I spent a few weeks travelling Southeast Asia with the Panasonic Lumix GH5S + GH5 and the Zhiyun Crane Plus gimbal (the gimbal was courtesy of CineGearPro see their details below). It was incredible to experience the Indonesian culture, people and their beautiful landscapes. This video summarises my trip and what I did while out there!
Shot mainly on the GH5S 4K 24p, 48p vlog and cine d with one shot in 1080p 180

Looks awesome... For the GH5s, is there a limit on how long it can run? I'm going to be filming some comedy bits of up to 90 minutes long, and I just want to set up the camera and forget it. As long as my memory card is big enough, and I have ample battery life/a power supply, is this an option? I heard some DSLRs turn off automatically after 15 min, and have to be restarted... Thanks :)
wow, that gh5s is amazing. the first time i watchthis, it was at 1080p, i wasnt happy at all until i switched it up to 2160p.
thanks Philip hah yes RUclips compression isn't great. I've also put this up on Vimeo which looks a lot better in general

thanks again Nate! I spin the camera handheld without the gimbal takes a bit of practice but because the camera is so small it helps
Hi, I'm going to get this camera but never shot video on DSLR before. I heard most people use manual focus for this camera. Is it easy to learn to manual focus while using video? If you are moving, how do continue to keep what you are shooting on focus?

I think the 12-35mm is best so you have a decent range and you can zoom if you need to link here amzn.to/2PXT5KJ

Hi Ali, I am juggling between getting the gh5 and gh5s. Which one do you recommend for video and photo? I know the video capabilities for both cameras are really good but which to pic for photo as well? Thanks.
Hey Yash, I think the GH5 is more suited for both video and photos. The GH5S is more video focused
If you had to choose only 2 lenses
to shoot a music video, which would you surely get?

@@filmmakerali thanks Ali! Is it such a big difference between the 35 zoomed in and the 42.5? Do the 42 has better depth of field?
The colour rendition and depth is a lot nicer on the 42.5. it's not essential yes you can zoom to 35mm and get a nice depth. For a very long time I only had the 12-35mm and it was great so if you don't have the budget the 12-35mm will be great to start with

Great footage you have here Ali ! How do you focusing ? Manually or AF ? I did went to camera shop in London recently and tested this combination GH5S+ Panasonic 100-400 lenses 4K 60 fps. The footage was great to me but it was shaky ( on tripod) at some points. Auto focus wasn't working properly . But looking at your videos it looks fantastic to me
How do you stabilise your footage ?
I want to buy this camera set for plane spotting. This is within the limits of my budget. What do you think about that ? Is it good choice for this kind of filming ? At the moment I'm filming on Panasonic VX-870 but I want to upgrade my gear.
I know that you a Panasonic ambassador. Could you give some advice please? I didn't get proper advice from salesman when I went to WeX shop last week in London . Seems to me they're don't know about this camera that much
Or maybe you could advise me where I can take some lessons? Do you do this kind of lessons ? I would pay you for that.

Hey! thanks for that, yes I run workshops in London and Surrey if you're in the area feel free to email ali@alphacmedia.com for more details. Generally speaking I mainly use manual focus. My footage is usually stabilised on a tripod or gimbal when using the GH5S. The GH5 has amazing stabilisation which may be more suitable for your needs it'll be a lot easier to get stabilised footage on it vs the GH5S. A lot of my GH5 footage is shot handheld but if you're using long lenses like the 100-400 you'd definitely need a decent video tripod. Hope this helps!

hey I think it's great value for money and much more portable than my Movi M5. I still think the M5 is a much better performer but again it's a lot more expensive

Hey if you're doing vlogs you'll probably want something like the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 or Lumix 13-35mm 2.8

Panasonic H-NS043E LEICA DG NOCTICRON 42,5 mm/F1.2 is a bad lens for movies indoor with many light?
Its the best native lens money can buy but you'll need plenty of space where you're filming it's a mid telephoto lens best for portraits/close ups

Hey Prem I shot everything 4k UHD 150mbps as i was running out of space quite quickly travelling across 4 countries i filled 10 SD cards, if i had more v90s I would've certainly shot everything 400mbps
What are your export settings on your editing software specifically codec and bitrate? Thanks
The music isnt quite Balinese. This sounds more indian (India) with lots of zither. Balinese music is more bamboo and flute.
