    Thanks for your great videos, the best I've found. Why not install a long flashing piece that covers the entire length, under all shingles ? Vs this layered, cascade like approach ?

    • @RoofRepairSpecialist
      @RoofRepairSpecialist  3 месяца назад +1

      Definitely don’t do that. Step flashing kicks the water out and doesn’t allow water to travel under the shingle.

    Only 3 nails per shingle? How many nails are required by the product approval for the shingles?

    • @nathanielvelazquez1147
      @nathanielvelazquez1147 9 месяцев назад

      These are OC duration shingles. 4 or 6 nail pattern is acceptable per manufacturer installation instructions

      I have a video on that.

      With regular shingle flashing, which you can honestly run shingle flashing aground the perimeter of curb and seal with a 3 course of bull membrane bull

    everywhere else you use an entire piece of metal, but for some reason in the corner you just need a little goop?

      Yea I agree, I'd wrap the outside corner on the first piece of step, also you're guy is nailing very close to the skylight

    • @dynastyroofingcny
      @dynastyroofingcny 2 года назад +1

      Just because it’s not wrapped doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I’ve seen hundreds of roofers install this exact way and I’ve never seen anyone have an issue. Have an open mind, their are plenty of ways to do things on a roof

    Don't nail the flashing into the shingle. You are introducing an extra hole into the flashing. Why would you do that?

    • @RoofRepairSpecialist
      @RoofRepairSpecialist  Год назад +5

      We generally dont nail it to the curb, especially if it is a brick fire place you are not able to do so. The nail we put in will be covered by the next row of shingles and flashings.

    Why not have some peel n stick running up the curb along side and head wall of that curb?
    Your video shows no water penetration but it’s not sealed properly and any wind driven rain will leak.

    • @RoofRepairSpecialist
      @RoofRepairSpecialist  9 месяцев назад

      I’ve never had a leak because of that, peel and stick is called ice and water shield and when used in similar situations is for ice

  • @whommee
    @whommee Год назад +1

    putting that nail in the end of the shingle close to that curb, through the step flashing is a terrible thing to do

    • @RoofRepairSpecialist
      @RoofRepairSpecialist  Год назад

      The next row of step flashing covers said nail. If your not dealing with Ice and snow its not a problem.

    dont put the step flashing down over the glue stick of the previous shingle for obvious reasons...come on man

      @@RoofRepairSpecialist the glue strip on the shingle...when you put the next shingle down you want that glue from the previous single to connect and form a nice melted glue seam...but when you put the step flashing down to far on the shingle you stop that from happening. this is common sense
