    You are by far, the most valuable player in the homested world .
    In my opinion.
    Well spoken, down to earth advice. Suitable for an average family farm.
    We don't have a 40 acre farm and a family of 6. It's just me and mom on a fixed income.

    Thought both of my does would have given birth by the 16th. I just tried to re breed. Both lifted immediately. Now we are shooting for the 18th next month, that would be 31 if you count today. Sucks because we lost both of there litters in December. They have both been wonderful moms taking litters of 8 9 &10 out to friers. Just this last litter threw us off. Fingers crossed

    Brilliant!
    I put my little Dutch with a buck on Xmas day, so I'm just a wee bit behind you. She's started gathering hay, so the nest box is in.
    This one was planned, so she's inside my outbuilding, and I'll have a little paraffin greenhouse heater running over the next couple of nights.
    I do actually have a baby alarm camera to put in there, but the last time (she's had a false try) I was careless, and she chewed the power cable for me (12v).
    We can't get the galvanised feeders, that seem to be in abundance in the States, here in Britain. I don't think it's as common to breed rabbits as it was a couple of decades ago here. Who knows, maybe that's about to change.
    Respect!

    Hey Chris, have you ever had a doe build a nest and pull fur a week before due and have a successful litter or is that generally a sign of phantom pregnancy?

    • @Slightlyrednecked
      @Slightlyrednecked  3 года назад

      I have had them do it several days before but I don't think a week before. I don't know that it really means much of anything. I would give her at least a week after she is due before I considered it a false pregnancy.

      I am guessing that this is a first time doe. What you described isn't uncommon and is no need for worry. If you have 3 fall offs, I would count her as pregnant and wouldn't re breed her.

    Hey, I’m from Bangladesh. I want to keep quails for eggs. I’m not sure how many quails I need to have.I have a family of 4 and we consume about 3-4 eggs each a day (12-16 eggs a day in total). And one more thing, can u please tell me how I can get eggs all year round. Thanks.

  • @leedavis6354
    @leedavis6354 3 года назад

    We all know that you do rabbits and quail but which is more economical? If you had to choose only one which one would you choose

    • @Slightlyrednecked
      @Slightlyrednecked  3 года назад +1

      That is tough to say. If you are looking at strictly the amount of meat you can produce then it would probably be quail since you can choose to incubate as many eggs as you want to and get as many birds as you want.

    • @Slightlyrednecked

    What size J feeders do you use in your cages?

    • @Slightlyrednecked
      @Slightlyrednecked  3 года назад

      I am not sure what size they are actually. I would have to measure them. I honestly wouldn't worry about the size too much. Most of the time (exception is when the doe has kits with her) I am only putting in a small amount of food per day so size isn't a big concern.

      I am sorry for the slow response. I am sure you already figured this out but rabbits don't usually show any signs of pregnancy until the day they are having the babies. it isn't a concern if she hasn't built a nest yet. Just give her some time (in fact, she has probably already had the babies). If she hasn't had the babies in another week then go ahead and re breed her if you want to.

      Sorry for the slow response. I haven't had any does go over 32 days myself but it isn't uncommon for a doe to take up to 40 days. I would give her at least that long before I considered her not pregnant and then go ahead and re breed her.
