Treasure Island was apparently quite the place back in the day before it was wrecked by a hurricane in 2004. Video taken above, around, and from the beach.
I thought it looked like they were trying to remodel the last few years. We stayed there since the 90's until it closed. It was the best hotel and staff on the beach. Wonderful memories.
Thank you for your vid...my sister and I stayed here in the 80's as a teenagers with our family for a week or so during a few summers -- We met so many great kids who would return every year..always had a big group to hang out with.. I remember 2 sisters and their brother from Ireland..loving ms pac man lol... sadly we lost touch over the years.. Was always a great hotel.. lots of fun very clean great food.. so sad to see it these days. Will be a sad day to see it demolished.
The cost of rehabilitating the building far outweighs the cost of demolishing the hotel and building something new. Looks like a big site too, with lots of potential for something better.
Hey I went to this hotel back when I was 8 in 2001 and I loved the hotel. It looked nice inside and had a great view of the water. I hope they repair this hotel and not demolish it.
Just back from DB this past Easter weekend and no real change to the building. The owners have contractors picking at it but I think they are doing this to placate the city. No signs of finality.
I think the hurricane that came through in 2005 caused a lot of damage at TI. I'm told the owners were self-insured and did not have adequate coverage for repairs. Then, the Great Recession hit and that was the end of TI. Not sure what they are doing with it now. Was just down in DB this past Labor Day and no signs of improvement but minor demolition is still occurring. Crews have been taking out interior walls and concrete railings.
We live in Daytona... I've heard rebuild, tear down its all a money game . We stayed there in the 80s it's sad I really wish they would rebuild. They tore up the desert inn and rebuilding it down here.
As a visitor a hotel employee informed us that TV doesn't show roof damage after hurricanes . The inside of a building collapses from rain. That isn't recognized by us Northerners. Seems like Mother nature is hard on all of us, no matter where we live.

Interesting. I've been hearing that rumor off and on for several years. I was down in Daytona couple weeks back and workmen were jackhammering away at lower floor deck walls. I'm not sure what that means. If they were going to drop the building, you figure that jack hammering would be a waste of time. I'll be back in a few weeks and shoot more video.
Not directly. I believe the hurricane in 2005 wrecked the place enough that they closed it down. Sad that it hasnt been refurbished or rebuilt. Just sitting there.
Cars are allowed to drive on this stretch of the beach. Driving on the beach is a big deal in Volusia County. On the south end of the island is where the Daytona 500 got its start. Cars would race north on the beach, turn onto A1A, drive south, then circle back onto the beach.

I hope someone does rebuild. Loved this place Stayed from 84 til 04. Only place we stayed
We stayed here many times in the late 90's and early 00's. It's sad to see what has become of it. I'd love to see it be redone rather than demo'd.

great video. Place looks pretty wiped out and fenced up, I guess I wont be able to go in there :/
Wow I remember watching Bright Sun Films' video on this back in 2015 and still nothing has changed about this place. Damn.

I stayed there back in the 1970's. A hurricane? No wonder why it looks different. It was fun driving on the beach.

As of November 2019, no real change, no improvements, skeleton still standing. Sad.

Go ahead. Fly that drone into one of the rooms. I wanna' see.
Just back from Thanksgiving break down in Daytona. Still no change to the TI building. I'm not holding my breath for the alleged refurb.

So it's never going to be repaired at all now?

Rumours have been said they may reopen the building in the near future

Is this after a Hurricane?

@@rdkutube 🙂🙂☺️😄😍
...seems like the sorta place it would be fun to play with explosives in...or have a running firefight in.
Hope Hurricane Mathew didn't wreck it bad...
update building has been demolished! :(
I wasnt there, unfortunately, for the final demo but the videos were sorta sad. It definitely needed to come down.
why are there cars on the beach?

DHI P3 Pro.
DJI P3 Pro.
I've seen cars on the beach in Ocean Shores, WA. It's fun to watch the cars get stuck in the sand pit, then everyone runs over & pushes them out.
Well, looks like it will be abandoned forever now.
So can we go there
December, 2019 update. No real progress. ruclips.net/video/_oCRzi98iAk/видео.html
