I would buy everyday a Jaquet Droz instead of a RM. I personally don't like Rm, I see it as a more expensive Hublot, Jaquet Droz needs more attention, it really makes incredible Timepieces. I would like to say that I really like this channel, also because it features watches that aren't reviewed on other channels, it deserves way more subscribers but I'm sure it is just a matter of time. Keep up the good work Marko !
I really appreciate your “in-the-metal” approach to reviews. The relevance is simply elevated when you have the actual watch on your wrist rather than just an image on your screen. As for this Jaquet Droz, the floating indices on this beautiful model are what appeal to me the most.
Thank you Richard, yea I've been torn many times about this but will try to uphold it as much as I can. We've shot more than 85 different brands on this channel which isn't an easy feat especially with a lot of exotics we covered as well.
I don't care how much more accurate quartz watches or smartwatches are, the artistry and engineering involved in these mechanical movements will always have a special place in my heart, to where I will gladly favor their small inaccuracies over their more accurate digital cousins, because they just exude a majesty in their intricate perfection. Masterpieces, like this Jaquet Droz featured here, are such an exemplification of human ingenuity at its apex that it inspires the soul.
For the price this is an absolutely underrated beauty! I love the Grande Seconde Skelet-One for it's tasteful combination of classic watch design and modern materials and appearance without loosing it's brand DNA! Congratulations to Jaquet Droz for this stunning timepiece! And thanks a lot for showing, Marko!
I have 2 JDs, Astrale Perpetual Calendar and Chrono (both old models). The level of finishing is amazing. I got them at auctions, the 2nd hand price is ridiculously low compared to MSRP. Love the new Grande Seconde Chrono, hope you will review one soon.
That's awesome man I've started to build a watch collection. JD is definately on my list for a forever watch in my collection. Hoping to get a great deal on the 2nd market.
Had the pleasure to try it on earlier this year @ Uhrsachen Bern. What a fantastic piece! Definitely extremely tempting. In the category of modern skeleton watches I think it also makes for worthy competition to Angelus or Girard Perregaux.
I think Jaquet Droz would have been successful as a model line under Breguet. Jaquet Droz is perhaps the most underrated watchmaker in history! Pairing the name with the genius of Breguet would've been incredible! Truly sad when I heard Swatch Group was shutting it down. They'll keep building custom pieces as I understand it, but the brand itself has been shelved for the most part.
Love the skeleton movement! Really nice piece for the money. With the level of finishing it has. Would be nice conversation piece as well. Another great review as always 😎
No wonder I couldn't figure out the picture from last week... I much prefer this to an RM to be honest and I've looked at JD in the past, you can get some good deals on some of these and their dials are incredible. Quite impressed with this one, really cool watch. Again, amazing video, as always. You are really the only person qualified to capture watches like these, if I were a brand I would send all of my watches to you, just incredible what you can do with a camera.
Jaquet-Droz and Angelus are the two brands that do the most elegant skeletonized watches. They actually make use of negative space which makes the movement seems lighter and and less busy.
I came across the Jaquet Droz brand before the acquisition from the swatch group. Had a fascination with it because of the sad history of Pierre. If I could remember, his watches really took off when his wife and one of his children died early and this drove him to devote most of his time in watch making spending all his hours in his passion creating exquisite time pieces. I haven't purchased one yet, but my favourite piece would be the grande seconde deadbeat in rose gold with black dial. Its a lovely dress watch on the bigger side (43mm) which I prefer. Hopefully, one day I will be able to add one to my collection. Also like the time piece you are reviewing Marko. Good review as usual.
Thank you Richard, definitely a brand with a rich history and distinct design, maybe it'll take off in the future which rarely happens to brands in groups but we'll see.
I love me some Jaquet Droz for sure! This one is a very nice piece and any of their Grande Secondes are good come to think of it. I especially like their moonphase versions.
I watch this channel and I am not even into watches, although a spark is being born. Who knows, maybe one day I can even afford something like this one. I do not wear watches a lot and to be honest most of the even more expensive ones that you feature, I would not like to wear. But this one is quite special! great content!
Thank you Milos! Check out my watch collection video, you'll see that I also started with more affordable Swatch watches and it gradually progressed. :)
@@SwissWatchGang Thanks Marko, I saw quite a few of your videos already, that one included :) It is amazing how you started with one used Longines (I think ?) and I am a bit afraid that I may get addicted like you as well, once I get my first real watch. They truly are the work of art and it is easy to get lost in them. I am checking your old videos regularly when I have time and I am looking for inspiration. While watching your videos I am also beginning to understand why I am not wearing my current watch (battery powered Festina) and what I could look for. It helps that you explain when one person could use a watch and for which occasions. Thanks for the great content, I am quite sure it is very difficult and costly to make this kind of content and that you also need lots of connections to obtain most of the watches as well!
Thanks, Marko for the great video, I really like their watches, and they are definitely great buys on the grey market or with heavy discounts new. I would really like to see a couple of this year's GPHG finalist, that would make a great video :D
Way cooler than an RM, awesome history especially the automatons - the watch is awesome, but I want that signature machine, that's just incredible!! Enjoyable content as always, thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
I have the privilege to see one in person 2 years ago and it is absolutely a stunning piece. It is gorgeous but you really need to love it though as the ownership cost (if you planing to sell it), as acquisition cost isn’t insignificant while resell value is not particularly resilient.
Yup, as I said you gotta buy it smart otherwise it might hurt you down the line. But definitely a good buy and I think you wouldn't wanna let it go that quick.
Thank you so much for your content, I love it! I know it´s maybe not a brand of interest but what about Junghans, I think the Max Bill is timeless peace somehow. All the best for you!
I love Titanium's feel. I'm looking forward to this premiere. I'm curious... Could you feature a time piece with a case of carbon composite? I'd love to see some options and hear our opinion. I wish you a victorious day brethren. Thank you for all the quality content.
If you're talking about the Roger Dubuis I don't know when that's possible but we covered another one of his watches before: ruclips.net/video/EOnoXyEkiA4/видео.html
Hi nice video it’s a stunning watch! Can you do a video about rebellion watch? It’s independent cutting-edge Swiss watch company with an interesting price positioning from few thousands to millions
You know what pisses me off most of the time with these expensive watches? The Lugs... so much work is going in the movement, glass and case, but the lugs are never something special. They are always just a boring extension of the case. Why not do something interesting with those also? Why not, for example, have interior of the lugs and the case between them (where the strap stands) a different color? Or brushing? They watch is extremly expensive, so i dont want to hear "it will raise the cost". The vintage watches had way more attention given to lugs, which i think nowadays are just ignored
Would love to have this skeleton in my closet. I do not like when markings over lap but this is ok because the seconds track is on a sapphire disc. I love the look of RM watches but I am aware their quality control is poor and finishing is nothing to write home about. Not to mention they treat customers like garbage at their ADs. People are of the opinion that RM will collapse when the rappers move on to rapping about other brands, I have been wondering when the RM bubble will burst because even though I love the sporty look of their watches their design language is not timeless and elegant like the classics that have stood the test of time.
The thing with the comparison is that this JD watch looks like almost every other skeleton watch at first glance. Same case shape. The people that buy RMs are not worried about case finishing, they’re just trying to match their expensive outfits for instagram likes. Flex culture smh
@@SwissWatchGang for sure.. 😅 C Sorry but comparing a question of '' general design '' between jaquet from the 18th century with garbage like rm.. Sorry but this is symply a heresy..😔
Which is your favorite Jaquet Droz watch and what should we review next?
My favorite Jaquet Droz watch is Grande Seconde Chronograph, this one is definitely a close second.
That signature machine or any automaton, I'm intrigued. 😉🤞🏻
Definitely anything with an automaton!

Jaquet Droz peaked at the Grande Heure GMT and somehow never managed to get back up there in terms of finesse.
I think there's plenty of good watches to discover. Matter of taste.
Why no hacking seconds? Seems like an expensive watch to not have it, but maybe there is a reason?
A lot of brands and expensive watches don't have it. I don't know why, I think it's a basic element nowadays.
