The markings on that mule are similar to a cross between a horse and Zebra. Zebroid.
Nesesita unos cuantos de esos para mis mulas , donde los puedes conseguir
Sell me one of those buckskin mules you got there I'm serious
Adds are loud can't hear the video ! C'mon !

Not one mule here in Germany are as pretty as any of your mules. Mules are so hard to find here and they are more like donkeys than a mule 😢
