I wish I've seen this sooner. It's just beautiful. Watching this Mini being prepared up close, that bright new red paint, all the vintage parts, cool music... And then the *click* *click* *click* *BOOM*. Brutal contrast but it's... exciting, somehow. I'll put that as my wakeup alarm. The gear's noise tho, it's simple and symphonic at the same time. Loved the heal-and-toe shift. Sub !

it's a normal thing for race cars, it allows to work better on the car and change tires faster depending on which ones you need (slick, soft, hard etc etc)

Ich hab soviele andere sportliche Autos gefahren, der MINI ist mir immernoch stark in Erinnerung geblieben! Sehr Emotionales Auto und ich hatte nie einen Tag erlebt an dem ich keine Lust auf dieses Auto hatte.

Weber carb plus straight cut = impressive sound.
Back in the 60s/70s you could go to a BL dealer who had Special Tuning status and order all the kit to tune a Mini 850/970/997/998/1071/1275 just like the works cars.
Everything from a carb needle, to straight cut gears, twin carbs, road and track cams, cylinder heads.
I had a rally tune 1972 Mini 998 with a 12G995 big valve cylinder head, rally cam, 1' 3/4 SU carb, and other parts. It would rev to 8,000 rpm, do over 100mph and with wide wheels and longer bottom ft suspension arms altered camber at the rear nothing could catch it on lanes or around town.
Loved it, sadly the guy I sold it to ran it into a wall racing a mk1 Escort 😞.
I still have the BL Special Tuning folder I got from a dealer I worked for in the 80s. Amazing to read I guess collectable now too.
