Leachianus don’t need uvb very reputable breeders don’t use uvb only a led grow light and ceramic heater do perfect but if there are no plants then just any light source

Is it necessary? No. Do I recommend it especially for those new to leachie keeping? Yes, absolutely.

If it isn't necessary why add an extra step that might make someone that wants to keep a Leachi anxious? Anxious about it giving the reptile "enough light" that it doesn't really need. It's a nocturnal gecko anyway isn't it? UV is only really needed for plants but I wouldn't even recommend someone try to manage plants and a pet at the same time if they're beginners. I'd start off with artificial plants and once I have my pets care down to the T I'd then introduce live plants. Just my .02.

Can you use a chameleon mesh cage 36X18X36 for a leachie

I'm sure it's possible but it would be a lot harder to control conditions in a mesh cage.

I thought leachies didn't need uvb

It's not "necessary" if you supplement with calcium and proper diet. But I always highly recommend it.
