    Thank you! This is the best review I've found. Just put the order in for the new 3rd generation player. ❤

    I got the yoto mini and absolutely love it!!!! My daughter got it when she was 1 and was able to figure out the cards quickly, it is so kid friendly and pretty indestructible. Probably my favorite purchase, and I don’t have to worry about her getting on a screen to find music.

      Yes! Absolutely agree with everything 🙌 I really didn't consider the travel aspect when deciding yoto vs mini, which in retrospect was such a silly thing to overlook but it seemed travel was SO far in the future. They've both had a fair share of drops and bumps along the way & are holding up much better than our own electronics! The fact that the cards can be put in any way at all was such an important touch, I think!

    I got both and so far. Mostly using the big one. haven’t unboxed the mini because I only want her to have it while traveling. But I am obsessed! The V3 sound quality is very good and We’re putting grown up stuff like 5 hour history podcasts on the MYO cards. I can listen to it while doing childcare, as long as my toddler isn’t demanding to play her music. Kids are not the only one who benefits from being screen free 😂 I am as obsessed with that thing as my toddler. We sometimes argue over which card to play 😅

      I've been very curious about the V3 ever since I heard about its release!!!

      @@MariaandMontessori I can’t give you a comparison since I never had previous versions, but I love the device. The biggest change, I heard, is that the sound quality is much improved (and the 24 hour battery life. But given that ours is never far from a charging station, don’t know how relevant that is for most users).
      I have a B&O Beosound Bluetooth speaker and while the B&O is better (but then again, it would be shocking and even shameful if it wasn’t, given the brand and the fact that it costs twice as much!) but my audiophile husband never complained about the sound quality. I would say it’s definitely 80-90% there, and sounds good enough for any living room, even for pretty complex music (and let’s face it, the Yoto file sizes are not big enough for really good speakers to shine 😂)
      So a major thing for me is, it’s good enough be the ONLY living room music player. And that’s great because it means I don’t have to be attached to my phone if I want to control music too. Allows me to model being away from the smartphone for my kids. It functions in our house as a shared speaker our toddler also uses and a clock, rather than JUST being for her.

    THANK YOU for showing and describing the physical cards. That’s one reason I hadn’t jumped on board yet was bc I was scared the cards were just cardboard or something and my kids would DESTROY that.

    Do you have to let the song or chapter play all the way to have it stored on the player to use without Wi-Fi?

    Hi Maria! It's great to see your friendly face even just via a RUclips video. 🙂 Great timing with this upload! We are traveling in a few weeks and it will be my daughter's first airplane ride. I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Yoto Mini with your discount code! I'm also looking forward to making cards to include her favorite songs in Spanish. Take care! 🤗

    Such a thorough review! We also have both and more than our fair share of cards, but unfortunately my daughter just hasn't taken to the Yotos the way I have. 😆 I'm going to give it more time to see if she gets more into it once she ages into audiobooks.

    Hello, does the mini actually play offline (out and about) without having the cards inserted? I have not seen this work. I also have not been able to stream from the app on my phone to the mini unless the mini is connected to WiFi

    We braille labeled the top of the cards because it's great for blind users with the limited buttons.

    Not related to this video (though I particularly loved it), but since you are a bilingual family, I had a question. If I’d like to learn a language and have my kiddo learn at the same time, do you have any recommendations on how to accomplish that? Thought I’d ask, as my initial Google search results aren’t helpful.

    • @MariaandMontessori
      @MariaandMontessori  Год назад +2

      Kids learn language best through human to human interaction! So unlike us adults who might start with the Alphabet, nouns, then verbs, etc...they will pick up language best when it is spoken to them & around them. Meaning the best option for you is to find, if at all possible, any place where the language you're learning is going to be spoken! Also reading to them in that language - you or another person is preferable over an audio book, but that can be a great supplement. So if it's a language you can learn to read relatively quickly and then read at least simple books in, that will give you a great place to start. And of course, as you progress in your own journey, speaking with them in thag language!
      Not sure if you've seen the video I did on bilingualism a little bit ago, but I covered in general the various approaches to being a bilingual home & incorporating that new language when it's not one you're fluent in yet! ruclips.net/video/X8zwHguaz_A/видео.html

    The CPSC just issued a safety recall on these, the lithium battery can overheat and cause a burn or fire.

      At least the one we have definitely can't- it doesn't have the lights around it the way the original does and there's no programming option in the app for it

    How do you put up pictures on wall for baby without having it loose against a wall so baby doesn't tear it down. I tried baby just tears it down

    • @MariaandMontessori
      @MariaandMontessori  Год назад +1

      We practiced being gentle and using our eyes only first! With flowers and other items in the home or outside. I asked her to put her hands on her back and use her eyes only. Then I modeled. And we practiced this a lot before I put the pictures up!
      We hung the frames with velcro command strips on the top and bottom of the frame, so they needed some force to pull off too. But I still always emphasized eyes only. When we first added the pictures, she really wanted to explore, so we were consistent with the boundary. She loves the pictures so she didn't want them gone & was able to understand that would be the consequence if she touches them.
      She's 2.5 now so we don't have an issue with her ever touching them at this point!
