Green is a freak of nature. I once read that he ran something like a 4.6 or 4.7 forty on his 50th birthday. Darrell is the same age as me and I’m 63 and I bet he can still run a forty in less than 5.0? Maybe even a 4.8 at sixty three years old. Darrell had a unique running style I’ve never seen anyone else look like. When he was in stride, the only image I’ve seen like his posture is the image of Hermes/Mercury as the FTD Florist logo. He just lacked the wings on his ankles. When you look at a frame of his stride, his back foot is pointed away from his body and his front leg has his toes pointed forward. Who knows, maybe Darrell was Hermes or Mercury? II think that was the secret to his super powers. It must have given him the stride of a much larger man. His toes were pointed like that because of the push he had with his planted foot. He pushed so hard, it caused his toes to be pointed straight backwards away from him. He won the NFL fastest man contest all four time he competed in it. No one could touch his speed. If he had been a receiver, he would have set every record there is for that position. Yes, he was short, but we can see his lateral leaping ability in many films. Darrell could our jump Randy Moss, who was over 6’5” tall and Green was around 5’8” or 5’10”. He is amazing and I haven’t seen another corner who could not only match his speed, but shut down some of the greatest receivers in NFL history. Every receiver that played Washington had their worst days when Green was covering them. Even the great Jerry Rice had his lowest receptions vs. green. Even with a torn rib cartilage, Darrell outran the Bear’s special team to return the punt that iced the divisional playoff game. Then the next week, playing all day on that cartilage, Darrell still made the final hit of the game where he jarred the ball lose to deny Minnesota the TD they so desperately needed to tie the championship game and send it to overtime. Darrell was that one player who always stepped up in the biggest games to secure the important wins for Washington.
The fact that this guy made first team All-Pro only once is an indictment on the league voting. That's absolutely silly. Idk its a close race on that one cant forget joey galloway or deshaun jackson those two were absurd fast as well id like to see all four race not now of course but those r four fastest i can remember and its hard say who was fastest
@@dylanhanes7205 Jim Hines was the fastest man to ever play in the NFL. He is the only player to ever run under 10 seconds in the 100m dash, and was the fastest man in the world for 15 years.
I totaly forgot bout that dude of course wasnt born till 1980 so some things i flat forgot or did not know but i do recall hearing bout this mans speed and how absurd it was
@Chris Paul Hayes ran on an Olympic cinder track that only had 7 races on it. Hines ran 4 years later, on cinders.
NOT the fastest Herschel BEAT him 2X...Fact
Herschel's best 100M was a 10.14 windaided. Darrell ran a 10.08 legal. Not every race you're going to win but Darrell overall ran the fastest times & was consistently faster throughout their respective careers. But you are right, Herschel did beat him twice.
BreuckelensFinest Man O Mano is THE TOP TEST! You run fast when I'm not around...than when I see you I whup you straight up! Than you go and run some more impressive times...than I come test you...Spank you again...Nuff said cause WE KNOW...plus Cowboy Bob would've dusted him.
@@poppopartist3870 I can name 25 players that have run faster than Walker. 7 players who have run faster than Green. And 4 players that have run faster than Hayes.
sydboski K believe rookie Moss fastest
@@poppopartist3870 Moss was not any where near world class in sprinting.
He was quick at 40 and 60 yards. But Herschel Walker beat him in the 100 yard dash. Speed is not fast times in the 40 or 60 yards dashes. The true measure of speed is the 100 and 200 meters. Check out the link below and forward to 43:55 to watch the 100 yard race between Darryl Green and Herschel Walker.

But Green has a faster PB in the 100m than Walker. 10.08 to 10.23
Um, no.
Obviously you run slower with a football in your hand so his tackles from behind aren't that impressive. Just saying.
I've never heard anything as stupid as this in my life. The younger generation has the most outlandish shit to say that you guys have no clue about. Bc Darrell was before your time doesn't mean that he wasn't good or fast. Tyreek Hill would have gotten walked down by Darrell Green, that's how fast he was! Eric Dickerson was the fastest RB in the NFL at that time with a 4.3 & Tony Dorsett was a 4.1 guy at one time. One day you'll hear the dumb shit that comes out of young people's mouths & then you'll understand.
Darrell was great but Roy Green with Cards had his number.
Deion was faster
NOT!! Green ran 10.08 100m vs Deion at 10.26.
Deion Sanders x Randy Moss x Bo Jackson all look faster to me. I respect Greens speed but on camera gotta give it to Moss or Sanders.
Troy Spencer Deon was definitely faster
But how long did he stay fast though!
+Troy Spencer Green was faster than all of the players you mentioned.
+Troy Spencer But he wasn't the fastest player in NFL history.
Forty times: Deion and Randy--4.25, Bo --4.12, Darrell--4.03.
