'I Guess it's in the stars for me to love you from a distance' Jay Z nailed it. Sade and Jay can never go wrong. One of them night time joint #classic

That's that one. Also the preganant "pause" picturing a time interval by then mentioning "damn your baby tall" . "So maybe no moon sky" which is what she hoped for "yet a beautiful Sun"( but she got a child out of it). Very clever that guy

This is the greatest Jay Z verse I've ever heard and in a long time fan of jay. There's been rumors about him having an illegitimate son with some island girl back in the day especially around the time this song came out. if listen with that in mind his verse makes sense and gives it so much more meaning. Straight chills.

Sade is a wonderful artist. She doesn't need a hip hop beat behind any of her music, even if it is Jay-Z.

I agree with you both. Jay-Z, in my opinion, is a talented lyricist because he knows how to layer his verses well. Some "lyrical" artist sometimes go straight for the fences so to speak. Jay is a master at the entendre and creating the easy to get metaphor, but behind that metaphor is a deeper meaning, then something else hidden behind that. Not many rappers do that very well. They either are very simple, or ultra-deep. Each one is fine, but to tie the two together I think is more impressive.

Honestly i don't get how people can say that Jay's verse wasn't fitting? if you love Sade so much, you would get why she picked him. Jay's ability to make a verse sound so simple while being complex is his strength. Reason why he is known as the master of double entendre. I'm not a fan of R&B much but with Jay on there, it sounds like a masterpiece of lyrics. I'm thinking people who just don't like Jay on it should listen to Sade's only version and leave this version to those who can truly appreciate the mashing of both artist's intellectual and lyrical abilities.

This song makes me cry EVERYTIME i hear it.
It brings back memories when i was very hurt from my past relationship.
I loved him to much. He hurt me so bad.. Even though he hurt me; i wanted to be with him no matter what happend, i was always there. And i gave so much into that relationship.. I lost myself. I gave everything to him.. and he just would always push me away.. I hope one day he realizes what a great girl he once had.. :/ I love & miss you

There's a legion of people who r definitely "not knowing" or basically "unaware" of sublime artistry & the magnitude in which it is conveyed, & accepted. When an artist possesses the ability 2 put u n a state of awe with every song & the stroke of a pen 4 over 2 decades.. u have 2 think "Unsurpassed". These songs might I add don't just put u n a state of awe; most of them are "TIMELESS". When I c a comment that says Sade should b grateful, it's the other way around; Jay asked Sade 4 this duet.

This is the essence of what musicians do, features and collaborations are a big part of the business. Kanye west and Katie parry have a song. “ET” at the time was his biggest song to date. Collaborations are usually the introduction to listening to an artist you have never see or listened to before. A cross over of fans makes for many song break with a bigger push released

Haven't u ever wondered how & why an artist from the early 80's can still have a world tour & sell out concerts in 2011? It's because of "PURE UNADULTERATED TALENT" & admiration that would allow this type of respect of peers, media, consumers & fans. The old school already know about the phenomenal band called "SADE". Before making premature comments, I urge the new schoolers 2 listen 2 Sade & really explore their music 2 discover y so many think their better unassisted by other artists'. 1 Luv
