- Many people don't actually ask "Why did the Mongols invade China?" proffering just to say that it did happen. They also don't differentiate between the Xi Xia Tangut Kingdom and the Jurchen Jin Dynasty, which is very important for the context of the invasion. Here's a few reasons which may have been the impetus for the attack on China, and perhaps will clear up some misunderstandings about this stage in the Mongol Empire as well.

As always, the research for my videos is done from whatever scholarly works and primary sources I can access relevant to the topic, and my impressions from them: since it is not an exhaustive study of every single source, and due to the nature of it being a few-minute long video, I'' probably be leaving some stuff out. If you feel I left out a major point, or disagree with something I included, I'd love to discuss it and see what I may have missed.
Dude your knowledge is very limited DO some research
You are right in the begging of this video. That is not a new thing, We Russians used Poles, Germans, Turks, Mongols as enemies, when they are too weak to be enemies, we used Yankees. That was not just our fault.. others had done the same, For example, we are too weak to be enemies of Yankees now, so they use Chinese as enemies even though those poor yellow men are still too weak and do not have the will for that. But hey, that is just a show right? Our governments need enemies to scare we common people so they don't have to pay the things they promised us for supporting them setting on their seats. We Russians are too poor to afford even enemies now, boring.
WithAStick.AngryWhiteMan...your country so call Russian Federation will break up to many pieces just like the Soviet Union in 1991.
@WithAStick AngryWhiteMan = Unemployed and no future prospects.
Dont you love how the Mongols easily acquired land just because everyone was all like "Yeah, that will never happen to me"
*WELL LET ME TELL YOU, YOU WERE DEAD WRONG.*
Unlike the British, the Mongolians not only took on the richest and most powerful nations, they also invaded and subjugated them.
Love the drawings, great video!
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Great video, great series, great channel.
your videos are great, you deserve more recognition
Very good video dude! do you illustrate the pictures yourself?
FYI: Khaidu or Haidu or Kaidu, nowadays is written as Khaidav, but if you spell it fast it is pronounced as Khaidu. My relative has that name, it's a rare name as far as i know.
Very accurate description i believe.
Cool videos man. If you haven't read any of Harold Lamb's work on the peoples of the steppe I do recommend it. You might not find new information and the details might be kind of skewed to be honest, but the narrative is gold. You can read his books more like novels than history books as such.
Nice vid
Nice thanks
song dynasty made a stupid move called 端平入洛 duan ping ru luo, when mongol and song have a deal to finish jurchen jin together, chinese attacked mongol controled former jin territory, they want revenge from jin so bad and broke the alliance between mongols
1:04 so called riding the wood donkey, i think its more brutal than that, the wood stick needs to impale,, but great illustration anyways
To gain more of a power foot hold
Wrong Mongol Empire was bigger than British Empire in km squares.Even if you put Kanada Australia too.
It depends on how much of Siberia/modern Russia is including in calculating the size. The northern borders of the Mongol Empire are not well understood, and sometimes much more land is given to them in some calculations than others.
However, note that english writing can be perhaps more biased to British Empire, and willing to attribute to it more land it may not have directly controlled, while also not including the Russian cities for example, in the Mongol Empire's size (which is sometimes done).
In order to reduce the number of Chinese so that agricultural resources equal the proportion of the population
That's not from the mongol perspective
1210 AD, Mongols--LOOT!!!
800 years later, gamers--LOOT!!!
Why not
Shut up kid
Because china was located very near his mongol empire
so he was a vassal of the jin lol. Same as manchus to ming. Or Khamag mongols to liao wow
Mongolia is basically China junior.
chi mongol bish
for fun
Jin jurchens were ancestors of manchus as well.. We all know. The Qing successfully invaded mongolia and ruled it for nearly 300 years..
they ivaded only Dzungar of Mongolia ! Rest of them subjugated
Do why did the mongol invade japan
In the future that will be covered, Mr. Putin
same reason, really. It was there.
Vladimir Putin Why ? hmmmm, they must have been looking for ancient Japanese AV stuffs
Because the Japanese drew their swords and said "Okay".
A Ghost Without a Past understandable
I hope Mongolia regretted invading China
*you don’t flip with the Chinese
today Inner Mongolia becomes Chinese territory,
@@Emilechen Yup but Chinese themselve are Mongolians.
@@Emilechen tell that bull shit to real chinese people
@@greatpost1192 no there not
@@jeremyarroyo360 You bastard, totally wrong they're actually a Mongolians who came from Mongolia in period of Genghis Khan not Chinese anymore.
I can't be the only one that is bothered by hearing "chin" (Qin) instead of "gin" (Jin). These are two very different time periods.
Yea, I was off with that here, but came back more to 'gin' in later videos. I recognize that I'll of errors with pronunciation, so I am always appreciate of suggestions for that aspect.
@@TheJackmeisterMongolHistory Ok but jin are Mongols thenselves, sorry.
because they dont have food .house.There is nothing on north.but China has greatest land
You should get someone other than your 11 year old nephew to do your drawings.
Chin Zhi Huan
watch the movie mongol...he attacked china because he was humiliated ..and imprisoned by the chinese...in Tangkut...kingdom
Because china lost mongol
Liar This is empire Mongolia
..because the East Roman Empire invaded Mongolia. Much like the Vikings raiding into England/Russia was a response to West Roman Empire 2nd BCE invasion/conquer response. Both started after Latin Based Rome "shrunk back in 2nd-4thAD and withdrew in the West, and after Turks from Istanbul (Rome's Eastern Capital city after 4th CE AD shrunk back from its Far East Empire shrink to remain along the silk road. The Mongols are a similar response retaliation to a Roman Empire shrink.
Eastern Roman Empire haven't reached the Far east at that time especially the Mongolia.
cause mongol was having a bad day and china was in it's way
Because the Ancient China was racists? Seriously ancient China’s complex of being the center alienated it with its neighbors and historically they wouldn’t trade with anyone even japan who were friendly with China had do the whole gift swapping thing because chinas ego. Only the Ming and Qing dynasties started trading because the yuan was open to it even then they played with monopolies forgot about the time the mongols screwed them over and when they treated the British, a empire giant of its time like it was a small state it ended with the unfair deal and the collapse of the Ming when the Manchu and mongols invaded and took the throne!
Chinese were easy target maybe cause many chinese neighbours attacked it such as Turks, Mongols, Manchus, Russians, Japanese and some western nations like Brits.
Were there multiple invasions from Mongols of China? I ask because the Chinese as we know them today ARE Mongols and the timeline doesn't seem to fit. The ancient Chinese were black, were they not? And was not the Great Wall commissioned to keep out the hordes of Mongols but failed? These Mongols also took Japan, which was also a black people. Also, the Mongols have the highest percentage of Neanderthal DNA of all the races, do they not?
That's complete pseudo-science. And racist
Are you idiotic?
what am I reading
