GREAT video. I just purchased one and this video helped me understand more about the Yoto player. I purchased the larger size for my 23 year old son who has special needs(he’s developmentally behind). I thought the same…This device is more auditory, and cuts down on screen time. We have not received it yet, but, I am hoping he shows interest in the Yoto even though he is older. He loves music and stories, so, fingers crossed.
Thank you for the review. Trying to decide between a Yoto Player and Tonies Box. So far Im going with the Yoto Player. Thanks I was about to get the Tonies Box....😮
Im so happy i found this review! My son is 4 and really enjoys listening to music and when we read books. He cant read yet so we actually have a CD player with few CD books and music CDs. He tried to lug it around the house and listen to it in the room hes playing in. This is wayyyy more kid friendly because it doesnt involve plugging and unplugging the cable lmaooo
I’m sold! The thing I’m looking forward to the most is audiobooks it didn’t even cross my mind to play audio book before I would just read myself as much as possible but I’m working on getting rid of screen time all together.
Thank you for the review! Lots of information and right to the point. I’ve been wondering if I should get one for my kids and I appreciate this review from you.
This review was great and I believe we're going to get my kiddo one! When you went to put it back on the shelf, I did think you were about to throw that mini on the floor when you were talking about those protective sleeves.
really helpful review, love the Gruffalo! In the UK every year on Christmas Day julia davidson has a new movie made about one of her books. Everyone here gets excited about seeing them on TV on Christmas day. This year it's the 'Tiddler' story.
I'm interested in getting the mini but i have a 8 yo and a 3 yo and i dont think they'll want to share plus you can't split it during car rides so I'd have to buy 2?? Or does it have bluetooth? 😢
@@philipandcatherinejessep7996 you could just buy a "headphone splitter" then plug 2 headphones in that, i do this with my ipod and laptop when listening to devices with my partner
I saw that you had the yodel in one of your prior videos so I purchased it. I got it for our two year old boy. So far he has a bit of a hard time focusing on it, totally hyperactive all the time. I expect that he will enjoy it more in a year or two. How his older brothers focus came a little bit later. I just wish they had more stories available! Love your videos in the outdoors with your family. That is me with my kiddos…the best way to live.❤
Oh that’s awesome! Yes, and I think he will love it more when he’s a little bit older! That’s how it is for my three year old at least. Thanks for sharing!♥️♥️
@haileyoutside I have an advanced 6 yr old who loves reading and music. What do you think the age cap for this is? She uses an iPad currently for this but I like the idea of a more tactile and “focused” approach to listening.
Yes there’s Spanish stories. Also French. Another option is to buy the Make your own cards and you can upload your own audiobooks on there. I just asked my grandfather to record himself reading a book he used to read to me for my son.
Looking to get my 7 year old the mini but undecided for my 2 1/2 year old if she’s will find the larger one easier. Or to get her both as we will definitely be using it out and about
Thanks for the video, we own the yoto mini and my 4 yo loves it. I'm wondering about the yoto for the first birthday of my second child. Can it play the music of a card while it's flip to be used as a nightlight ?
This is just the same as growing up listening to casette tapes story along a book. Whether these cards are juat audio listening without a book to follow
My oldest got it about that age and it took him a few months before he was really interested. I would say 2 1/2 is the perfect time! But my second has enjoyed it earlier because she has seen her older brother use it.
Maybe it's just me, but this seems like an expensive substitute for either reading books to your kids or teaching them to how to read independently. If I wanted to play an audio book or podcast, I could just connect my phone to a cheap bluetooth speaker that my kid has set up in their room. 🤔
You totally could! But I like using my phone to listen to my own audiobooks, especially in the car. I still love to read to my kids everyday, but I’m a working mom and can’t do it all day
For me, it’s partly about providing my kid with physical media. I hate that streaming is so abstract, especially for a young child. And also he likes to listen to Real Gone by Sheryl Crow on blast and I….don’t. Also I can’t read to my child while driving 😅
My Grandson gets carsick if he reads a book in the car. This is a great alternative. Also, I homeschool through literature and read A LOT, so as another option to use while they play is great.
Totally up to you! I like to listen to audiobooks on my phone myself, so I love that they have their own screen free device to listen to their own books
It last generation (2024) they actually improved the battery or larger device but also DOWNGRADE the battery of the smaller to incentivate people to buy most expensive product.
They recalled the minis released from 2021 to March 2024 because of concern over fires being caused by the charge cords. They offered replacement cords and updated software that fixed the issue, and its not a problem with later releases.
Does it have a radio, podcast, allow you to make your own figurines? Does it also play back from where you last stopped? Does it have an alarm clock and night light? Would love to know why you love it over the yotobox

How are you liking it so far?
Let me know. I have 18 year old with special needs who prefers audio.
Time stamps are in the description so you can skip to any part you have a question about ❤
Can you connect it to a speaker? Via usb C ->jack? Thank you

plastic, they feel like credit cards

Hi, grateful video very helpful! I have a question, go you know if you can add stickers to the make your own cards? Would they still work?
Love how detailed this review is!
I’m glad to hear it!
Thanks for the video Hailey! I think my kids will be getting one for Easter 😊
Of course! Such a great Easter gift. I’m going to be putting a couple cards in my toddlers basket!
Does the Yoto comes in Spanish language as well? HI! im from Argentina 🇦🇷

which one has the better sound for the speaker? im wondering because we would like to use some of the music cards for it. thanks!
What card did you have I'm at the very beginning? Thinking of this for Christmas for my 2 year old.
Can you create make your own cards for someone else's yoto player as gifts?
There are 1 card by the rock group queen, loads of tom fletchers great books, two beatles albums and one paul mccartney card
How is the sound quality of the two units?
Hailey, do you have an updated code? It isn't working for me
Can you use Bluetooth headphones with Yoto?

they are made of plastic, so they are durable
Can 2 different phones have the app for one Yoto mini player?

I had to double check but yes the card still plays while it’s face down and the night light is on!
Is the volume the same for both devices?
Great review! I’m buying one today!
How about the sound quality between the two?
This is just the same as growing up listening to casette tapes story along a book. Whether these cards are juat audio listening without a book to follow
Is the speaker loud enough for a large family in a large room?
Yes, the larger Yoto has a better speaker but even the mini is plenty loud
Loved this review! Thank you!!
Fantastic review. Thank you so much.

Hi, How is the quality of the audio?
the mini one is louder.
Do you need wifi connection to access their radio/podcast?
Yes you do.

Unfortunately no. But the sound is better!

I just like the idea of freedom for them. My daughter is 6 and reads chapter books. It’s accessible. The mini seems good for long car trips
