    Investing in Roth IRA can be a good choice since they are funded with after tax dollars, your contributions can grow tax-free over time. When you withdraw money from your Roth IRA in retirement, you won’t have to pay tax on it, which will help you keep more of your hard-earned money. Compounding is the process of earning interest on your initial investment, as well as on the interest that investment earns. This means that over time, your investment can grow exponentially. So the earlier you start investing, the more time your investment has to grow through compounding

      @Margaret22- A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for license advisors and came across someone of due diligence, helped a lot to grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to approx. $850k so far.

    Is it a good time to buy stocks right now? How long will it take for us to recover? I know everyone claims that equities are now inexpensive. Although there are tactics to be applied in this market, the common person cannot access these strategies. Would I be better off investing my money somewhere else? I have about $50k to invest.

      It's not that you're doing anything wrong; it's just that you don't have the knowledge to profit in a down market. The only individuals who may earn greatly during tumultuous times like these are experts with considerable knowledge who must have observed the 2008 catastrophe. Their whole skill set is based on trading long and short at the same time, using profit-driven strategies and reducing risk as a buffer against unavoidable downtrends, thus they are well-suited to do so.

What options do we have as our kids may not need an Education Savings Plan. We are looking for what is out there to support their lives in general and medical expenses. It would be nice to hear something on this and how it fits into the baby steps. In Canada we have an RDSP (registered disability savings plan). Remember, $53,000 in 2061 (40 years) will be like having $20,000 today. Taking a 2.5% annual inflation rate into account. Even in 30 years, $53,000 in 2051 is only equal to $25,000 today.
      The same way people say you can have $1,000,000 in 40 years if you invest. In 2061, $1 million will be the same as having $372k in today's money.
      Not saying don't invest. Just look at those projected values and plug them into a Future Inflation Calculator online to see how much value that money will really have.
      Everything is going to cost a lot more 40 years from now. Inflation hits everything. The reason you want to invest (and not just save) is partly because you don't want your money to lose value due to inflation. Counteract the standard inflation rate and plus gain a little extra as profit.

      do not use a 401K. Ask yourself, why is it called a 401K.... look up 7702 and see if you can get a 7702 instead of getting a 401K. 401K's are not going to do anything for you, especially if you pass away unexpectedly or worse, you are alive and cannot work. 7702 helps more.

    Which is better to invest in mutual funds, IRA, or 401 K? Is there a particular mutual funds, IRA, or 401 k to invest in?

    • @FueledByRyan0
      @FueledByRyan0 3 года назад

      You will use an IRA or 401k (or both) as your investing account. The mutual fund is the actual investment. Mutual funds, index funds, or individual stocks can all be invested within a IRA, 401k, HSA, or Individual investing account. 👍💰

      You can't go wrong with index funds. Most of us should avoid stock picking at all costs, but if you feel comfortable taking that route, you could read up on it and give it a shot (although I wouldn't recommend taking chances like that when your retirement isn't too far away and you're gonna need that money sooner than later)
