This review was great and I believe we're going to get my kiddo one! When you went to put it back on the shelf, I did think you were about to throw that mini on the floor when you were talking about those protective sleeves.
GREAT video. I just purchased one and this video helped me understand more about the Yoto player. I purchased the larger size for my 23 year old son who has special needs(he’s developmentally behind). I thought the same…This device is more auditory, and cuts down on screen time. We have not received it yet, but, I am hoping he shows interest in the Yoto even though he is older. He loves music and stories, so, fingers crossed.

I saw that you had the yodel in one of your prior videos so I purchased it.
I got it for our two year old boy. So far he has a bit of a hard time focusing on it, totally hyperactive all the time. I expect that he will enjoy it more in a year or two. How his older brothers focus came a little bit later.
I just wish they had more stories available!

@haileyoutside I have an advanced 6 yr old who loves reading and music. What do you think the age cap for this is? She uses an iPad currently for this but I like the idea of a more tactile and “focused” approach to listening.
What card did you have I'm at the very beginning? Thinking of this for Christmas for my 2 year old.

I’m sold! The thing I’m looking forward to the most is audiobooks it didn’t even cross my mind to play audio book before I would just read myself as much as possible but I’m working on getting rid of screen time all together.

I'm interested in getting the mini but i have a 8 yo and a 3 yo and i dont think they'll want to share plus you can't split it during car rides so I'd have to buy 2?? Or does it have bluetooth? 😢

Thanks for the video, we own the yoto mini and my 4 yo loves it. I'm wondering about the yoto for the first birthday of my second child. Can it play the music of a card while it's flip to be used as a nightlight ?
I had to double check but yes the card still plays while it’s face down and the night light is on!

There are 1 card by the rock group queen, loads of tom fletchers great books, two beatles albums and one paul mccartney card
How about the sound quality between the two?
Not sure if it's mentioned in the video since I'm not done yet, but what are the cards made of? Paper or plastic? 😂 I can't tell

I feel like when we get a new card it takes forever to work. Does anyone else have this issue? How long do you have to leave it in for it uplaod?

Yes you do.

It last generation (2024) they actually improved the battery or larger device but also DOWNGRADE the battery of the smaller to incentivate people to buy most expensive product.
Is the speaker loud enough for a large family in a large room?
Yes, the larger Yoto has a better speaker but even the mini is plenty loud
Debating to buy this for my son. He is about to turn 2 years old ? What do you think is a good age to buy it ?
My oldest got it about that age and it took him a few months before he was really interested. I would say 2 1/2 is the perfect time! But my second has enjoyed it earlier because she has seen her older brother use it.

Yes there’s Spanish stories. Also French. Another option is to buy the Make your own cards and you can upload your own audiobooks on there. I just asked my grandfather to record himself reading a book he used to read to me for my son.

Is the regular yoto also a projector?
Unfortunately no. But the sound is better!

Hi, How is the quality of the audio?
the mini one is louder.
Maybe it's just me, but this seems like an expensive substitute for either reading books to your kids or teaching them to how to read independently. If I wanted to play an audio book or podcast, I could just connect my phone to a cheap bluetooth speaker that my kid has set up in their room. 🤔
You totally could! But I like using my phone to listen to my own audiobooks, especially in the car. I still love to read to my kids everyday, but I’m a working mom and can’t do it all day
I just like the idea of freedom for them. My daughter is 6 and reads chapter books. It’s accessible. The mini seems good for long car trips
I grew up reading lots of books or my mom reading to me .... But I also really loved listening to my books on cassette on my own .
For me, it’s partly about providing my kid with physical media. I hate that streaming is so abstract, especially for a young child. And also he likes to listen to Real Gone by Sheryl Crow on blast and I….don’t. Also I can’t read to my child while driving 😅
My Grandson gets carsick if he reads a book in the car. This is a great alternative. Also, I homeschool through literature and read A LOT, so as another option to use while they play is great.
Aawwwan, these mini yotos were recalled.
Why?
They recalled the minis released from 2021 to March 2024 because of concern over fires being caused by the charge cords. They offered replacement cords and updated software that fixed the issue, and its not a problem with later releases.

Totally up to you! I like to listen to audiobooks on my phone myself, so I love that they have their own screen free device to listen to their own books
I have a Tony box & it works great I prefer it over the Yodie!!!
I heard the Tonie box only has 100 figurines and the Yoto has over 600 card options. Another option to think about when deciding which is better.
