- Canon V10 vlogging camera. I don't understand why they look at all vloggers as these entry level people with zero skill or knowledge of how to operate a camera. Time after time, camera companies release cameras designed for vlogging, and they are the most dumbed down version of entry level beginner cameras. It's insulting, we get cameras like the Sony ZV1F, Panasonic G100, Nikon Z30 etc. Redo your market research companies, there are pro vloggers, and creative people out there, and your tools are holding us back.

ngl, I think you nailed it with "it's designed for beginning baby vloggers" ... because it is. It's meant to be a one button "push to record" fisher price vlogger camera for people who don't want to get lost in the weeds with interchangeable lenses and different codecs. I don't think that's a bad thing. It's a little over priced, but it is what it is... and it's easy to say "oh well my phone can record better quality" but does your phone seriously have enough internal storage left over for that or a front facing screen for when you use the actual good quality rear camera? Because mine sure as shit doesnt. I think black magic pockets already have the top end covered with interchangeable lenses, raw 10 bit 6k, global shutter, bla bla bla and the mid tier is covered quite nicely with the new mirrorless 'slr minus the lr' breed of full frame. GoPro and DJI have the really tiny, fixed lens, no focus, everything over saturated and horrendously sharpened market covered. I respect what Canon are trying to do with this... I just wish it wasn't so expensive with out of date feeling tech. Give me internal lens IS, 120 fps 1080, and regular canon colour picture profiles and I'd be sold. An all in one, pocket friendly device that you can just whip and capture some quick video with on the fly that has an external 3.5mm audio jack is kind of a blessing, really. Not everyone wants to carry the gorilla pod, gimbal, shotgun mic, couple of lenses, ND filters, spare batteries, SD cards, atomos external monitor, smallrig cage... the full backpack full of pro video makers kit everywhere they go. Canon were going for quick, simple, easy and as a first attempt - I think they pretty much nailed it. If it had been half the price, it'd be worth every penny.

The problem with smartphones is the framerates of the videos is VERY yanky and far from any actual standards. I always have to re-format my videos with virtualdub so the framerate actually has a proper standard and doesn't look weird in the timeline of my video editing program. Phones also won't let you shoot horizontally when holding them vertically.
If a Camera company can't make a camera with specs equal to the GoPro 8 in resolution and frame rate then it should not be a product. 4K 60p is a must and anything lower than that is not acceptable by today's standards. All iPhones since the iPhone 8 can do 4K 60 without issue and that was 7 years ago NEARLY A DECADE! LOL What is Canon thinking?

@@Jthe5th it's not just vloggers that can use this camera. Sometimes you just want an easy camera that records good quality video. I set up a canon r5 for my friend to record an event. It was totally done. She just had to point at interesting things and record while I was recording other parts of the event with my camera. But 15 minutes in, she had accidentally stopped the recording and didn't know it. She saw herself and others on the screen so she thought she was recording. And when you think of smartphones the good cameras are on the back so you can't frame yourself or the environment.

If it had Phase Detect auto focus it might be ok, but with the same Contrast Autofocus that is garbage from the G7XM3, this little camera is unfortunately dead on arrival.
Damn that x3000 look so good. The bad thing is good luck finding it on the market today with good price. Sony should release the x4000.

The bad point for most of Sony stuff is the price. It's really not competitive at all for example rx0, Sony's attempt to combine x3000 + action cam.

Seeing some indoor shots from the V10 in one of the reviews, I almost couldn't believe how incredibly bad it was. For $429 you can get something much better on Aliexpress, like a pair of undersized socks. Still a better deal than this piece of crap.
I think it’s good enough for what it is. My only issue is the built in battery. Even action cams have removable battery.

I wondered what you'd think about this V10 when I mentioned it in the comments in your last video! 😂 Kai W did a hands on for the V10. It has EIS only, does have stereo mikes. The 21MP sensor bizarrley only uses 15MP for stills and 13MP for video (16:9). AF was pretty slow, in the Kai W hands on. US$430 for a massively hobbled G7Xiii. Laughable!
Because they use Sony sensor and most likely it is 4:3 sensor rather than the usual 3:2 hence the weird MP

The only problem with pocket 2 is non removable battery and DJI is really stupid for not making the USB c webcam compatible.
I wish Canon would consider releasing a Canon Powershot G7 X Mark IV. Absolutely no news regarding a possible G7 X Mark IV whatsoever. It is hard to believe the V10 was released this year. It looks like a device that would've came out in the mid early 2000s.

It is a good day when the video starts with a street crossing! The Sony x3000 is king! Looks great and works. It is not perfect? but it is classy! I find it ironic that Sony and Canon have put out vlogging cameras designed back in the 2010s and no one remembers them. The Canon VIXIA mini, Canon Powershot N2 and the Sony Bloggie. Entertaining and informative as always.

Personally i like this thing because i always loved these little blogger cams that allowed you to hold them vertically and shooting horizontally. What i don't like is the insanely expensive pricetag that Canon slapped onto what could easily be a 150 bucks take-away-price Item that would have sold pretty well then. If you're a Vlogger in need of gear, there's so much more you could get for that price. Including a new Phone with proper Camera app for it. Demanding over 500 bucks for a fucking BLOGGIE copy in 2023 is just insane....

Still prefer Dji pocket 2 and coming 3 this year. Canon could make an action camera and not vlog camera that most people stop doing it, this is a 3 years old past camera users, I smell big failure of canon for this product.

At least they used the right sensor and the lens is wide enough, that's more than I can say about Sony's attempt at making entry level vlogging gear. Anyway, I think the A6700 might just become the next go to vlogging camera for anyone who is serious about content creation. Considering dynamic stabilization on the ZV-E1 is pretty damn good, if they put that in the A6700 you couple that with the 11mm f1.8, you got yourself a pretty sweet vlogging machine. Stable, Wide, big sensor look, great codec, amazing AF etc

X3000 looks pretty good. Especially considering the weight and the wideness. I have zv-1 so I still didn't buy it tho. I put my zv-1 in my pocket and it's quite heavy already. If I find a easy way to protect the lens of X3000 in my pocket then I might get one..

You complain about the form factor, but have you heard of pocket camcorders like the Sony Bloggie back from 2010? They were all vertical and filmed horizontal.
Which is a big advantage over the vertical video garbage from today.
IMHO the Canon wouldn´t be that bad if it had 4K60 or more. Instead, 2014 has called, it wants the 4k specs back!

The worst thing about v10 is it's weight! X3000 is half the weight and has the ibis and oss both together called BOSS. I bet it's not comfy to hold either.
I have a Canon M6 mark II. This V10 is just a gimmick.
That matte black plastic makes the V10 look like a bit that fell off a 90s Apple Powerbook.
Such a nice video with a small touch perhaps... The so called "baby vloggers" are the majority! The rest are Complainers and Pros (and pro-complainers). The "babies" care about their toys - form-factor, simplicity, lightweight and the brand, of course. The sensor, stabilisation and other tech stuff are secondary - 4K or FHD, who cares if the footage is small and good enough especially for home and everyday usage... The majority has a bonus - a pocket web camera, remote controlling and iPhone integration for sharing and archiving. The price tag is also almost irrelevant simply because V10 is currently unique on the market. An extremely smart and precise move from Canon. Now they can release everything better than their own V10.

I literally can't get over how good the Sony X3000 looks and sounds. Why hasn't Sony replaced this with an updated camera??? It makes no sense. I found a brand new Sony X3000 the other day, on sale - old stock, but think I'm getting an Insta360RS 4K for MotoVlogging - It is soooooo much cheaper than the Osmo, or GoPro with a sound set-up for MotoVlogging. The X3000 would be a pain to mount on the helmet. I'm actually pretty happy with my AKASO Brave6+ for MotoVlogging now (weirdly it started looking good on the last few edits - think there was an issue with the way Wondershare was processing it). I realize the Akaso is shite for Vlogging... Great work Kassie, keep it up :) Cam from NZ :)

Considering that some smartphones already have internal gimbal, I find it hard to believe there isn't already a vlogging camera with internal gimbal in the shape and form factor of a GoPro.
If they made a vlogging camera with everyones wishlist of specs, it would be at least $2k and then everyone would cry about the price and how you can just pay a little more for a Sony or Canon mirrorless camera blah blah blah. There is no win here.

When I first saw the v10 I thought wtf is that I’m still using the hero 8 black with the media mod and it works better and has more advanced features and a great stabilizer. When it comes to low light every single one of them suck. Edit: and it’s cheaper and on the used market it’s even cheaper.

Currently on X-T30 , mostly doing travel doc style with the kit lens because of stabilisation. Switch to Xs10 or better invest for a nice compact gimbal for "money shooting 🔫 ".
Have 35 f2 & and 56 1.2 , can the Xs10 be trusted for some nice slow mo shoots?
