- What's best Yoto or Tonies? What is the best kids audio player? Audiobooks are a fantastic way to help kids get excited about books, learn new words and have fun without a screen. I've been using the Yoto and Toniebox for some time now with my kids, along with a couple of other hugely popular audio players. I've compared the Yoto vs Toniebox along with the Amazon Echo Dot Kids and Voxblock to help you choose an audio player screen-free toy for your kids!

Vicky, this is a great review! Thank you for sharing your honest feedback and points of consideration so other parents can use this as a reference in their hunt for a great screen free audio player!
Thank you for your Review! I would have loved to see a Review on the Timio Player. It definitely similar and different enough to deserve its own Review ❤ we love our @Timio. It goes really well hand to hand with our Tonie Box and its perfect for our bilingual family
I had never heard of the timio before! I’m so excited I’ve been looking for something bilingual like this. Thanks for the recommendation!
@randat8549 I believe so. Sadly, they are not big on Marketing. But they have great customer service. @TIMIO
Yoto sounds like a winner to me🎉 cheap cards and easy to store + good app perfect
Definately Team Tonies ❤ The figures are just soooo much better then the cards. My little one loves to play with them as well ❤
Great video. Thank you for the information! 📚💜🌻
Very helpful video! Thanks for sharing!
Which would you say is best for younger kids/toddlers?
The Toniebox is fun for toddlers due to the figures, but if you want longevity they’ll get a lot out of the Yoto as they hit age 6 and up
Great review, I’m just wondering if you lose a tonie character can you still play the content like on the yoto?
Great question, the answer as far as I can see is no you can’t. There’s no option in the app for Tonies that allows you to play one of your Tonies via the app rather than directly on the device, unlike with Yoto. So if you do lose one I think you need to replace
I would really like to get my hands on a Voxblock! But it seems they only deliver in the UK
That's a shame, they are relatively new so maybe they will expand their offering in the future.
Really useful, thank you
The key thing I can’t find an answer to, is how much do the yoto story cards cost? Where do you buy them? For instance, if I want to buy the gruffalo, and it’s 5 quid, it could start getting very expensive
Yoto cards start at around £5 to £6 and can be over £30 if you’re buying certain story bundles
My daughter (almost 6) has asked for a Tonie box, i think more so because of the charaters. But i just cant get my head around the cost of it! Shes definitely more into the music side, which i know some characters play. But do you think the Echo would be better? I've looked at the Yoto, but all the cards seem to be just stories. Does the radio play the more common kids songs i.e. Frozen / Disney, can she select specific songs or is it just what ever the radio is playing at the time?
Sorry so many questions
The Toniebox is so fun with the figures, I get why she’s drawn to it! With Yoto and Tonies you can create your own cards or a custom Tonie with a playlist of your Child’s fave music (you’ll have to source/pay for that music of course). With Yoto radio it plays some popular music in the day then instrumental lullabies at night. She cannot select a specific song via Yoto radio, and there’s no music streaming service on Yoto like with the echo. If it’s solely playing music she’s into then a music streaming speaker like Echo would be the best option. If she wants audiobooks and options to play a music playlist then Tonies or Yoto do this. Happy to answer any questions.
The Echo Dot is great for 4+. My kids have been using them for years and love them. My 7yo learned all about space from asking Alexa questions; he knows all the planets, their order, the moons of the different planets, their makeup. He'll ask Alexa to play music, play lullabies at bedtime, and interacts with it asking random questions all the time. He'll even ask how to do things, including how to spell something when doing homework. The other audio players might be good for 3 and under but I really don't think kids will like them as they get older.
@@TheMummyBubble instrumental lullabies? i love this genre because there is my favorite one. when we have a yoto mini, i can make a card with these titles.
they are:
cute songs compilation - 25 tracks
어린이 한국어 동요 모음집 - 17 tracks
wiwi friends: songs from the episodes - 30 tracks
cywion bach: synau’r cymraeg lytheren (instrumentals) - 4 tracks
놀이로 소리 배우기 ost - 20 tracks
little friends: songs from the musical toys - 32 tracks
Which speaker has the best sound quality?
the yoto mini has the best sound quality.
This was very helpful. Do any of them come with books for them to read along with? My almost 4 year old is dying to read and I wondered if he could follow along with the words in a physical book.
Glad it was useful! No they don’t and I wondered about this too actually, I think it would be useful and quite nice if you could get both the audio and physical book as a bundle
I saw books now available with one of the cube styles
My daughter is 6 and likes to look at the words. Some of the Tonies have books with their figurine.
The storypod does
Hi, I've been looking for something like this for my 3yr old... what is the sound quality like on each one please?
Both very good. The new 3rd gen Yoto Player has improved sound but to be honest I can’t really tell the difference between it and Yoto Mini. Toniebox is also good sound quality so it really comes down to which one you prefer in terms of how they work and the selection of audio available
Which have the most black authors?
I'm not sure specifically on that but in terms of a far wider selection of audio content Yoto has a much larger collection of cards.
